  1. What is this 'spring break' you are talking about? Where I live there are no breaks Joking, but seriously though, try and do something you enjoy. How long does spring break last? Like Archie said traveling is quite nice. If you have a forest, sea or anything like that you could spend a day outside enjoying nature. If you are looking for more orientation in life you might volunteer to help out at something for a couple of hours (retirement home, day care centers etc.) to get to talk to people and think about what you want to do. Other than that the usual stuff like gaming, learning to cook, reading and watching anime. Not really original ideas now that I think about it.
  2. I wasn't totally convinced of it at first as well. Now I think it is pretty alright. Not the best anime I've ever seen but it is worth watching and I think quite fun to watch
  3. @leyley I don't mind when authors take a completely different path, just as long as it is somehow reasonable. If it is done well, it can be great for a story! If it just seems labored and you get the feeling that they just did that to make the show more edgy/surprising than I think they should just have stuck with the way the story was going. About the Japan women thing, though, I think it's complicated. We can't expect every culture to view things the way the West/the US does, even though we might think we are right. So yeah, maybe female fighters will stay in the background for quite some time. Although, there have been shows like Soul Eater where there are very prominent female fighters.
  4. That's simply preposterous! I do think that's slowly changing though, isn't it? What bothers me nowadays (not so much when I was younger) is when there is too much 'fan-service' in an anime, by which I mean that characters are dressed or behave in a certain way simply because of the fan service and other than that it does not make any sense. If in some way it is well incorporated into the whole story then I kinda get it, but other than that it always looks like a cheap attempt to get people to watch it. Another thing is when they design the story in such a way that there is a huge cliffhanger just right at the end of the season. I get why they do it, but for me it is more important that the story as a whole is well-rounded rather than being attention grabbing at the end of each episode or season.
  5. what a coincidence, that one of the people I'm subscribed just released a video called pop culture Is there like a pack with many different ones you can buy, so I can see what it's all about? I usually don't drink fizzy things but just to try it out.
  6. @Ohiotaku What did you think about the whole getting back to his world thing? I hadn't really thought about it, but I don't think he can take anyone from that world back. I'm also curious about that witch-like character at the end. Wouldn't be surprised if it turns out to be someone that has already appeared (like the king's daughter).
  7. @SanguineTear If you don't want to continue debating it, you don't have to read it, but here's what I think about it. Why I think you are right Why I think you are ultimately wrong (the second might be more convincing for you)
  8. Hi, seems like quite a few people already know you
  9. Never realized soda was such a thing in the US, it's like a whole culture based around it As far as I know it is just another type of beverage here in Europe. I did try that Dr. Pepper though, but wasn't too big of a fan.
  10. Ryuk did say that people like Kira who used the Death Note don't go to hell or heaven after they die. But I'm not sure if that means that he will become a shinigami. Might be, and there might be hidden clues within the manga/anime which people never paid attention to. What I don't understand is how you come to the conclusion that the leader of the shinigami is "the only true god"? If shinigami were only created by people with a Death Note who cause others to suffer, then the leader of them, who I assume is a shinigami?, would have to have been a person who made others suffer. But how did this person get a Death Note in the first place. I don't think there is enough to argue for the idea that the leader of them is a kind of god (outside of shinigami being considered gods in Shinto in general). Maybe someone with some background in Shinto and Japanese literature has more insight to this though.
  11. The 14th was the online one right? Never tried it, but I don't think it even runs on the potato of a computer I have. I guess people here are not that into online multiplayers?
  12. Motor oil is the best, it gives you the energy to complete your daily tasks!
  13. @Seshi I don't think saving your daughter is wrong As far as doctors go: sometimes there is no "best" way, or there are multiple best ways. Doctors are often quite underqualified when it comes to ethical questions. That's why they have ethic committees to create simple rules (such as when it is or is not right to turn off life-prolonging machines, when exactly someone is considered dead etc.), but rules can never cover every single instance, so they are left with quite some problems on their hands they don't really know how to solve. Also I do think it is right to take the life of someone even if they are not a murderer. For example if someone tries to kill me, I do think it is right to defend myself, and if there is no other way, kill them. But you might put that as a kind of 'war'. And what about someone who is in constant, almost unbearable pain and wants to die but cannot end his own life? I'm not saying it is right to kill him, but there are quite a lot of people that do think so and decent arguments they put forth.
  14. Phone service not working for 2 days now. Service provider not responding. Customer service is not a big thing here in Europe

