  1. Does it have to be a canon couple?
  2. I hate math! I just don't understand it...well high-level math anyway. After being forced to take Trig, I was like "no more!" I barely could pass that. I want to go back to work on my MA, but for the program I want to do, they said I needed at least a B or higher for my math classes as well as science. I could only manage Cs...so they want me to retake the math and science classes. This has deterred me a lot...and is also why I haven't gone back to school. Math and science are holding me back. Also, I'm the type where I don't use something, I lose it. In other words, I don't retain the info. My problem with math is that outside of the basics, you don't use math for everyday situations, like shopping or budgeting. Basic math covers that. I have NEVER used junk like Trig or Calc or Geometry, for example, outside of a classroom setting. I've used Business Math outside of the classroom (calculating sales tax) more than these other types of math I mentioned there. So for me, it just isn't useful...unless you go into a profession that requires it.
  3. Oh yeah, it's pretty serious here I heard. The deaths are outnumbering the births at this point supposedly. Last year, the census said something like 1 million were born, but something like 1.3 died. It was apparently a record low. A few years ago, I think in about 2008, companies were doing this incentive thing for men to go home and sleep with their wives, or something like that. That's when I first learned about Japan's birthrate issue. In some places, schools have closed because there weren't enough kids to fill them and this is also bad economically. The old are starting to outnumber the young...who will replace and support the older generation when they retire? Some things I think would help, are shorter working hours for business men and more incentives for women to work as well as more opportunity for them to work after giving birth. It seems most women are opting out of having kids to focus on careers since it's expected for women to stop working after having a child. Some women also face something called "matahara" or maternity harassment. I suggest looking up Sayaka Okasabe in a Google search along with "matahara". What she went through from her boss was ridiculous but she was vocal over her mistreatment. Ok, wow. So much there, eh? lol Let's see...playtime! Yes, best parts of the day, but to be fair, only at the morning nursery I may get a bit tired because we're playing in the park. The afternoon one is inside and they put out blocks, Legos, books, etc., for them to play with. Ironically, I don't have patience for older kids. I like working with kids when they're young. They usually listen and aren't as defiant. They also still really need the nurturing at that age, and I'm the nurturing type, which is why I have loads of patience with infants and really young kids. Stateside, I worked at a childcare center as an assistant, and if the ratio was ok, was in charge of the infant room. Think it was 4:1. They would cry, but it never bothered me. Older kids cry, it annoys the heck out of me.
  4. I meant to mention this sooner or talk about it, but just haven't had a chance until now...sort of. One of you, I think it was Yuuki, was curious about working here a few weeks ago, so here goes all. So, having been here, I have experience working in a Nursery school, Kindergarten, elementary school, junior high school, and a high school. I'm all over the place, eh? Anyway, as mentioned, I'm currently working at two Japanese nursery schools. One in the morning and the other in the afternoon. They're called "保育園 (ほいくえん)" or "hoikuen", but not to be confused with Kindergartens, which are called, "幼稚園 (ようちえん)" or "youchien". They're both pretty similar, but hoikuen are more like childcare facilities, where as a youchien is more like a preschool and the main requirement to get in is for the child to be the correct age. Hoikuen, however caters to working parents or those who just can't take care of their children during the day, mostly...so yeah, mostly working parents...and this is an issue with Japan. Most nurseries have waiting lists and it's more difficult for the kids to get in. Japan has a low birthrate problem and it's increasing more each year. There need to be more facilities of this nature to cater to working mothers, as Kindergartens close earlier...usually. Unfortunately, it's not the case. Sorry, went slightly OT. My experience so far has been quite positive. The staff of both nurseries are friendly and the kids are pretty cool. My youngest is like...under the age of 1 and my oldest group consists of 4/5 year olds. I go in every morning, go around and say "hello" to the different classes and then go to the one I've