  1. I think it really depends on the person looking to understand and their ability to pay attention to details. People have told me that I am a very understanding person before, but I cannot do it on the spot, due to the masks we humans have, not to mention we live in a society where everyone thinks people are all extroverts and that men, regardless of disability or ailment, are not as vulnerable as women and that they are stronger than women. So, as long as those stereotypes are in place, it will not be possible. However, if you can acknowledge the obvious weaknesses in statistics, and realize that humans are all basically the same psychologically, then it would not be too hard. Unfortunately, right now, reading fiction that is written well is the only way to truly understand others.
  2. Have you read A Silent Voice?

    NAS

I have a NAS with 8 TB storage (RAID 0 on 2 hard drives). I use it mainly for backups, especially video backups and store my content for Plex. My NAS does have a Media server, but it was not too good for what I needed, as I had slow Internet at the NAS's location, and Plex let me set bitrates manually. I would get another one, but one that is compatible with Plex, so I did not need to use a separate machine as a server.

Captain Underpants was not bad. It was hilarious and fairly enjoyable, but I would not say that it gives me everything I want, except for a what comedy movie needs.
  5. I might not have been completely satisfied with my vacation, but I do not want to go home yet, since I will have to attend church.

  6. Not to mention, a lot of how I hear marketing works is in the fact that they use data from the past, whether it be as recent as a few months to a year or much longer. I might not be great at marketing, since my own books have not sold well (though there are more reasons than just marketing), but I sure do not feel like I am following the herd, like many Hollywood studios and book publishers are.
  7. You make some good points here. Our biases do affect our ability to judge, and there were some terrible movies released in the past, especially considering we have books that are now considered classics, but were not well-received when they were originally released. Thing is, we, as humans, seem to always give people in the creative fields an incentive to create and put out works that should not see the light of day.
  8. I agree with a lot of what you said, and the video was hilarious. As for my take on the subject, many modern movies are terrible, but not unsalvagable. One of the big things I emphasize when I review books, anime, and manga is that a work of fiction can feel original and unique, even though it might not be either, as long as things are executed properly, and a lot of the things that make a great book also apply when one wants to create a good movie, although movies are a lot more involved. However, the current movies being released, with a few exceptions, have that feeling of being yet another rehash and capitalizing on the popularity, instead of trying to make it stand out on its own. You and I find different movies good and bad, but I wish we had more movies that would have as much feeling as Clannad and Narcissus had, instead of this feeling of a complete lack of originality.

True, they deserve all the praise that they can get, because they need to know what they did right, but my main reason, which you are probably already aware of, is that nothing we create is perfect. A writer asked me to post a review that I wrote on my blog to Amazon, and I listed it as a perfect 5/5, due to having no major issues, but I probably would have actually rated it a 4.8 or 4.9 out of 5.
  11. Thanks for reassuring me there, as I do not have to take precautions, such as trying something that I do not think would work out too well.

That makes sense, and I am certainly not a fan of his work released today, but things like Gilmore was at least much more hilarious, which is why I viewed Gilmore as a good movie, though I would not give it a perfect score (I would never rate any fictional work a perfect 10/10 or 5/5). Tommy Boy is a classic, at least for my generation here, so that is kind of surprising.
  14. In a way, you have me interested enough to meet you and see you go on a rampage. On the other hand, that might actually scare me, as I am not a very violent person, even though a lot of my jokes involve violence and death, so I guess I would need a friend with me to keep me safe.

Transportation and financial issues actually. I usually take the bus, and month-long passes cost $30USD, but my funds are too low to get the pass and a movie ticket, not to mention I will try not to leave theater, since I can get lost easily in those screening rooms. Yeah, there are still some decent Hollywood films, just like there are still some good books being published, even though many big name writers now seem like they have no talent at all, but those are still few and far in between, especially because movie studios tend to add eye candy for the sake of having eye candy. Where are the great movies, like Adam Sadler's Happy Gilmore or Chris Farley's Tommy Boy?

Wish I could, but I only have access to FUNimation, Crunchyroll, and Hulu, and Hulu seems to only get Hollywood titles (need more money to get titles on Blu Ray or iTunes). I have to agree that Force Awakens was not that great, and it might have been better if Jar Jar came back as the ultimate Sith Lord, like people have wanted for sometime.

Only movie I am looking forward to is Star Wars 8. Movies these days really disappoint me enough that I have practically given up on the US movie industry.
  19. Back at home base, but want to be alone, due to feet being exhausted and things got louder all of sudden. Can I finally relax yet?

  20. Out near the sea, and some guy told me "bless you're. Kind of weird as I did not sneeze.

Must have been a serial blesser. Stay frosty out there.

  21. I do not know for certain, since I played so many, but I believe it was Machine Knight from Kemco.

  23. Welcome, Freya. I hope you like it here. Everyone is really nice. Also, your username reminded me of a character in an RPG I played once.
  24. That is kind of making me feeling sad for you, since I finished reading a series where a character grew up with an alcoholic father and he got visions that allowed him to experience how people died and I am reminded of Tomoyo's backstory a bit, though nothing that bad happened in her backstory. I hope that Zoop is making your life that much better.
  25. No shame in that. I used to like Goosebumps too. What is your happiest childhood memory that you can remember?
