  1. Love hate relationship with Netflix. Generally you will find it takes a long time for seasons to pop up because Netflix as a rule won't add anything beyond originals until the season has been fully completed. So...extra wait time to be able to watch the whole thing, or find stream sites to follow it as its aired. Also, I envy those who live in the states. You have such a better selection of shows ^^; Still Netflix is a great service for those new to anime. Enabling a search to really decent shows with good quality. And then you can always continue the series via another platform. Its like wikipedia for students
  2. @Illusion of Terra I hope...to never be in your area ever. x_x scorpions scare me. Snakes can be cute. But ugh I would lose my mind being paranoid. I've eaten a lot of weird things =_= Um texture wise, jelly fish. What is your biggest fear?
  3. welcome! Hopefully someone will know what you're talking about. Can you describe the creates and the characters a bit better?

    Speech

I took a speech class in university mainly because I too HATE public speaking. Make sure to practice your speech, it will make you more comfortable. Before you do your speech, take a moment to help get rid of tension in your body (such as squeezing your hands into tight fist and releasing them). Try not to fidget or cross your arms during your speech too its hard to do, but that's what practice is for. When you write your speech try to make sure you bring up points at least three times to hear your speech's goal. A well written speech is memorable. Social media influences people globally, there are a lot of pros and cons to it. How long does your speech have to be? Because you might need to pick a more simple statement to discuss that narrows down your topic. (Be more specific about what you want to discuss - then bring up 3 points almost are arguments or information, then conclude by re-stating those points briefly)

@Anime loveer I loved the book thief. I haven't read the others though. I'll have to check them out. TBH, I haven't been reading a lot of manga...I started reading a lot of Webtoons though.
  8. I tried watching Koi to Uso today. I got three episodes in and had to change it. I felt to cringe ^^; I'm so sad, the concept of this seems like it could go really far if the characters are deeply developed. Is it worth continuing?
  9. I love EDM Im more into chillstep though over dubstep but will listen to both...then again I also like hardstyle polar opposites haha Ive been to a few events for electronic music ^^ im actually listening to Rezz right now. What's your favorite style of music?

I liked the OVA and completely envied Yomiko's room full of books haha. I had watched only a bit of the series but remember not being able to get into it, this was back in like 2007(?) though so I'll have to give it another go. Ascendance of a Bookworm looks like something I would really enjoy. And I'm glad the new season is set. Its annoying when they take forever or just up and quit. I like how it has some historical value thrown in. I'll definitely add it to my list
  11. Hmm fair enough >°< I'd die if it was always hot. And definitely coffee, ever since uni can't go back haha. Romance or Shonen?

@Ohiotaku ohhhh Agent Paper. Nostalgia moment. I watched the OVA first of R.O.D. thanks for the recommendations though, I haven't seen the other one you posted. Fantasy and SciFi are two of my favorite genre ^^ I'll usually gravitate to for decent escapism I don't think I would ever give up reading even if I was busy I wouldn't feel like me anymore.
  13. Seeing how it was requested you share some history of yourself/any projects you've worked on and what not...well unfortunately I am not really qualified, I suppose, to be here That being said I do have vast interests and enjoy these sorts of discussions, and thus far have really enjoyed reading previous topics in this club. Soo a bit of background - I was basically a third year Geology student (2.5 years in) until oil and gas tanked in Canada and then just quit school. I have the option to go back but haven't decided (long personal excerpt could go here but I won't bore you). My sister and her husband are both geologists though. My brother in law has a masters in sedimentary rock and my sister was a geo-engineer (she's now a teacher though because...jobs). Geology is still a big interest of mine though. One thing that stuck with me from an intro course, which I thought to be super fascinating, was discussing how we are due for a geomagnetic reversal sometime soon ...by soon I mean eventually (this is not a doomsday type of topic) the reversal would create issues, but not like mass extinction issues. You might have seen articles last year that discussed the need to updating the magnetic polar north much more earlier than planned and then they will have to do it again pretty soon here in 2020 as it is still moving quite fast. But, this process is still slow. Anyways, I thought it was neat and wanted to discuss it (not sure if others knew about the phenomenon). But, you all seem to be very well versed in natural sciences Quick PBS video for anyone who does not know what I am talking about Seriously, I suck at spoiler tags =-=
  14. Oh wow, the animation! How cu...u...ttee? 0_0;;;;;;; Bye bye earth. Hello nuclear winters. This video made me start thinking about if Yellowstone exploded and the ash fall that would basically consume most of America and south Canada. Add in wind. Funtimes. Also, I enjoyed how they pulled a rubber duct from the rock bedding.
  15. Phone, but if you see long posts - probably was on my laptop....unless its full of typos >-<; Cold drinks or hot?