been assigned that day. I give my lesson (30 minutes) and then join in on whatever else they're doing afterwards. It could be playing in the park, doing an art project, story time, earthquake drill, etc. After that, I eat lunch with one of the classes (either the 3/4 group or 4/5 group) and talk to them. The younger groups 0 - 2, I may help with lunch (if assigned to work with them that day), but I only help serve their lunch and help to feed some because their lunch time is earlier. After lunch, it's toilet/nap time, so the kids go to the restroom. They also have to brush their teeth after all meals. No toothpaste, just the brush. I noticed kids and teachers doing this after lunch in elementary/junior high/high school as well. So, I help brush their teeth. After toilet time, they'll come back and have to change their clothes, so I help the 3 year old group do this everyday. Oh something else about both kindergarten and nursery schools...the kids change right in front of one another and also go to the restroom in front of one another, meaning, they already know of male/female anatomy from a young age. After that, the teachers put down tatami and the kids' futons and they all go in for their nap. This is when I leave. At the afternoon nursery I commute to, I get there right before the kids wake up, so I can't go around saying hello to everyone. It's pretty much the same as the other nursery. They wake up, have toilet time, snack time, and then my lesson. The schedule is different there, though. I have a lesson with the 4 year old kids everyday. All the other kids are once a week, but I still get to hang with them. After the lessons, they have a short play time and then they do their "sayonara" song and then all of the students who hadn't been picked up yet, are moved to a big room so all the kids are there. This is my favorite part of the day, actually. I like being able to see all of the kids and interacting with them everyday as opposed to just popping in and saying hi (like at the morning one). So we have tea time and then play time and such. I finish up there by 5:30, but I usually end up staying later because I'm enjoying playing with the kids so much. So yeah...lot of playing it seems at these nurseries. I only go there Tuesday - Friday, though. Monday I go to different places and they only see me once a week so I have no time to interact with practically anyone at all. I go in, do my job, leave because of the time restraints. I also have to teach six lessons on Mondays. Tuesdays (3 [1 in the morn/2 afternoon]), Wednesdays (3 [1 in the morn/2 in the afternoon]), Thursday and Friday (2 [1 in the morn/1 in the afternoon]). So, yeah...not sure what else I can say....so PLEASE just ask me questions because I so suck and stuff like this. ^^; lol

    Kingdom Hearts

I've only played 1 & 2. I remember how confused I was when playing 2. I didn't have a PSP and didn't know about Chain of Memories. I do hope to play 3 in some way.
  6. Actually, writing does help to burn it into memory. I can't really write all that well now, but I know the characters when I see them because of my writing them when learning.
  7. Wow, you've played the infamous Pac Man?
  8. I was about to say this. You're just picking up on some things from the language.
  9. I chose other. Jousei.
  10. These words weren't confusing, but I did mispronounce the word I'm about to mention. Kendama/Kintama. Kendama is that ball and cup like toy. Anyway, I liked it. I said, "I like kendama", in Japanese but i said kintama. Look it up. I mean yeah, I do like both...but it sounded wrong. lol
  11. God...Hunter x Hunter! Hiatus after hiatus! Some if them haven't been months but YEARS. He's lucky i care about this series. Anyway, some authors take a while because they want to end it at a certain point. Detective Conan comes to mind. Gosho I think wants to reach 1000 chapters or something. I just hope he doesn't drop dead (or me) before reading the conclusion. I also think some keep going because of pressure from the publishers. Dragon Ball and Sailor Moon come to mind. Both were supposed to have ended earlier than they actually did, but they were popular and both were continued. That was a joke. I think he's a Dragon Quest fan anyway. I know a few of the hiatuses was due to illness, the other the birth of his kids. Other than that, not sure. You can see in his work how much the art's changed compared to earlier. Also, there was a two year hiatus and a long one prior to that. We're going on another year now, of beinf in a hiatus. Either way, by this point, i just stopped caring and will take whatever I can get.
  12. Grew up in the US, so used to 12 hour time, even though in elementary school, they taught us military time. Anyway, in Japan, I use both.
