But not entirely sure how soul-crushing it really was to me; I don't believe it was intended to be satisfying, but I was strangely satisfied by the melancholy I felt after watching it (hopefully that makes sense). Like how "you can get addicted to a certain kind of sadness", the kind that makes me want to re-watch it and experience that feeling again.
