  1. Time to post up some old time favorites. Amazing Disney medley. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zp1BYzIVi0U Amazing John Williams medley. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lk5_OSsawz4 Cool as ice "Ice Ice Baby" movie mash-up. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oxCKw3VbU54 I have many ERB favorites, but I particularly enjoyed this one, mostly because of my love for movies. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_wYtG7aQTHA I totally love the beat that this rap has. It's so catchy and energetic. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=njos57IJf-0 In terms of the ERB with the best music, I particularly love this one between the two gods of music. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0M0RbaPxq2k And last but not least, I love the rhythm of this rap battle too. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0MW9Nrg_kZU
  2. There's a sense of elitism that comes with certain communities. I'm not one to speak, but I also don't go insulting people in their face.

  3. Wasn't the charm with Nagato due to her stoic personality? Making her a shy moe-ish character just makes me lose interest in this series quickly - and I used to love the movie too.
  4. It's annoying trying to fit into a new community (not this one, I fit in here just fine). You never run out of idiots on the Internet.

  5. Found a few more OPs I like. Watashi ga Motenai no wa Dou Kangaetemo Omaera ga Warui (WataMote OP) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kyEgRBZO4ss Hyadain no Jo- Jo- Yuujo- (Nichijou OP 2) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mUzNLayMrJk Uninstall (Bokurano OP) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=05p646nlYS0 Kuusou Mesorogiwi (Mirai Nikki OP 1) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ql0NtjXIv_s
  6. Oh, it's on now. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CT11bhh5_9U Naw, I'm kidding. I don't listen to vocaloids. I only know who Miku is, so I voted for her.
  7. I actually gave up on anime for the opposite reasons. Now, I'm not sure about the more recent anime, but when I got tired of anime a few years ago, there were so many moe and cutesy RomCom anime out there filled with fluff and girlish stuff. It's all so sugary and pandering to the stereotypical moe tropes that I just couldn't stand it anymore. Like Manifesto said, big boobs, big eyes, tsunderes, yanderes, kuuderes, weeaderes, otakuderes. Give me another Monster or Mushishi anyday, or Kino's Journey, or Aoi Bungaku. Give me Shiki for all I care. Give me the second season of Aku no Hana. Dark and gritty aren't necessarily always bad. Stop with the oversaturation of shounen and moe. Anyway, the problems that lie with the anime medium occur in every kind of medium - movies, TV shows, American cartoons. They will always pander to the 'mainstream' audience that repeat the same generic cheap jokes, have a thin storyline that does nothing more than to pass the time, and they don't serve to engage and impress the audience more than they help you 'escape' and procrastinate. Nothing's impressive anymore, but that's not their fault. It's an eventuality that will occur with every form of art in time, as originality will not last forever.
  8. I dropped HxH after 21 episodes. It just seemed like another generic shounen to me. Don't know why it got all that hype. Nah, I'm kidding. Sorta. HxH did vary somewhat, but not to the extent that I could enjoy it. The similarities it had to other shounen titles bugged me a lot, probably because people kept saying, "It's not a shounen! It's a more intelligent shounen!" blah blah blah. So I was focused on nitpicking the flaws that every shounen had, and ended up not enjoying it at all. FMA:B, on the other hand, was pretty darn entertaining... despite also suffering from the same shounen cliches sometimes. When I first watched it, I didn't know what the term "overrated" meant. Probably a reason I sat through it without complaint. It was one of my first real anime, after all.
  9. I'm surprised no one posted more often in this. I'm kinda lazy to post all my past favorites right now, but I found this really funny video about action heroes that I just have to share: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HJ6gNBaTJHw
  10. During a time when I used to watch the Pokemon anime (while playing the games while I'm watching the episodes), I loved the Japanese openings, especially the ones from "Advanced Generation". One particular OP I could never stop listening to (even till today) is this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_u9ZIrNKPxo Oh yeah! GANGAN susume kaze kitte GANGAN iku ze saigo made Kanzen nenshou YES, I'm OK!! I LOVED the chorus.
  11. Gintama, the latest series, titled Gintama°. Currently watching episode 2. I could just kick back and laugh my day away with an entire marathon of Gintama. Man, I love this show. The new episodes are just as great.
  12. Wasn't there a similar tabletop game many years ago? I remember this tabletop game where the players get to roleplay disgusting and inhumane actions that are downright immoral. lol I'm not going to list examples, but damn, I have to admit that the kind of edginess that comes with these games kinda entice me.

