KaiyaSaysHaiya
What aspects of anime are most important to you when you personally? Is it plot, animation, music, character development, world building, length, etc? While all of these are important and contribute to making an anime what it is, which parts do you feel are the most important, or that you personally look out for the most? What does an anime lack that makes you drop it or hinders your enjoyment?
Heavenly_Garden
Hello! I think the uniqueness of characters' personalities and the diverseness of their interactions with each other are really important for me. Basically, avoiding common clichés as much as possible.
efaardvark
I'm about the speculative fiction. I'll watch anything for the entertainment value, but to really grab my attention it needs to be real, at least potentially. My favorite genre is science fiction. I'm not talking about Star Wars (rebranded swords and sorcery) or Star Trek (morality play, scientific bafflegab) either. Ideally it should be a 5 or 6 on the SF hardness scale. The science has to be real and a central aspect of the plot and / or setting. It has to be scientifically accurate, or at least explain (as briefly as possible) where current scientific understanding gets it wrong, how that ties in with the plot, and be self-consistent in applying the consequences of the author's alternate theory to the rest of the story. That said, some of my favorite SF authors are people like Niven or Clarke who take science to its limits, and I'm a fan of Clarke's Three Laws. For anime I'm talking about shows like Planetes, Moonlight Mile, or Ghost in the Shell. Unfortunately those kind are few and far between.
Taps_kamidere
Plot. The animation can be mid, the art can be mid but if the plot is baddly developed or just bad in the first place it is hard to make up for that. I have a hard time watching seasonal isekai seeing 50% of them have almost the same plot, but somtimes i just have to bare with it.

Kuratzu
The first thing I look for to on a new anime is the animation. Since it's the first thing that we can see and judge, I consider it quite important for my enjoyment. If it's something too bad or simple, I don't expect to get anything that good. But the thing that can take me off completely from a show it's the story and character development. I love to watch a good show, which has complex concepts and develop them, as well as characters who grow along the series. When a director only makes its job to say it was done, and basically calls the watcher a stupid dumbass, I just drop it. It doesn't deserve my time. Kari
I like shorter animes so I look for shorter animes a lot. Next it would be ones that are cozy and slice-of-life, sweet to watch, with character building. I don't like any heavy types of anime that deal with heavy topics since I like light and easy watching when I'm watching anime. Animation is important too, I like good animation.

Nico Robin Fan 95
The most important things for me personally, when i watch Anime and it's mainly Shounen Anime, are plot, character development, world building, Great and sympathetic characters, well-made music, beautiful animation, epic fights, emotional moments, funny moments, and awesome arcs. But if any Shounen Anime especially don't have any well-written arcs, great characters, great and believable character development, or epic fights, i definitely won't continue to watch it. Zeref
Storyline is important to me having a good story and plot or I am not interested from the start so then what is the point of continuing it lol I like a lot of character development too and watching character grow and overcome challenges and characters that can be related with.
Ayame
I like romances so I guess that's what I mostly look for in animes, romance anime, good romance stories and plots that I can get lost in.
AnimeShiroX
I love stories that show me that even broken people still carry light within them, and that mistakes are part of being human. Honesty, sincerity, depth and a small spark of hope
Sasuke
Characters that can be related to and a well-written story is important to me, along with decent animation and development of those characters.
RyePotatoes
Definitely the pacing and the plot. These days I often find myself stopping after 3 episodes of a 12-episode long anime just because of a boring plot and the slow pacing of the anime. I want it to be entertaining and would keep me from stopping cause it's hard to pick-up an anime once you stopped watching it really. I just want to be entertained, really.
Zariel
Characters that I can relate to are important for me and above all a story that's fun and interesting. I mostly want to relax when I watch anime so I look for animes that leave me feeling good when I walk away from watching them too. I don't want to feel depressed when I'm watching one so I usually don't watch sad stories. I also like some action sometimes, good fight scenes or graphics for the show can be important depending on what I'm watching too.
