The Ascendence of a Bookworm anime is getting a continuation

https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2023-12-06/ascendance-of-a-bookworm-light-novels-get-more-anime-by-wit-studio/.205167

Welcome news indeed as there was mixed messaging about whether or not it would be greenlit.

I see that Crunchyroll have put up their first listing of new series for 2024.

Not a lot there to interest me, but I'm pleased to see Bottom-Tier Character Tomozaki - Series 2 in the list. I'll also give A Sign of Affection a look as the storyline looks interesting. Both are currently airing, so I'll follow my usual practice and wait until they finish airing so I can mini-binge them without having to wait a week or so between episodes.

Seems like a pretty sparse season to me as well. Normally I follow 15-20 seasonals & binge about a half dozen at the end. This  season seems more like only a dozen total. Will continue watching Frieren, Apothecary Diaries, Ragna Crimson & Shangri La Frontier. Planning to watch Solo Leveling and the 2nd seasons of The Dangers in my Heart & Tsukimichi. Will at least check out Metallic Rouge & Sengoku Youko.

Currently though trying to finish off some 2023 series.

I found an English subtitled version of the Yuru Camp series 3 trailer.

This evening I saw a post on Facebook that said series 3 will start in April. I hope that's accurate and not someone's wishful thinking.

While not as hyped, I’m also curious about this as it’s the follow up to the Bunnygirl-senpai anime & it’s first movie

CR started posting it’s roster for the Spring 2024 season https://www.crunchyroll.com/news/seasonal-lineup/2024/3/13/spring-anime-2024-crunchyroll

Yuru Camp 3 is definitely one for the watch list. But I didn't think much of the rest of the line up, so far.

It'll be interesting to see what's behind the question marks.

Hope this gets picked up for US streaming, as Star Blazers (the Americanized version of Space  Battleship Yamato) was my intro to anime and I enjoyed the two previous remakes (2199 & 2202)

They just added season 3 of Sound Euphonium which I believe is a series I’ve heard you mention

About damm time

https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2024-03-18/disney-to-stream-nearly-all-macross-anime-worldwide-in-2024/.208882

some people may not be happy about Disney picking up the licensing deal, but given that they’re older series with a lot of nostalgia it kinda makes sense to me

Good News, I think. Not that I'll be able to watch any of it as I don't have a Disney+ account.

I tend to alternate between Netflix & Hulu/Disney+ as series I want to watch accumulate. Crunchyroll is the only subscription I keep continuously.

CR has added a countdown clock to their site for the 1st ep of Kaiju No. 8. Unfortunately many times them hyping a series turns out to be a kiss of death. Time will tell I suppose.

CR started listing their summer roster (debuting July)

https://www.crunchyroll.com/news/seasonal-lineup/2024/6/18/summer-2024-anime-crunchyroll

Honestly not seeing much to be hype for. Will likely continue Reincarnated as a Slime, MHA & Dededede. Planning to watch 2nd seasons of Tower of God, The Cafe Terrace & it’s Goddesses, Oshi no Ko (though that’s Hidive). I’ll inevitably find some new seasonals, but planning to try to take care of some backlog series like the 2nd cour of the Ruroni Kenshin remake ahead of season 2 this fall, Catlevania: Nocturne & Scott Pilgrim. And still haven’t watched live action One Piece & Avatar:TLA

I'm not over impressed by the summer line-up so far either.

Shoshimin: How to Become Ordinary.- From a Light Novel by the creator of Hyouka, so it has to be worth a watch.
Shy Season 2.- The first season was quite good fun, so I'll give this a chance.
Alya Sometimes Hides Her Feelings in Russian.- I've seen a lot of comments about this one, most of them favourable, so I guess it's worth a look.

It'll be interesting to see what's behind the question marks in the list.

Apparently Ranma 1/2 is getting a remake

https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2024-06-25/rumiko-takahashi-ranma-1-2-manga-gets-new-anime/.212191

I don’t know that I ever qualified as a “fan” but it was one of the first anime I experienced on VHS back in the 1990’s & I do have some fond memories (particularly the 1st season & the 2nd movie). So I’m sure I’ll at least give it a look.

Ranma 1/2 was very popular back in the day and I quite liked it and have a couple of DVD box sets of the series. I tried to watch a bit of it a while back and it didn't really appeal to me anymore.