I love LOVE reading! Personally, I've always been a physical copy type of girl and rather not get a digital copy/e-reader. AND, I will buy books I love however, I do have a library card because... that **** is expensive....(I'd be broke with all the books I'd want to buy lol). When I was younger I had lived in Vancouver for a solid two years after that I wanted to move back home and needed to lug all of my books back with me. I never realized how much I loved reading until I had 3 suitcases of books and a duffel bag of clothing. *Priorities* I don't mind audio books, they're usually my go to when I can't sleep or have a long drive ahead of me....can't...use my hands ^^; When I was in University, I always felt a little like Hermione from Harry Potter, as I would usually be done most of my textbooks before the course truly started. I am a fairly fast reader and like to have a varied selection of books on the go. I can be a slightly annoying person when I get into a good book - my sister used to get angry at me as I would usually ignore everything around me until I was completed a story. Basically, I'm really good at ignoring the world around me when I have my nose in a good article or story. I'm always inspired by the authors of novels and how much research that must go into their work. I mean to create such captivating stories you must know a decent amount of a topic to be able to describe places, situations and actions. For example, you can't write a believable story about a climber if you know nothing about climbing, or it would be a pretty empty story line with no body. I always thought it would be such a fascinating job to become a writer because it gives you an outlet to learn as much as you can and share that knowledge in a variety of ways, although, I have always felt a disconnect from idea to paper. Those who are creative enough to come up with an idea and then bring that idea to fruition - you're amazing in my eyes and I thank you everyday. Here's a short list of some books I've read this past year - keep in mind, I read almost everything haha so it might not be up your alley (no particular order) - An Invisible Library (by Genevieve Cogman) "Series" - Deadly Outbreaks (by Alexandra Levitt) - The Memory Illusion (by Julia Shaw) (really neat book, read if you like to learn about memory in the use of crime, and whether or not its possible to implant memories on people) - Sleeping Beauties (by Stephen King) - Death by Video Games (by Simon Parkin) - The Rules of Magic (by Alice Hoffman) - The Bone Season (by Samantha Shannon) "Series" Mime order - How Can I help? A Week in My Life as A Psychiatrist (by David Goldbloom) - The View from the cheap seats (by Neil Gaiman) - The Night Circus (by Erin Morgenstern) - The Goldfinch (by Donna Tartt) - An Orchestra of Minorities (by Chigozie Obioma) - Lost Connections (by Johann Hari) - Sapiens (by Yuval Harari) General Recommendations: - Margaret Atwood is my favorite author .....so anything? haha - Haruki Murakami another fav auth (start with 1Q84) I also really enjoy poetry authors I would recommend (and are probably already known) - Rupi Kaur - B. Abbott (I have High Poet Society, but he has two books now I think?) - Lang Leav - John Donne Anyways, maybe I'll add more posts about books :3 I feel like, getting to know a person's reading list, really lets you get to know the person. And of course, here's a pic I am currently working on

    my letter ....

I was reading a book called Lost Connections by Johann Hari (Highly recommend for people who are dealing with depression and want another insight on how to cope beyond drugs...or I suppose understand more of the environmental causes of depression), and one chapter actually discusses peoples fears of doing what they dream of doing. (His example was a man who wanted to open a fishing business or something along those lines) WRITE THAT GOAL DAMNIT haha @The History Kid Have you been before at least? I was a sad kid too =-= I think my journal would be quite depressing to read hahah Although, I agree with you, it would be neat to write another self reflection. I have no clue what I would write....midlife crisis bwahah I don't know what my new goals are. ALSO - sorry, speaking of past writings, you guys should check out https://open.spotify.com/show/4ujhMZWw65aklkutNnwmJN its a podcast series called The Mortified and its basically people reading past entries to journals, assignments....they're cringe moments and its more comedy. If you're feeling nostalgic haha. (NOT SAYING @Anime loveer 's post was cringe. I'm saying mine would be so no offense to be made.

    my letter ....

Awe, I miss HS bwahah, so much freedom and excitement to really define yourself. Although, I also know so many people who didn't like HS, just viewed it as another step to get out into the "real" world. I think is awesome to stop and self reflect. I hope you realize your goal of being happy :] but, don't get to caught up on the small stuff - work on things that make you happy. Explore the things you're curious about. Not sure what you want to do in the future for education, job shadow, talk to people, find mentors. I like how you wrote "don't compare yourself to others". I think that is really important to realize.

    my letter ....

Awe, I like this inspiring message to yourself. Do you feel like you've stayed true to yourself and your younger self's goals? Are you in HS or College? I have these messages to myself - however they are definitely not as thorough as yours
  20. My sister once made cherry pie and forgot to pit the cherries. That looks yummy though, why not fruit pies @The History Kid

    phone

    Using a 1+ because my Samsung 8 galaxy 8+ digitizer bit the dust. I'm a klutz, I should have bought an iPhone solely on the cost of self made repairs =-=;
  22. Nyxnine

    Why?

@Ohiotaku Its just a sinus infection lol, I was annoyed though because I have been using toilet paper to blow my nose, ended up going to the store to get more, couldn't because they had none... Ended up getting kleenex though You'd think we were having a stomach flu epidemic. I agree with you, after the first season I was feeling annoyed by the series but I have a tendency to finish things (if I'm not that interested in it though I will watch well doing other things like chores) TBH, it kind of reminds me of the Witcher series in the sense of how its trying really hard to be adult rated but is too...over done? Corny? I don't know how to explain...mashed story together that doesn't have any body to it and feels like a lot of filler? But you kind of nailed it on the head.
  23. But baths are so relaxing 0-0 make time gosh darn it. SELF CARE haha One Toaster = a²n√b What English word has three consecutive double letters?
  24. I'M TERRIFIED OF TORNADOS 0-0;; I would move hahaha Its was warm today toooo CHINOOKS
  25. Christmas....thanks giving isn't really a big deal here ^^; Baths or Showers?
