Spent today far from civilization.  At work by 5am so we could get on the road before sunrise and avoid most of the L.A. freeway rush-hour traffic.  Didn't get home until well after dark.  In between stuff happened.  It was a loooong day.  No burros were harmed.

Goldstone is actually on land that is part of an Army base, though it is many, many miles from the part where people are.

 

 

 

One of the smaller antennas next to the tiny cinderblock building that was my workplace for the day.

 

Antennas appear like mushrooms in the desert hills.

 

This time here was actually water in usually bone-dry lakebed nearby.

 

Unfortunately the big 70-meter antenna was offline for maintenance/repairs on this trip.

 

Desert hills in the sunset on the way back.

 

Traffic density increased as we left the desert and got closer to civilization.  By the time we got over the mountains and back into the L.A. basin it was the usual bumper-to-bumper and had slowed to a crawl.

An exciting day then. I liked the photos of the antennas and the "gate guards". I know the helicopter is a Cobra I think the tank is an early model Abrams, but I'm not so familiar with military modern vehicles so I might be wrong on that.

today i chilled watching youtube videos and played finalfantasy 7 rebirth

Played minecraft with my brother in Wisconsin.  We found out that if you put knockback on the new spear you can knock a rider off his horse.  So we built a jousting arena.
