Elise
Hello, I've started making a manga of my own, and I was wondering what were some tips for creating one? I already have some characters drawn here
CSR1980
Your characters look awesome! I want to make my own as well (I'm not going to post my terrible looking characters). From what I've read in my research... Making the outline of the story is key (like writing a book), then story boards, then actual fleshing out of the manga itself. I'm doing mine by hand. (because I don't have any computer art skills) I don't plan on publishing mine so I didn't do any research on that aspect. There are some good YouTube channels that cover a lot on making a manga. Yuuike, My Mangaka LIFE, and Artfinitii, to name a few. I don't know if that was any help. Best of luck!

Looks very fun tho, what program do you draw in? Clip studio paint?

Clip studio paint? at the very least, its no joke, especially since im not writing a script "ahead of time" (its all generally in my brain on how i want the story to flow) and yea, i use CSP (clip studio paint) for my arts, been using it since it was called "manga studio", never really tried any other application (aside from photoshop, which was used more on cleaning manga's on my childhood days im still young though, dont get the wrong idea edit; which reminds me, if all else fails, you could do 4-koma as a start, assuming you plan on manga making, which honestly, is what i shoulda done >_>

DylanMax
Start Small Don’t try to draw One Piece on your first try. Begin with a one-shot or short story to avoid burnout. (Even Oda struggled early on!) Write a Solid Story First Plot holes hit harder than Goku’s Kamehameha. Outline your arcs, flesh out characters, and decide your ending before drawing. Art Style? Steal. I Mean, Study Every mangaka borrows from their faves. Copy poses, expressions, and paneling from pros (Toriyama, Takehiko Inoue, etc.) until you develop your own flair. Paneling = Pacing – Bad panel flow kills tension. Read Death Note or Tokyo Ghoul to see how masters guide the eye. Consistency > Perfection – A "meh" manga you finish is better than a perfect one stuck in draft hell. Set a page-per-week goal and stick to it. Feedback is Painful (But Necessary) – Share drafts with harsh friends or online communities. If they say "I don’t get it," fix it. Tools Don’t Matter (Much) Clip Studio Paint? Pen and paper? Stick figures? Use what you’re comfy with. (But if you go digital, learn layers like your sanity depends on it.)
froggy
I've drawn some manga in japanese, and I'm drawing an english comic for my ap art class. My advice would be to manipulate the use of black and white. In manga, screen tone, brush pens, and g-pen, spoon-pen, or maru-pen are commonly used. G-pen in shounen, and maru-pen in Shoujou. In art, the eye gravitates to white, so if you put black in the right places you can easily control the reader's eye. Moreover, the flow is dictated by whether its an eastern or western comic. In manga, it is read vertically, right to left, and top to bottom. In western its the opposite. So be sure to keep that in mind.