Yeah, I think it was a hum. It's like one of those background noises you get in an enclosed room, even with your electrical appliances turned off. I'm not too sure, to be honest, as I haven't recorded anything for a long time, and I have really bad memory. haha...
  14. Downloading GTA V cracked. Derp. Because I can. But really, I don't even know if the pirating team has cracked it properly.

  15. It's been a long time since I've played any card games. With card games, you usually need friends to play it... and well, ever since I got the Internet, there weren't really many opportunities for me to do much socializing outside. Everyone's got a Facebook now anyway. And besides, they've made video games that lets you play card games on a computer screen. lol... Back then though, I did play games like Pokemon TCG and a tiny bit of Magic the Gathering. Magic never stuck, though I loved the flavor texts and the monster pictures. As for Pokemon, I used to own thousands of fake cards bought from a vending machine for a couple of cents. Then I started collecting real ones - even bought a card album - and then I kinda threw them all away... I don't know. My childhood's kind of messy. Never really got into the other card games like Yu-Gi-Oh! or Digimon, but I did naively think that the Dual Masters TCG was going to become popular when it was first released, and so I begun to collect a little bit. But I lost interest in it very quickly. I tend to not hold interest over things for long periods of time.
  16. I've already posted her in the "My favorite female character in anime" thread, so I'll post a different picture this time: Miki Sayaka from Madoka Magica
  17. For the record, another reason I've never liked dubs is precisely because of the low quality dubbing that comes with the process. Dubbing, for the most part, is done for profit. It's to cash in one a foreign show made by someone who's actually more motivated to tell a story than the dubber. This is not just in American dubs either. You can find the same thing in all kinds of foreign dubs, making money off American movies and TV shows with poorly-made dubs. And yes, even the Singapore dub of Digimon I've mentioned yesterday was the same poorly paste job. The thing that I liked though was how faithful it was in translation to the original Japanese dialogues compared to the American dub. Being an Asian country, I can see why this is a more natural process in Singapore than it is in America, but still, it is a far better dub IMO. So really, when you said it's because of the targeted audience in mind, the targeted audience usually comes in greens. No matter the show - anime, foreign movies, etc. - the targeted audience of the dubbers is often the cha-ching in their wallet, though that's obviously not always the case. I've never liked the idea of associating capitalism with art. It's an impractical ideal, probably, but still. I think it's important what the artist's intent and motivation are when creating the art. Now you're generalizing anime as a medium. Not all anime has those traits. In fact, I would even dare to say many anime that aren't mainstream shounen crap don't possess those traits, especially the slice-of-life anime that portray Japanese the way they are. On the note of whether if the characters are drawn to look like Japanese, on the other hand, take note that this is very much a personal perspective. I don't mean to imply any objective thinking in this matter. It's just how I personally see it.
  18. I know that there are a number of good quality dubs out there. However, I don't know, maybe it's an Asian thing, but I've always been bothered by anime with American voices. Maybe it's because of their accent mixed with those oriental faces (I know characters from anme like DBZ are considered by Americans to be drawn like American people instead of Japanese ones, but I still felt like they looked Asian to me). And it's not English voices, because the Singapore dub of Digimon Adventure was in English, but I had no problems with that, because their voices didn't sound American (and also because it didn't squeeze in American pop-culture jokes that are about as cheesy and corny as an Adam Sandler movie). I guess it's a habit you've got to build growing up, like eating vegetables. Otherwise, it would just be weird when you experience it. Bad dubs like Digimon aside, I have seen one good dub - Pokemon. And that's ironic, because I've always preferred Digimon's story. It's a shame, really. Pokemon has its moments of shameless American jokes too, but I've never felt like they tried as hard as Digimon did. I mean, Digimon season 2 had "donkey jokes" related to Davis, whatever the hell that means. That kind of humor just sounds all kinds of stupid to me.
  19. Just finished playing BioShock: Infinite. Man, that's a great ending... and a rather depressing one too. Yeesh. Talk about bleak.

