  1. Thats awesome! I was going to ask you in your intro thread as well. I hope you and your boyfriend have a good time. Thanks for the info. I have heard everything there is going to be expensive. I can't wait to be at something anime related. I don't get a chance to be in the big city so much these days either.

  2. hi everyone! my name is taryn. i'm 22, from boston, and pretty new to anime. it hasn't even been a year since i really got into it, although i was incredibly into digimon for years when i was a kid. i even had a couple fansites when i was 10. then i got more into live-action fantasy/sci-fi and i sorta broke off from anime. now that it's so much more accessible, i've really gotten into it although i bounce around from title to title a lot. anyway it's nice to meet y'all i'm looking forward to getting to know you!

  3. After something that happened to me yesterday, I wondered if you've ever done anything that made you feel like an idiot. I mean, somethimes, it's pretty obvious that a situation is going the wrong way and yet, you don't realise until it's too late.... Or you're simply too curious for your own good and you end up getting hurt. I, myself, am the curious type. I can't help it, I just have to stick my nose (or hands, to be more precise) where it desn't belong. Yesterday was one of those days as well. Although it started as a usual Saturday morning, with me getting up early to get ready for class, it soon took a different turn when I came across something new (and I just HAD to mess with it). I was in the bathroom, washing my face and blah blah blah (whatever everyone does in the bathroom at mornings) when, for some idiotic reason, I though it would be fun to mess with the razor. MESS. WITH. A. RAZOR. See, my father owns one of those old-fashioned razors (like the one Makishima has in psycho-pass) even though he never uses it. To be honest with you, I have a thing for blades and other sharp stuff. I love anything that can cut (I swear I'm not a potential serial killer ._.). So, I got the razor out of its bag and decided to try and stick a blade in (this one comes with disposable blades, so you need to put one in yourself and then throw it away when it gets blunt). What a great idea!!! Everything was going fine at first and I managed to carefully get a blade in without much trouble. Unfortunatelly, it was sticking out more than it should (or at least I thought so). Guess what my brilliant mind thought next. Yeah, I decided to try and push the blade in. PUSH. A. FREAKING. BLADE. What kind of idiot decides to do something so obviously stupid that will get you hurt???? ME!!!! But at that moment I felt so smart....because I wasn't just gonna push the blade bare-handed. I figured that, if I used the fabric of my pyjamas as protection by wrapping it around my fingers, I wouldn't hurt myself. But of course I wasn't that lucky. When I tried to push the blade, the preassure caused it to cut through the fabric and eventually my skin (it went pretty deep as well). Ouch. It hurt a lot at first, but as blood started gushing out of the cut, I started laughing hysterically like some sort of psychotic maniac (seriously, it's a bad habit of mine to laugh at blood). However, the fun wasn't meant to last because I had to clean up the blood I spilled everywhere Plus my thumb was hurting like hell. Plus I was running late for class. So I just put a bandage on the cut and ran off... I even forgot to wash it with some alcohol so it wouldn't get infected. And then I got to class. Where I had to draw. But being the unlucky idiot I am, I just had to hurt my right thumb. I need my right thumb! And not only that, but on my way home, the bastard started bleeding again and I had thrown away my bandage cause it was annoying me. It was a not-so-great day... And now my fingerprint is ruined forever (I have a feeling I'll have a lot more stories to post as time goes by) I'd appreciate it if you had some stories to share as well so I won't feel alone ._.

  4. Good luck to my fellow AF members who entered! I thoroughly enjoyed reading all entries and I believe that any of the three of us could win this!

  6. I almost asked you in my welcome thread if you were going to AB! I'm going with my boyfriend and it's gonna be my first con too! I've picked up a few things from Tumblr but basically I heard there's baggage check at most conventions for that in between time between check in and checkout and also that you get info the con easier without a bag but you should bring a bag with money and snacks and water.

  10. Welcome to AF Taryn! I hope you have fun and enjoy your stay! What anime are you currently watching? I see you are from the Boston area. I'm from New Hampshire myself. It's good to see another member from New England!

  11. Hello Taryn, welcome to Anime Forums! What titles are you watching or seen recently? Please, enjoy your stay here. Oh that's awesome. Fansites used to be super popular back then, but nowadays people are just making groups on social media instead of fansites. I kind of miss fansites, because I remember they all used to look so unique.

  15. Yeah it's easy to watch that episode without the subs, you just switch over to the dubbed! And boom! No longer need subs But honest answer though, I understand a lot of the words they say but I still always need the subs ._. But at times I can watch the anime without even looking down at the subs.. Sometimes my eyes just catch the words without even looking at them.

  16. I think you'd be able to get the gist of many titles without subtitles as many anime scenarios and character personalities tend to get reused over and over. This assumes you're watching a title with a fairly standard plot - definitely wouldn't work for those psychological thriller titles!
