They have contactless payment here in the US but I have to have my phone unlocked to use it or entered the pin for my bank account. Pretty crazy to think there are whole gangs centering around stealing phones nowadays. I had wanted to go because it's only a short train ride away from where I live in Chicago, however we are moving this weekend to an entirely different state so I won't be able to go. There is a few upcoming anime conventions in the state I'm moving to I'm planning on attending so I'm looking forward to that. Hope you have a great time at it and let us all here know how it went.

You should have some basic level of self-awareness when outside because anything can happen such as you said with theft. I am alway annoyed by the people who walk down the street glued to their phones not paying attention to where they are going and almost run into you.
