  1. I'd be interested in what reason she has. If it is because of something related to this I understand the reasoning, otherwise I'd be interested in what other reason she might have.
  2. I was wondering what happened to this thread. Are you still doing the watch 5 episodes a week? I didn't have the time up until now, but caught up to episode 5. I enjoyed it so far, really mellow as a whole, story music and art style. And on top of it, it has a lot to do with cats, that's an automatic plus!
  3. seems you were right about that darn article 13

Now let's wait and see if and how they actually enforce it. If they take it literally, then I guess almost no more memes or youtube videos in the EU.

  4. and here I was rooting for Raphtalia and Spear hero
  5. am I the only one who immediately thought of one-for-all ? There are too many things that some people could find quirky about me (depends on the people though). I could behave mainstream if I wanted to, but I really don't want to. The most obvious ones would be that I'm quite straightforward and that I don't really use "please, thank you, sorry, you're welcome etc" unless it is something important or I have to, which is kind of a cultural thing and not meant to be impolite.
  6. Yeah, definitely watched it back in the 90s but haven't seen it since. I remember it being very upbeat. If I ever find the time, I'd like to rewatch it!
  7. Hi! There are some other Nintendo fans here (including me). So I guess you'll find like minded people here
  8. Can't blame them though! Who would want to be spear hero
  9. Definitely long anime. I know many people today tend towards shorter anime, but I like immersing myself in the world of that anime and really getting to know the characters and seeing how the plot develops. Buy physical anime or stream/vod it?
  10. That's a tough one, both are great. Currently I would say video games because you can easily play them alone, but if you have someone you can play with I think board games are more enjoyable. Watch an episode a week or wait until season is finished and binge watch it?
  11. @fu11yloaded On the left is Yusuke Urameshi (the second "u" in Yusuke is not pronounced). On the right is Kazuma Kuwabara. Both are from the 90s manga/anime Yu Yu Hakusho
  12. Well, I hope you guys are spot on about the Melty thing. Of course, I kinda expect the story to develop with him and Raphtalia (not Melty or Filo), so I'm not too worried. I don't know, if she kills him, I think Naofumi, it might change how Naofumi and the others see her?
  13. Gamers, would you buy all these games for 110 bucks (euros)? Pokemon (Eeve/Pikachu), Starlink Starter Pack, Soul Calibur 6, Tales of Vesperia, Tekken 7 or wait for them to drop in price? (it's a lot of money, but I hope to get many hours of quality game play out of it if I ever find the time)

  14. I'm wondering who the blonde demi-human was Raphtalia knew (Riphana?). There were quite a few other demi-humans but apparently she stood out. Also I don't think Raphtalia is going to severely hurt that Ibol Rabier guy. Otherwise the show would really take a dark turn. What still bothers me however is the whole Melty Naofumi thing. Just doesn't seem fitting in my opinion.
  15. actually, with the bitterness, I think I've found a way to explain it. Take a fresh lemon and cut it in halves (or quarters). Eat/taste one of the halves right away and it should taste sour. Let the other half (quarter) out in the open for like 10 minutes and taste it afterwards. For me, it's like tasting two different fruits. The first half was sour, the second bitter (like grass). I can also always tell in a restaurant if the lemon was freshly cut or not because of this. Just came to mind, not really important.
  16. @Illusion of Terra Yeah I think that applies to most people. I, for some reason, taste bitter things intensified. If something is even slightly bitter, it is like eating grass to me So unless there is completely un-bitter black tea, it's probably not for me. Green tea with a lot of sugar is something I can drink but it's not my first choice. Happened to me more than once that others would say that something is not bitter, but I couldn't eat it at all. I've no idea why exactly I can't eat/drink bitter stuff.
  17. how can you guys drink black tea straight? it's so bitter!
  18. Hi, that's a great selection of anime! Who's that guy below your avatar? Seems like someone from Yu Gi Oh
  19. So you must think that that people have stopped using it, is quite, how to put it best, on fleek?
  20. I thought the episode was decent. What I really enjoyed was how they are trying to frame him. It seems quite realistic, because I'm sure something like that actually could happen/happens. But I agree with @Ohiotaku that it seems kinda odd that only now that cult is mentioned. A few things seem too fabricated. Raphtalia got the mana sword just before she could use it in a very fitting way, the cult being introduced now etc. I still think it's great but I think it could have been improved without changing too much. And yeah that whole Melty thing really is a bummer.
  21. Captain Tsubasa got a remake? Don't know how I'm just hearing about it now

  22. Ah I see, so it is actually freezing yourself. When I heard it I thought like putting yourself in a freezer and thought that this couldn't be it (well the AC is kinda that way) ('freezing' is also used in behavioral science to describe standing still, just fyi). It sucks that you don't get those for free though. I always heard about problematic cases with healthcare in the US but didn't realize it actually comes down to such a concrete level. Back to topic though, a relative of mine says he has seen one years ago but wasn't able capture it on a device. I don't think I'll see one with the time I spend looking at screens though. You're quite lucky having seen two of them!
  23. I'm actually working on something that very vaguely goes into that direction, when it comes to the theoretical emotional part. So there is a bit of a debate about what exactly an emotional state is and is not, but let's just say it always has some distinct physical representation. My take is that it will not be possible to reliably 'read someone's mind' or mental states because brains are highly individual. There are some important overlaps which can be used but in general it is quite difficult to get detailed/reliable info from it. So by measuring skin conductance, brain waves etc. you might (even now) be able to distinguish between someone who is highly invested in the game or part of it vs. someone who is just doing to to waste some time. But I'm hesitant to say that it will be possible to distinguish between much more detailed decisions, like someone who wants to buy a sword to kill an animal vs a king. What has been used for quite some time though is designing games in a way to condition people. I had a colleague who went into that direction after graduation and he described it as "adapting the game so that the player is not too challenged or bored" which is quite a positive read. You could also see it as adapting a game in a way to make people as addicted as possible given what we know about general reward functions. So if more advanced technology becomes available (like the VR headset also reading data off your scalp etc) I would definitely see how companies would try and use that to their advantage.
