  1. I still haven't watched any of this yet. I keep forgetting about it until it gets mentioned by those I know who watch it. Maybe I'll eventually check it out despite the series being nearly 100 episodes in. I did like Dragon Ball Z and I liked GT in the beginning, but I still prefer Dragon Ball to both of those series. My problem with GT was that it started off feeling like Dragon Ball and then ended up going the Z route which turned me off from GT along with other issues I can't recall right off. I'm pretty sure that Super will probably end up doing the same thing. For those who are watching it, what are the pros of Super? I do know of some aspects of it, like there being a God mode now and black Goku or something like that. This is an interesting view regarding this series. I guess in the case of DB's formula, Japan is going with the, "If it's not broke, don't fix it" mentality. It's still a popular series and still plastered all over the place in games, toys, reruns of DB, Z, and GT still airing on television to this day, etc. I'm not sure about how anime is now so much. I don't watch much of anything and haven't in a long time, unless it's something older anyway, so I wouldn't have noticed the changes you have. Do others feel this way regarding shows like Super?
  2. Well, as long as you get something out of it, right? But yeah, I never thought much of it. I think getting some of the basic grammar down would help a bit with subbed anime.
  3. I'm not sure if it truly counts, but how about Hellsing?
  4. Had to think about it, but I would have to say Chobits for its predictable ending....but to be fair, it ended up the same in the manga, so I would have to say the same for its manga counterpart. I was hoping that the anime would go off on a tangent and choose a different ending.
  5. I can't even draw a straight line with a ruler, so none of the above for me. lol
  6. Hm, I guess I could say the Sailor Moon theme. DiC's Sailor Moon theme because it's so close to Moonlight Densetsu. lol I don't favor this over the original (Head Chala), but I do like it....Rock the Dragon from DBZ. The Monster Rancher theme. It's catchy to me. Samurai Pizza Cats theme. It's just too funny.
  7. Wish my computer could still play disks. I have to use my DVD player. lol Thinking about it, that may just be the nostalgia talking. It was my favorite of the the main Sonic Genesis games (Sonic 1, Sonic 2, Sonic 3, Sonic & Knuckles).
  8. Hm, I like quite a few. Some of my favorite soundtracks are... Donkey Kong Country 1 and 2 Sonic the Hedgehog 2 Chorno Cross Final Fantasy IV, VI, IX, X Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess I just recently bought the soundtrack to Breath of the Wild (even though I can't play it). I haven't listened to it yet, though. I hear it's really nice, though.
  9. Yep, loads. It says, "Aru hareta hi..." It could mean "On that sunny day..." or "On that fine day..." Something like that. It's like the opening line of a story book. I would say, "On that fine sunny day..."
  10. I think it should always be sorted out by genre. For instance, in the first post, Clannad After Story was mentioned. I saw it...it was...okay, I guess, but that style and genre just isn't for a person like me. Too sappy. For extreme stupidity and comedic randomness, I would recommend a series like Excel Saga or the Jungle wa Itsumo Hale Nochi Guu series. For something with sci-fi and action, I would recommend Cowboy Bebop. For people who like big robots and mechs, I would just point them to the Gundam franchise. It has a 40-year history...one of the series are bound to draw a person in. For a fighting series, I guess I'd recommend Dragon Ball, Hunter x Hunter, Naruto, etc. So, um, yeah... lol
  11. A couple of series I really like are Yoroiden Samurai Troopers and Lupin III (1971 version)...but neither are timeless as they definitely reflect the times they were made in, especially the latter. It just screams late 60s/early 70s. To me, it's like comparing the 1960s run of the Jetsons with its 1980s run. As a kid, I definitely preferred the latter as the former felt slightly sexist to me...especially that STUPIDITY over how bad women drivers were. Hm, maybe a good example of a "timeless classic" is something like Sazae-san. You can pick it up anyplace, and it doesn't feel too dated despite its being on since 1969. The writers/animators purposely keep it that way too, I heard. It's not boggled down by a lot of pop cultural references or a lot of super high technological gadgets. The stories are also nice and simplistic and good for the whole family. I guess another I'd pick is maybe Cowboy Bebop. It's set in the future, but it isn't too farfetched either. It had nice characters, stories, action in some eps, etc.
  12. I can read everything, except for that third character. It's not clear enough for me. Could you take another photo of it, please? A clearer one? Edit: But for the sake of argument, let's say that it does say, "Turkey sandwich". lol
  13. At the time I came up with my name, I was really into two series in particular...kind of. Okay, I just couldn't think of anything. lol SSJ = Super Saiya-jin (DBZ) Jupiter = Sailor Jupiter (DBZ) 81 = year of birth
  14. What anime series do you like? Just read the manga series that they were adapted from. After that, just look into series based on the genres that you enjoy.
  15. I didn't know you guys were still doing this. Enjoy everyone.
  16. Cool, so right here in Tokyo. Hope you enjoy it. From Waseda, you can easily visit Ikebukuro and Sunshine City.

  18. Cool. Which part will you be moving to and how long will you stay here?
  19. Sorry, I've been busy with the new job all. I still check the board, but not posting much. ^^

      Wodahs

And even tho we miss you we can wait

  20. *Points to earlier post in this thread regarding English teaching* Every situation is different. Just because your friend found it stressful, doesn't mean the job itself is stressful. It depends on the company or one's boss and that goes for any job a person has, even in one's native country. Maybe your friend had a bad work environment, which led to the job being stressful.
  21. Before moving here, I'd never visited either. For working purposes, I'd recommend finishing up university and getting your degree. It's an immigration requirement. You could always try studying over here. There are places like Waseda that caters to international students.
  22. Well then, you get 90 days right off the bat.
  23. I felt this way about Hellsing and Noir. Neither series took place in Japan, nor were the characters Japanese (aside from the assassin girl in Noir), so seeing these dubbed didn't bother me much.