  13. I guess. I never thought much about the pair actually and thinking about it, I think Taiora is the only Taichi ship I like where it's mutual between both characters. I like some characters with a thing for Taichi, but not the other way around. lol
  14. I think people liked the concept of Taichi x Catherine because it was the only time we saw Taichi attracted to someone on-screen. Takeru was too. As for Taiora, like many Digi-ships, they were more popular years ago. That's probably why you're not seeing many forums talking about them.
  15. Probably something else, as Maeda Ai is still actively doing voice acting. One of her most recent roles is Sailor Pluto in Sailor Moon Crystal. Maeda Ai isn't even all that old...I guess....unlike Agumon's seiyuu. lol Now she's old, as you mentioned. Maybe she was too busy or maybe it's a company issue. It's like that old Turtles Forever movie special for Teenage Mutant Ninja turtles. For the 1987 turtles for that special, the original voice actors couldn't voice them because of company issues. Voice acting companies or whatever. I think when I watch this show, I think I'll definitely notice Jou, Mimi, and Yamato most.
  16. I don't know anyone there. Don't know any of the shows mentioned either. Still surprising how they have AiM back to reprise her songs, but not her main voicing role as Maeda Ai.
  17. So maybe the Digifest thing in August is going to be this OAV series. It's happened in the past. They would usually show the films for Adventure in summer or spring and they were actually pretty short and were usually shown with some other anime series' movie.
  18. Yeah, I noticed the animation. I usually don't care one way or the other regarding animation with most things. I'm more into the story and characters with stuff. I like watching 1969 Lupin III for goodness sakes and actually prefer the original animation for the original Sailor Moon series to the flashy newer animation of Crystal. lol But...it would be cool if each ep is about an hour long. That would make me happy. They can pack in a lot in an hour.
  19. That's even more disappointing news. All that hype, just for an OAV series. Come on Toei, we want more! You have the kids all back together again. Show them interact and all that good stuff so we can get some non-Digimon-battle stuff on the side. *Whistles innocently and hides Koumi fanart* :-P lol That aside, yeah, I do agree with the Yamato x Sora thing. They shouldn't change that.
  20. Yeah, I'll get over it. It's not actually a big deal. I'm just purposely being melodramatic. :-P Still wonder what the plot is going to be and what is going to happen regarding the 02 kids. Are they going to ignore everything that happened in 02 and the epilogue? If they are going that path, I'm sure a lot of vehement Taichi x Sora/Takeru x Hikari shippers are going to be happy.
  21. *Cries* Not one single original seiyuu seems to be back for the kids. All of the Digimon have their original seiyuu, though. Maeda Ai is the easiest name to read and she's not even doing Mimi's voice. T_T *calms down* Oh well. I wonder who M.A.O is voicing Hikari. Is Araki Kae too busy voicing Chibi Usa in Sailor Moon Crystal? Is she reprising her role as Chibi Usa in Sailor Moon Crystal? I know Kikuchi Masami is hard to get, supposedly....which may explain the lack of Jou in 02. Either way, I want the old cast back...like a reunion... T_T
  22. I hope someone puts this on Youtube. Everything just went by too fast for my brain to register anything. It also raises the question of, where the heck are the 02 kids? Taichi has his goggles back for that intro.
  23. Sucks I can't watch it. Said it has its max amount of viewers. I also forgot that I even had a NicoNico account. I got it about four years ago and have never used it. Edit: Got in. Hope someone else managed to get all of the info. They put up all of the kids' seiyuu and stuff. The first ending will be I wish by AiM and the evo theme is still Braveheart and the opening Butter-Fly. Taichi has his goggles... It just went by too fast so I'm not sure if the kids have their original voice actors or not. Wish I could replay it and pause it. Still sounds like it could be Fujita for Taichi, though. Oh and it seems that the show will start November 21 and that they'll be doing something in August for promotion or something. Not sure.
