Fireballs
Illusion of Terra replied to Beocat's topic in Astrophysics / General science club's Topics
Holy moley, that is one bright flash. I can definitely say I haven't seen that. This is not on topic, but I don't understand the part with freezing yourself out of pain. By freeze you probably mean the freezing behavior, not getting colder?, but how exactly is that related to pain? Also, aren't those drugs covered by health insurance in the US? -
Fireballs
Illusion of Terra replied to Beocat's topic in Astrophysics / General science club's Topics
I didn't even know what a fireball was until I looked it up, let alone seen one. But no, if you live in a big city, you don't really get to see many things in the sky unless you really look for it. You didn't happen to take an image? -
@Greeneyes For non-natives slang is a lot like dialect. The differences between y'all, all y'all and y'all all, is just as weird as the different uses of yeet. But in general you get a rough idea by hearing people use it, yeet. Also you don't really hear too much slang if you are not living in an English speaking country because most things you hear in English will be rather professionally made stuff that use standard English. So you don't really even hear about slang that often.

That's an interesting take, I didn't even notice that. I guess the moral of the story is to give away your organs and body parts

@Nono If somehow fortnite would also be displayed in this image, it would be a great summary of the current western world

What age is The Promised Neverland okay for?
Illusion of Terra replied to GavinShahin's topic in Anime Discussion
I think it is quite well made. I didn't hear about the hype so I watched it from a rather neutral position. I agree with @Ohiotaku that it is a bit slow when it comes to plot development though. If dark anime aren't for you, you might want to avoid it, but if it is not that bad you can try the first episode and see if it is too upsetting or not. -
Thought I recognized the band for the theme; turns out it is the same as for Silver Spoon. So far (episode 1) I enjoyed it, quite soothing and upbeat! I recognized the plant thing, because it came up in one of the anthropology classes I had. So the idea with pulling it out actually was a thing in Europe "In the past, mandrake was often made into amulets which were believed to bring good fortune, cure sterility, etc. In one superstition, people who pull up this root will be condemned to hell, and the mandrake root would scream as it was pulled from the ground, killing anyone who heard it" https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mandrake I was wondering what those people must be working that they can afford such a huge house though

I see, so your husband probably interprets the tree as a mother which is quite likely I think. But his solution works though! I'm wondering what does your kid think about it?

What do you like best about Anime Cons?
Illusion of Terra replied to Geano's topic in Cosplay & Conventions
@Beocat The panel thing sounds just like the conferences in science and philosophy. Someone presenting something and then discussing it, with some panels being boring or way too complex to follow in a limited amount of time I'm kinda surprised that those cons are so diverse, with many different things to do. If I'm ever in the US I'll watch out for one! -
Pokemon Sword and Shield (also Pokemon in general)
Illusion of Terra replied to Illusion of Terra's topic in Gaming
@ArchieKun I haven't played the latest generations yet but in general I think it was great that they always included something innovative like you say. The games keep to the core concept, making them Pokemon games, but always add something new, and because the style always changes, at least to me, it always seems that there are just enough new things. -

What exactly do you do at an anime con? I don't even think there are any here. -
What age is The Promised Neverland okay for?
Illusion of Terra replied to GavinShahin's topic in Anime Discussion
I don't remember it having any sexual content. Most of the characters are children. But it is quite dark. There is not too much physical violence that is actually shown, but it is quite heavy psychologically. So it can be quite psychologically upsetting. I don't know about age but I wouldn't recommend it for children. -
Pokemon Sword and Shield (also Pokemon in general)
Illusion of Terra replied to Illusion of Terra's topic in Gaming
If Pokemon Chair and Table comes out, I will come back to this Seriously though, I can see some of them actually being implemented! -
Didn't know the story but just read it since it seemed interesting. I think in general it is a great story! Maybe I'm reading too much into it but: The only thing is, and that probably goes for most children's stories, that I'm not sure how much children can get from it. The underlying message is quite complex I think and you have to think quite hard about what actually is happening to get it. I think the story is a great start for a debate though, because people will have quite different reactions to the underlying message.

Rising of the Shield hero/ Obsessed đŸ¤£
Illusion of Terra replied to Seshi's topic in Anime Discussion
Yeah, the fight wasn't exactly brilliant. I was wondering how the other heroes got off the ship though? I enjoyed that Naofumi confronted the king who even threatened Raphtalia and Filo. Am I the only one who thought that the woman Naofumi talked to in the hallway after the incident with the kind might have been Glass? The episode was alright but it kinda seemed rushed, just an episode to set up what comes next. Then again, I really am interested in seeing what effects a class upgrade will have! -
I don't know if vaping or smoking is more damaging, since I neither smoke nor vape and have never looked into it, but I prefer other people vaping rather than smoking because it doesn't stink as much as smoking. If I stand around smokers for too long all my clothes smell like smoke which I dislike. Vaping at least doesn't make other people's clothes smell that much.

savage Seriously though, I mostly know slang terms from comments on youtube. But they are changing so often that it's difficult to know which ones are current. (video kinda reminded me of this one https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ed-5Zzdbx0E)

Anime Classics/Great Anime You Haven't Watched
Illusion of Terra replied to Illusion of Terra's topic in Anime Discussion
How have you guys not seen DBZ! Just kidding, but it's one of those anime you might have to have grown up with to like? I can't really judge because I don't know anyone who has watched it only as an adult. -
Is this a wooden chess board on that table (or whatever those things are called)? I can't be the only one wondering! Other than that @SanguineTear's goose has spoiled any neutral view point I can have on the image

Arakawa Under the Bridge (only watched a few episodes because I didn't like it)
-
I think that's a great idea! I don't have the time right now but in general that might really be interesting. People could also watch an episode or two a day so that everyone's on the same page. Kinda like with Shield Hero right now but with something that is fully released.

Kinda overlooked this whole thread. Are you guys someone specific? @Seshi I literally don't know any tennis anime, so I wouldn't have any idea who that is
