  1. See I've been able to watch stuff like Berserk, Eva. Those shows seem pretty timeless despite having that clearly 90's artstyle. However with the shows from the eighties I think it the general pacing differences of that era of Anime that bores me. Like Gundam for example, I've watched the first series and honestly it might have only been forty something episodes but it felt like an eternity of "next time..." stories. Nothing really happened, compare that to Monster or Full Metal which are longer shows, I just feel the pacing of those shows and the charatization is more my wave length.
  2. Yeah, it was pretty similar with me. Without series like legend of the galactic heroes or Yamato 2199 I wouldn't have even realized how good anime could be. I've only been into anime for a short time now, however I too find 90s as sort of a soft barrier for me. Anything older is just not that interesting for some reason. I mean there has been a few 80s shows I liked, but I've most stuck to 90s+ for most of the Anime I sit down to watch.
  3. Well damn, if you were able to help them that be great. However I have no idea how you'd use blockchain to accomplish that.
  4. I remember hearing during the Code Geass Remake movies they made a lot of changes. Same goes for the Rebuild movies. I'm also fairly sure there were two Fate Stay Night Reproduction films released and Fate: Unlimited Blade Works the movie by Studio Deen - that one isn't technically a retelling of the series of 2015 cause it predates it. And I'm pretty sure Blue Gender had a condensed version of the series made called 'Blue Gender: the warrior' I've not seen it yet. I think my list for anime films are; Puella Magi Madoka Magica: Rebellion Wings of Honneamise Fate: Heavens Feel Presage Flower Fate: Heavens Feel Lost Butterfly Akira Made in Abyss: Dawn of the Deep Soul Neon Genesis Evangelion: The End of Evangelion I've seen others but I don't really like them all that much, so it be pointless putting them on the list.
  5. Okay going off you're interests these recommendations might be up your street. So the first ones would be Neon Genesis Evangelion if you haven't seen it. Then there's Ergo Proxy, this one is very atmospheric and is very phycological. Wolfs Rain, the last one a little more obscure but it a scfi-apocalyptic atmospheric show which is pretty interesting and full of mystery. Monster, probably one of the best psychological/thriller anime ever made. Then there's the three anime written by Gen Urobuchi, Madoka Magica, Psycho-Pass and Fate/Zero. Those are all worth a watch, as there again action, psychological and philosophical shows. Of the three Psycho-Pass is probably the easiest to get into, as it original and is set in a dystopian near future setting and as a really cool police procedural aspect to the show. Madoka Magica is likely the hardest as its a deconstruction of Magical Girls so... Fate Zero whilst awesome and one of my favourite anime is part of the Fate universe and that's a whole other rabbit-hole your stepping into there.
  6. I know a couple, some more obscure than others; - Blue Gender, this was one of those adult swim anime. This ones a Mecha series, personally I liked it. The animation dose have some rough spots which holds it back, and also its got a pretty rushed ending. - Witch Hunter Robin, a show also from the adult swim period. This one is witchcraft meets police procedural. I however found the show incredibly dull and drawn out and have currently put it on the back burner, - Wolfs Rain, this show is one of my all time favourites despite how obscure it is. It a really atmospheric show but is an easy watch and very enjoyable. Those three I'd consider the really obscure shows I've seen however some others which aren't very mainstream but also aren't very niche and have a healthy amount of discussion are; - Ergo Proxy, this show is very atmospheric and is in my opinion a must watch. This show is still got a little bit of an online presence amongst the Anime Community, so it not totally forgotten like the previously mentioned shows. - Monster, I've been seeing this anime get more and more praise so it's clearly no longer obscure as it was. It a very intelligence and thought provoking show, so you've likely heard of it if not sat down and watched it however if you haven't seen it yet I'd highly recommend this show. - Parasyte the Maxim, despite being the newest anime I've mentioned this is a show hardly anyone talks about. However if you want a dark, mature action anime to watch this is again a good show to pick up.
  7. When the ending is more dope than the opening song;
  8. Cool man, I mean I've heard and seen the film can have something of a mixed reception. I watched the series within a week and then I saw there were films, found out the third was a direct sequel and sat down on a night to watch it. Homura was my favourite character from the show, so getting a full feature film exploring her might make my opinion bias. I would agree that the first thirty minutes of the film is more fan service, it lots of nicely animated fights but little really going on. I'd always wanted to see the Holy Quintet as a unit fight, as a personal favourite part of the show was; The transformations sequences do get a lot of flack, there is subtle story telling elements in them exploring the different personalities of the girls without directly coming out and saying 'this is the one that runs into things without thinking' so in that sense its defiantly novel. Also the opening might be my favourite from the series, from the song, the lyrics and the accompany animation it just perfect. Also moving away from a Magical Girl show, and something decidedly more manly I've completed HxH Hunter Exam arc. Some people say that's the worst arc of the show. If that is the case, I have no idea how great the rest of the show going to be because I binged that in four days.
  9. Oh, I really enjoyed the film. I don't want to ruin it (for anyone who hasn't seen it) by getting into a spoiler heavy discussion, but I felt the general mystery and it slowly being revealed and the twists worked in the overall context of the plot of the film. I also found Homura's arc pretty enjoyable if tragic.
  10. Well personal opinion here, Evangelion belongs to a special category of anime the deconstruction. Other deconstructionist anime include Madoka Magica and Hunter x Hunter (a manga first). Deconstruction's work best with prior knowledge of the source material weather primary or secondary. As a result, the best experience from the show would be to have a least a good understanding of Mecha. However when I first watched it I found the show overall. Eva also has some Auteur moments from the director, Anno Hideaki, such as long drawn out elevator scenes and a part of himself interwoven into each many character. Also if you watch Eva I'd recommend watch the original series, and the End of Evangelion film. I've recently watched the first three rebuild films and found them lacking.
  11. Currently watching Samurai Champloo and Hunter X Hunter. I'm also showing a few friends, one new to anime, Death Note. So that's on the re-watch list now.
  12. I joined a discord for anime and gaming recently, if you want an invite DM me and I'll send.

