I'm about halfway through Shakugan no Shana. It's enjoyable, but nothing spectacular. I've wanted to watch it for a long time, because it was big back in the day. Also watching Revolutionary Girl Utena. As a fan of yuri, it's been on my list for quite awhile. I'm enjoying it so far, even though it can get a bit meandering. The mistreatment of Anthy so far by other characters has been rather...surprising, to put it mildly.

It worked well as a stand-alone novel, but considering how Sanderson seems to tie all of the Cosmere together, it's not entirely surprising. I'll probably have to re-read it when new ones come out, it's been so long. Have you read any of Sanderson's other books? I picked up Tress of the Emerald Sea, so that'll probably be my next one to read. Only a couple chapters in.

I might need to go in and give it a try!

Finished Dorohedoro season 2, what a gut punch of an ending Glad they already announced season 3, hope we don’t have to wait for more than a year. Gonna try to finish up Agents of the Four Seasons & Akane Banashi today, start Re:ZERO’s latest season tomorrow.

I have a background in computer science and I know a bit about AI, past and present. I don’t have a problem with AI, but I understand why creators of all forms of media are concerned. My main issue is that the big AI companies - Open AI (ChatGPT) and Perplexity and others - make money by scraping humans’ art without providing any compensation to the originators. I doubt the AI companies would reciprocate.

What's even worse is that now AI images are being used to illustrate fake news stories and even create fake news programmes.

Ai takes from legitimate artist and steals their work so I can't say I'm a fan. I don't think you can "Claim" ai art as your own either, since you didn't do anything but input a few words and that's not art. I'm tired of seeing AI art at this point and most of the faces give me the creeps.

Currently making my way through The Summer Hikaru Died. Quite a good pick if you're into Lovecraftian and psychological horror (these are not spoilers, by far the most "present" Lovecraftian element of the narrative is revealed as such in the first five minutes and much of the psychological horror flows out from that overt element).

Just started watching My Hero Academia’s final season & it has been absolute FIRE

I think some of the art AI generates is interesting to look at but nothing more. I don't agree that you should claim AI generated work as your own, as you did nothing but type in some key words. Therefore if using it, should be displayed that it was created with AI. The reality is though we live in a world where technology is advancing and things like AI works are showing up more. Most people can't even tell the difference in if something is AI made or not. I've even seen several pictures of landscapes that I've had to look twice at to realize they aren't real and have been made by AI. I still haven't decided if that's scary or not yet. For now though, I just see them as something fun to play around with from time to time when I'm bored.
