I don't know if this is possible for technical reasons, but if it is, would you be interested in a live chat box? A box where you can opt-in/out and see who's online (i.e. those who opted-in the live chat box) and well chat with them. Kinda like the status updates, only live. What do you think?

Interesting idea. Just wondering though, is there something like this already out there? I ask because there seems to be an anime about everything and would be surprised if no one has yet made one about opening a business. Even if there is though, it sounds interesting! I think the title is great!

What is everyone waiting for in 2019?

@Ohiotaku I thought the original Ancient Magus' Bride was great. But it kinda had a closed ending I think, so I'm curious to see what the actual web anime will be like. -
I thought of something but it is quite somber, so be warned if you are not up to it. This is not something that I per se would have to confess but it is somewhere up there. In high school one of the girls in my class was to get married righter after graduation. I didn't know her future husband and had never met him, but I knew her and she even invited me to her wedding, which I could not attend. Before graduation we had something like a class trip somewhere. On that trip however, she made out with said friend which I personally find quite terrible. After the trip she even invited him to the wedding, which I never understood why exactly. Sufficed to say he didn't attend it, and neither did I, for a different reason though. I always wondered if I should have tried to get in touch with her future husband. As far as I know they got married soon after, but I don't know what happened afterwards. Don't know if this is a confession per se though. @SanguineTear what's wrong with Sylveon, it's great!

@Crevanille I don't think the makers of the quiz cared too much about what they think is right. They say they want to measure moral parsimony, i.e. how many rules does your moral framework need to capture all those decisions. The big moral theories (deontology, utilitarianism) are quite parsimonious, that is they try to explain moral phenomena with one rule. Kinda like people in physics are trying to come up with one formula that explains physical phenomena. Here's an example if you are interested: You are right that there probably is a huge difference between what we think now and how we would act. Who knows what I would do if I actually were in one of those situations. The only way to find out is probably by being in that situation. But I also have to say that the aim is not necessarily to find out what you would do, but what is the moral thing to do. And that is quite important for many areas that affect every person. For example in bioethics where you might have 100 people who need a certain organ to live but there are only 10 organs. These are very real scenarios that occur in real life and it seems difficult to figure out what the moral thing to do is. They also occur in less dramatic circumstances in everyday life (buying clothes made by children, eating higher animals, self driving cars etc), so I would say even if you don't know how you would actually act such a situation, trying to figure out what the moral thing to do is quite important. As you can see I'm quite interested in that field, so if you or anyone wants to I'm happy to debate it in detail

I would have guessed liking girls makes you heterosexual? Also how good was Sakura Card Captor! Just joking, but I get what you mean. What a man/boy should or should not do has changed quite a bit, and when I was that age watching a girl's show was also something people laughed at you at. I don't even know if there are any girls' and boys' shows anymore? For me it was watching football/soccer which, apparently, was something boys were supposed to do? I didn't dislike it but I wasn't crazy about it like many of the rest of boys my age. Haven't yet thought of something for this thread from my own experience.

Hi There Jose! There are a couple of about 30 year olds who are into anime and gaming here, so I think you'll enjoy it here! I see you like My Hero Academia?

Mass / Negative(?) mass
Illusion of Terra replied to Myouya's topic in Astrophysics / General science club's Topics
@Keiko Just saw this (published about a week ago): https://journals.aps.org/prl/abstract/10.1103/PhysRevLett.122.084501#fulltext Apparently, simple sound waves when they pass through solids and fluids have negative mass too They say that the sound wave/particle "carries (negative) mass. Moreover, this is not due to the usual equivalence of mass and energy in relativity: the effect survives in the nonrelativistic limit. And, finally, it is not a quantum effect, because the formalism of Ref. [1] applies unaltered to classical waves." -

I do understand his reservations though. I mean, just look at what they did to him in the beginning. Accused of rape, all money taken from him and trying to be had at every possibility (like at the duel with spear hero couple of episodes back). After that a lot of people would be distrusting when it comes to royals -

I really enjoyed this week's episode, very easy-going. Why didn't they take the Holy Water right away though? Best part was when spear hero talked to Filo "I'll bet that Noafumi is working you like some sort of beast of burden" "But I like pulling the carriage a lot" "Naofumi, you swine, I'll cut you!" -
I don't really have the time to do any gaming, but today I actually played a couple of minutes of Morrowind, a game I haven't played in almost 20 years now. I used to play it with a couple of friends back then and am quite surprised that I actually still knew quite a lot about it (loading screens, certain characters and location of stores etc)

Rising of the Shield hero/ Obsessed 🤣
Illusion of Terra replied to Seshi's topic in Anime Discussion
Gotta say though that I am now liking the show more than I did in the beginning. I still think that the whole young female companion thing is obsolete, but all in all the show seems to be getting better. Kinda like I didn't like My Hero Academia at first but now think it's great -

I might go with Dragon Ball because there would be Shenron who you can ask for a wish. @efaardvark I think turning magic into a scientific discipline might be logically impossible. Not sure this is the right thread to debate it, but I guess magic would lie outside the proper bounds of scientific explanation. -
@ArchieKun Went to the store today and actually looked at the ingredients of a couple of honey brands. Turns out they all are raw honey. It might be that if it is not raw honey they are not allowed to call it honey, because of EU regulations, which are usually quite strict when it comes to food. Anyway what most of them did say is that it is a mix of honey from many different hives. But yeah getting honey from a local beekeeper is probably the best way to go, even though it is more expensive

@Wraithkun I also really liked Naruto. I don't know many that are exactly like it but some that are a bit similar might be Hunter x Hunter, maybe Bleach, maybe One Piece, and nowadays Black Clover I would say which is in general quite similar in some respects. But I think none of them really manage to create the same kind of atmosphere as in Naruto -

@Ohiotaku I think the whole cleaning the mess up by other heroes is some kind of plot device to show that they don't really care. So I expect more of it to follow, although I also don't think it would be too great of an idea. But let's see. The gif is great -

I also think that both knew that the curse was from the shield but didn't want to tell the villagers. I have to say though, I kinda didn't like the whole explanation with the blood and Filo. That could have been done better I think. But overall quite a lot happened for just one episode. @Ohiotaku Your signature image really fits the show -
I agree with @ArchieKun and @efaardvark about the Crunchyroll forum. I also think that their comment section on the videos they offer is sub-par. Although it is a little better now it is still not exactly brilliant. In general it seems that they need to hire a few more people to maintain the non-streaming parts of Crunchyroll.

@Nono Nah I was just curious of what people think who do not work in that area . If you work long enough in a field you tend to forget what people usually think about it and why. But yeah, the context thing is true. Although there was a case where a captain of a ship had to decide whether to let his crew die (who he knew) or all the passengers (who he didn't know). But generally these cases are very constructed I agree.
-
@Nono Why did you think they were silly? I'm not saying they are not, just wondering. Questions that are more or less like this are actually stuff that people have been debating for decades now, and quite a few earn their money trying to find answers to them.

Yeah the honey I get from the person owning his bees is darker in color but I am not sure exactly why. I know that commercially available honey is a mix of honey from bees of many different hives almost all over the world to guarantee that the taste almost always stays the same. Best thing is to make your own but who has the time
-
I didn't even know there was something such as non-raw honey. I've never seen honey that had anything added to it extra. I can taste a difference between honey that I buy in the store and honey I get from someone who has his own bees, but it is not THAT different when it comes to taste.

Photons are crazy in many respects. I once worked on trying to combine photons to create stronger ones which sounds a lot more exciting then it was.
