That must have been a horrible experience. On the road I used to walk along on my way to work was this section where the drain was often partly blocked and so when there was heavy rain a HUGE puddle formed so in wet weather I always checked to make sure there were no cars coming before I passed that bit of road. (In the UK drivers can be prosecuted for soaking pedestrians.)

The shop was crowded, but thankfully not uncomfortably and everyone was being patient and polite so there was no pushing and shoving, which was nice and made for a more pleasant experience. I'm really glad to hear that you've patched things up with your mum. It wouldn't have been good to celebrate Christmas while still upset with each other. I've given out all my presents now and am ready for Christmas as well.

I went shopping the morning, I usually go on Tuesdays but there's no way I was going to go on Christmas Eve, that's a mistake you only make once! The supermarket has a huge car park but there were loads of cars in it, thankfully I found a space fairly quickly. Inside the shop was very crowded but I managed to get everything I wanted and was fortunate in finding a checkout that didn't have too long a line.

That's a good plan. It was sunny and cold here too, 4C cold , I had to go out in it as I need food! Thankfully my car has an efficient heater.

I agree with that, falling over and having random strangers help you back up is seriously embarrassing. I'm also worried that the fall would break something and I'd end up in hospital.

|I hope this goes well and you have a great time celebrating the mass together. Yes were are all sad to see our minister leave us, and we're now starting the process of finding our next minister. It took the three of us just over an hour to put all the candles in the candelabra, about 45 minutes after the morning service for us to carry them into the church and set them out, they are seriously heavy! It took two people, we only had to gas lighters, 45 minutes to light them all up. They've all now been removed from the church so that the building is clear and tidy for the Christmas morning service on Wednesday.

Thank you. I always think the church looks really special on carol service evening. We don't "do" candles they're just not part of our tradition, but when we do do them we do them in a BIG way It was built in 1935, so next year is our 90th Anniversary.