It not overly active, but hopefully with some more members who don't mind discussing anime or games it will be.

  13. Well a few weeks back I joined an Anime discord.

It not rule heavy so far, pretty chill but also it could use being a bit more active so if you're looking for somewhere to meet some more fellow weeb's, otakus and gamers message me for a link.

edit: might have broken a forum rule there...

  14. Should have mentioned it has awful selection for images, I think it just draws the images from MAL. At least one of the bots dose. Don't worry I broke the rule too Some times it takes a real man to be best girl
  15. I finished Gurren Lagann with MarathonGuy other week. I guess, now I have to choose to go back to Witch Hunter Robin (10 episodes from the end) or move on to another show. Next show is Samurai Champloo which I hear is pretty good.
  16. Originally I only watched the first episode of Psycho Pass and thought it wasn't all that interesting and moved on. Couple of months later I went back and actually watched the entire series and it easily became one of favourite shows.
  17. Welcome to the forums, it not to complicated to get use to on here it all pretty easy to get the hang off
  18. Well depends on what anime your looking for; A few I can think off would be Fate Zero or Unlimited Blade Works if you're looking for something action oriented. Psycho Pass for something with a little bit of philosophy, police procedural and action (all that works trust me), Wolfs Rain if you want something a little less mainstream and if you want something more serious you could try Monster, that my favourite show and is a must watch. It also pretty lengthy, nothing on the level of like over a hundred episodes. Its also a slower show so if you're into anything with a lot of build up and pay off then that'll be defiantly something to check out.
  19. What can I say... he's a pretty women
  20. I was so tempted to do the same, but for my waifu Saber But in the end I choose to try and really think below Saber who is next. So a 3x3 of my waifu's (and wiafbando) was in order.
  21. Witch Hunter Robin. If you want fourteen straight episodes of boring nothing, followed by an episode that makes little sense followed by another episode of pointless nothing then this is the show for you. And worst part is, there's still another ten episodes that I have yet to sit through and they could also be pointless nothing or completely nonsense.
  22. So much variety... overwhelming there either red heads, tsundere or both of those things combined. He used clip studio I think, or some kind of edit programme. if you don't have something as fancy as that I'd recommend this handy tool on GitHub. 3x3-generator (gqgs.github.io) Punch in the character or show you're looking for an your set.
  23. Started watching Gurren Laggan and Black Lagoon. Enjoying both so far.
  24. I'd never seen any Magical Girl show before, but I had heard this one was different. I think I originally gave it a 7 or 8 but on re-watch I bumped it up to a 9 alongside Rebellion. Also never got why back in the day fans got so angry about Rebellion. That movie was a perfect follow on from the series, in my opinion makes the entire series better.