@brycec The veliciraptor was super effective, phone service provider was beaten and phone service finally returned to normal. You know your stuff brycec :)

      Thanks. I appreciate that. 🤣

  15. @Optic Thx for clearing that up, I didn't know you guys had one in the past. But seeing that there isn't an overwhelming majority for it (at least from those who voted) I guess it would not have been used much anyway
  16. I don't know if this is possible for technical reasons, but if it is, would you be interested in a live chat box? A box where you can opt-in/out and see who's online (i.e. those who opted-in the live chat box) and well chat with them. Kinda like the status updates, only live. What do you think?
  17. Interesting idea. Just wondering though, is there something like this already out there? I ask because there seems to be an anime about everything and would be surprised if no one has yet made one about opening a business. Even if there is though, it sounds interesting! I think the title is great!
  18. @Ohiotaku I thought the original Ancient Magus' Bride was great. But it kinda had a closed ending I think, so I'm curious to see what the actual web anime will be like.
  19. @Ohiotaku Wow that really fits the description! How the heck did you find it? Let's see if that's what they were looking for
  20. I thought of something but it is quite somber, so be warned if you are not up to it. This is not something that I per se would have to confess but it is somewhere up there. In high school one of the girls in my class was to get married righter after graduation. I didn't know her future husband and had never met him, but I knew her and she even invited me to her wedding, which I could not attend. Before graduation we had something like a class trip somewhere. On that trip however, she made out with said friend which I personally find quite terrible. After the trip she even invited him to the wedding, which I never understood why exactly. Sufficed to say he didn't attend it, and neither did I, for a different reason though. I always wondered if I should have tried to get in touch with her future husband. As far as I know they got married soon after, but I don't know what happened afterwards. Don't know if this is a confession per se though. @SanguineTear what's wrong with Sylveon, it's great!
  21. @Crevanille I don't think the makers of the quiz cared too much about what they think is right. They say they want to measure moral parsimony, i.e. how many rules does your moral framework need to capture all those decisions. The big moral theories (deontology, utilitarianism) are quite parsimonious, that is they try to explain moral phenomena with one rule. Kinda like people in physics are trying to come up with one formula that explains physical phenomena. Here's an example if you are interested: You are right that there probably is a huge difference between what we think now and how we would act. Who knows what I would do if I actually were in one of those situations. The only way to find out is probably by being in that situation. But I also have to say that the aim is not necessarily to find out what you would do, but what is the moral thing to do. And that is quite important for many areas that affect every person. For example in bioethics where you might have 100 people who need a certain organ to live but there are only 10 organs. These are very real scenarios that occur in real life and it seems difficult to figure out what the moral thing to do is. They also occur in less dramatic circumstances in everyday life (buying clothes made by children, eating higher animals, self driving cars etc), so I would say even if you don't know how you would actually act such a situation, trying to figure out what the moral thing to do is quite important. As you can see I'm quite interested in that field, so if you or anyone wants to I'm happy to debate it in detail
  22. I would have guessed liking girls makes you heterosexual? Also how good was Sakura Card Captor! Just joking, but I get what you mean. What a man/boy should or should not do has changed quite a bit, and when I was that age watching a girl's show was also something people laughed at you at. I don't even know if there are any girls' and boys' shows anymore? For me it was watching football/soccer which, apparently, was something boys were supposed to do? I didn't dislike it but I wasn't crazy about it like many of the rest of boys my age. Haven't yet thought of something for this thread from my own experience.
  23. Hi There Jose! There are a couple of about 30 year olds who are into anime and gaming here, so I think you'll enjoy it here! I see you like My Hero Academia?
  24. @Keiko Just saw this (published about a week ago): https://journals.aps.org/prl/abstract/10.1103/PhysRevLett.122.084501#fulltext Apparently, simple sound waves when they pass through solids and fluids have negative mass too They say that the sound wave/particle "carries (negative) mass. Moreover, this is not due to the usual equivalence of mass and energy in relativity: the effect survives in the nonrelativistic limit. And, finally, it is not a quantum effect, because the formalism of Ref. [1] applies unaltered to classical waves."
  25. I do understand his reservations though. I mean, just look at what they did to him in the beginning. Accused of rape, all money taken from him and trying to be had at every possibility (like at the duel with spear hero couple of episodes back). After that a lot of people would be distrusting when it comes to royals