  20. My parents pay the bills, so I don't really have a choice not to help them with the technical aid. And boy, do they need help. They are uneducated, so machines that have English instruction manuals, when they break down, I'm usually the one they seek help from. My dad knows that I'm lazy and usually doesn't put up with my attitude, so he would choose to get help from his students instead (he's a teacher). Normally, they would get me to help with the Internet connection that I share with my dad, or more commonly, my dad would get me to help with his iPhone because he doesn't really know how to use it (it's not really an iPhone actually, it's some kind of Sony Ericsson imitation... I think). You know, technology stuff like that. I don't even have a phone right now, so it does bug me when he asks me for help with something he bought but does not know how to use.
  21. Gosh, it's been so long since I think about an OP that I really love. I have several old OPs that I liked back then, though I don't listen to them as often nowadays: Gintama OP 5: Donten. Badass. You could just feel the sheer badassery of these hardened warriors under the grey sky. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YCq4-r9annU Gintama' OP 1: Tougenkyou Alien, where my profile cover came from. When Gintama was announced to have a brand new series, I was so excited, and this OP totally exemplifies the 'fresh new start' excitement that comes with the new release. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-B3rpKfva1w Detective Conan OP 5: Truth ~ A Detective of Love. Classic. This totally sums up what I love about the old Detective Conan: action, drama, romance, suspense. Oh, the nostalgia. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7VZMUaWGlwg Detective Conan OP 13: Kimi to Yakusoku Shita Yasashii Ano Basho Made. Boy, that's a mouthful. My favorite DC OP so far, even more so than OP 5. I just love the exhilerating chorus so much. Gets me excited about the show everytime. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=70gpSIUgmW8 Detective Conan OP 14: START. You can't talk about DC OPs without mentioning "START". It's another fun, exciting OP that has such an awesome beginning, or should I say awesome "start". http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GvYlCnVVxE0 Okay, I know I'm posting a lot of vids, so I'm just gonna sum up the rest of my post. I also like "Everlasting Luv" and "Revive", both of which are the newer DC OPs. DC's Butterfly Core was really awesome as well, as it harkens back to the days of old detective dramas, having that 'noir' feel to the OP. On a final note, I still like the Digimon OPs a lot, even though it's been so long. The one I love most is of course... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Se-2l5A2wu4 Edit: Sorry, I messed up the embbing there. Ended up reposting the same video...
  22. The reason I love tsunderes more than the boring ol' moe is because I feel that there's a certain kind of vulnerability that comes with putting up an act, an insecurity that makes me want to just tell them, "Hey, it's cool. I like you the way you are. No need to get all defensive." Of course, that statement's probably contradictory, as being defensive is their inherent nature, so why tell them not to be defensive, right? But I think it is that defensive nature, that sense of insecurity that I could relate a lot with, being pretty insecure myself. I think that's the biggest reason why I personally like tsunderes a lot, because I relate with their vulnerable humanity.
  23. Yeah, it's kind of a shame that it isn't that kind of show. lol I wish that tri. would incorporate some of these realistic romance elements into the show in a slice-of-life kind of way. I've always wanted to see Digimon Adventure in a slice-of-life setting, something that really furthers their character development instead of focusing on the gimmick that's Digivolution again. Don't get me wrong, those are cool and all, but I've kinda outgrown such things. One thing to note: what you said about Sora falling out of love, while it makes sense, I've never really felt that Sora had expressed any romantic interest, even if we are to include the rather unrealistic aspect of 10 year olds being in love with each other in season 1. If anything, the only one who's shown any interest is Taichi. Sora didn't show interest until the "Bokura no War" movie, and even then, it was merely implied in the movie that Sora had started to be more concerned about what Taichi thinks of her (and by extension, her hat), not outright crushing on him.
  24. My fear of bugs is getting out of hand. -.- I'm afraid to take the elevator of my apartment because there are winged things at the lobby.

Uh, what? lol I don't think we hold that kind of meeting. My apartment unit's kinda an individual contract bought from the government. It's not really associated to the neighbors in any way.

Ah I see, here in Australia for apartments it's pretty common to have a strata scheme due to the shared amenities/facilities. Pros and cons to both approaches..

Yeah. I'm not really a people person, so having a shared scheme might not work that favorable for me anyway. lol
