  1. Never forget that age is just a number and while growing old is mandatory, growing up is optional.
  2. I had that last year, it took ages for the grass to recover and go back to being green again. Although the area of green that I call my lawn is probably largely made of what anyone with horticultural knowledge would class as weeds not grass. But it's green and it looks quite nice and that's all I care about. Oh, and it's got hot and sunny again, currently 28c.
  3. I tend to agree with you about the 13-26 ep format, although I'm quite happy with 52 or more eps as long as the story is progressing and the eps aren't just an endless series of monster-of-the-week battles. I suspect that that's why most of the series I've watched recently have tended to be slice-of-life type series.
  4. I've finished watching My Stepmom's Daughter Is My Ex I quite enjoyed watching it and found the interactions and relationships between the main characters quite humorous. I was a bit disappointed with the ending, the story didn't really end, it just stopped. I've seem various rumours of a second season, apparently there's enough materiel in the source for a second season, but when and if it gets produced is another question.
  5. Welcome to the forum, I hope you enjoy your time here with your fellow anime fans.
  6. It's hot and a bit overcast as we've just had a brief thunderstorm, the garden needed the rain.
  7. I agree 25 but less than 100 is the ideal length, but there seems to be a trend towards 13 episode series, which I find to be too short. There's also this annoying, to me anyway, habit of rushing the ending in the final 5 minutes of episode 13, or worse as a series of stills under the closing credits of the last episode, the worst offender in this respect is Tsuki ga Kirei where the stills showing how the story ended look like they were drawn by a different artist so the characters don't look quite the same as they did in the series.
  8. I remember Serial Experiments Lain, it was one of those series that was very popular and regarded as a "must have" in everyone's collection. Released in 1998 when "The Internet" was slowly entering the conscious mind of the general public and people were starting to have computers on their desks at work, although few had personal computers at home*. Lain, along with some of the books by sci-fi writer Greg Bear, was one of those works that explored the idea that people could abandon their physical bodies and live entirely in the electronic on-line world. Sometime last year I rewatched my copy of Lain and found it to be every bit as good as it was when I first watched it. * At work my managers and colleagues regarded me as some sort of super geek because not only did I have a home computer I'd built it myself.
  9. None of the anime series I like has 300+ episodes. The closest would be Sailor Moon and Cardcaptor Sakura, and even between them their episode count is less than 300.
  10. Welcome to the forum. I hope you enjoy being here and sharing your interest in anime with other anime fans.
  11. It's currently bright sunny and 19c with a high of 29c being promised (threatened) for mid-day. Temperatures promised to be in the high 20's for the rest of the week. After enduring months of cold and wet the warmer weather is much appreciated.
  12. I've started watching My Stepmom's Daughter Is My Ex, it's a Slice of Life series with a slightly unusual storyline about a girl and a boy who lived with one parent each, and who were boyfriend and girlfriend until they broke up, and now find themselves step-siblings due to the fact that their parents getting married. What I'm liking about this series so far is the relationships and interactions between the various characters. I much prefer the verbal sparing and the devious schemes they come up with to stories with lots of action and battles. ... but perhaps that's because I'm getting older... ... but then again, who knows...?
  13. I've started on a sea food diet. Whenever I see food I eat it. !
  14. A couple of pics from my most recently watched series.
  15. One of my friends showed me his new laptop yesterday, and complained that it didn't have a DVD drive, network port and that he needed more USB ports than the two the machine had. I resisted the temptation to ask him if he'd checked the machine's specifications before he bought it, he's not a 'tech person' so he probably picked it because it looked nice. It's a very nice ultra-thin lightweight portable laptop, but not really suitable as a desktop replacement which is what he really needed.
  16. I've now finished watching Charlotte. As I said earlier when I started watching it I wasn't sure what I was going to get, and what I got was a much more serious story than I expected. The solution to problem of protecting ability users was quite logical, but I do wonder if one person no matter how capable they were, could really have done it all single-handed. But overall I enjoyed watching the series and really liked the way it ended.
  17. Having spent the last couple of weeks watching 93 episodes of Cardcaptor Sakura I felt that it was time to watch something with rather less 'cute' in it, cute is good, but too much of it can be dangerous . So I've started watching Charlotte. From the various reviews and comments I'd seen about this series I wasn't sure what to expect and a story about the activities of a Student Council of a special school whose sole purpose is to protect people with psi powers from being used as laboratory specimens by the scientific community is certainly unusual. I found the story to be a bit slow to start, but after the second episode it picked up the pace and got into the story. The storyline has a good mix of humour and serious drama and it'll be interesting to see how it progresses. (As an aside, I think this is the first series I've watched where a female character gets a serious nosebleed!)
  18. WOW!! The finished drawing looks absolutely amazing, thanks for sharing your creative talent with us.
  19. I've just finished rewatching Cardcaptor Sakura Clear Card. I enjoyed the series much more second time round. The series has a rather more serious tone than the original series, but as Sakura and her friends are now teenagers in their first year of middle school so they'd be expected to have a slightly more adult outlook on life. The storyline of the series itself is rather more serious because this time Sakura is not just capturing cards or changing them from Clow Cards to Sakura Cards, she's creating new cards and this puts her and Syaoran in danger because other people are interested in the new cards for their own purposes. So far there are only 22 episodes available, but it's been announced that the series will be continued.
