Wow! That wind sounds really insane and the rain looks seriously heavy. We had a thunderstorm yesterday evening, well, calling it a storm is an exaggeration it was a couple of feeble flickers of lightning and a very half-hearted excuse for a bit of thunder, quite a bit of rain though which was good for the garden.

One of the titles often applied to King Arthur is "The Once and Future King". I love the stories of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table and have both volumes of Sir Thomas Malory's "Le Morte D'Arthur" on my bookshelf.

There's no real evidence that Robin Hood ever existed, but try telling that to the residents and tourist agency of Nottingham! People like their folklore heroes. There's even statues of him in the area, and this belief in folklore legends isn't a new thing. Several centuries ago the monks of Glastonbury announced they had found the body of King Arthur, and reburied the body in front of the High Altar in the abbey church. What there is no doubt about is that the legends of Robin Hood and King Arthur make great stories to read.

With the current situation where you are @Forlorn I think the gift of a calm mind over the next few days is appropriate.

I can understand that, loud high winds always make me a bit nervous and I worry that some damage might be done to the house. I'm not really afraid of thunder but my house is in a fairly quiet road so any sudden loud noise will make me jump! I do worry a bit about lightning because a lightning strike can set fire to a house. Anyway, it's bright and sunny outside again today and the temperature is already working it's way up towards a promised/threatened max of 28C.

When I was working I remember doing a whole week of 8am to 6pm because we were short of staff due to holidays and sick leave. At the end of the week I'd done 10 hours overtime, my manager offered to pay me the 10 hours or give me 2 days extra leave. I took the leave, at the time it was more valuable to me. (the tax man would have taken a chunk of the O/T anyway). That was perhaps a bit mean.
