Seeing the Macross Frontier movies at the cinema last month. The 1st one had maybe a dozen people in the theater, the 2nd maybe 7 Still wearing anime t-shirts & hoodies in public on weekends at my age. Watching 12 - 20 anime series per season for the past 5 years.

(setting aside the intro with Knives & Rem, the new character design for Vash looks younger to me) Just a first impression, but I’m kinda apprehensive about it instead of hyped at this point

Not sure how much due to it being a summary film, though my understanding was it actually did make some changes to the ending. I really wish a streaming service would pick these titles up. I don’t mind paying for something i enjoy, but not really a fan of blind buys especially since I expect the physical releases to be expensive.

Watched the first episode of Netflix’s Spriggan remake. Kinda like Indiana Jones meets Ghost In the Shell. Pretty cool. Also the first ep of Phantom of the Idol. Made me chuckle a couple times, so will stick with it short term at least.

I watched both seasons of it. It’s not your typical sports anime as it centers on adult players instead of highschool or collegiate. It’s also not very action oriented, focusing more on the mechanics & strategic elements of the game but also slice of life. The drama & interactions can be different too, with a focus on trying to build a career in baseball (making the most of the opportunities that come your way, trying to minimize injuries & keeping in mind that your career as an active player is likely short). There are instances of young talented characters who cut there careers short with stupid mistakes, but also veterans with a long career who never actually made much of an impact. There is humor in it too, though. I can see a lot of people getting bored of it or being turned off by the artstyle, but as someone with an interest in baseball I found it enjoyable enough & definitely a departure from the norm.
