  1. Still cold, but that's more to do with the wind-chill. At least it's not raining.
  2. I think this is often the best plan. I've generally found that as I've got older my peer group are more accepting of people's different interests and hobbies even if they're not interested in them or regard them as a load of rubbish but I still find it better to be careful who I share my interests with because deep down we all care, if only a very little bit, about how other people think of us.
  3. I think you're right. But then again an occasional bit of sugary sweetness can go a long way.
  4. I finished Akebi's Sailor Uniform this evening. A well animated 12 episode series with nice art work. It's the story of a group of middle school students getting on with life and encouraging and supporting each other. Sounds boring, but I found it to be highly enjoyable and interesting to watch.
  5. Yes, it sucks big time. There's a lot of complaints in the comments section about the missing chapters as well. As I've got the manga of the original series I looked at buying the new series, but they're £8 - £10 per book and with 10 books already published, and the series not finished yet, it would have been rather too expensive!!
  6. It's dull, overcast, wet, miserable, a bit chilly and 10C and it doesn't look like it's going to get any warmer any time soon.
  7. That's a good blog post. I think in that transition period between your final years at school and first years out at work there is a pressure to show that you have grown up and no longer have an interest in the things you liked when you were younger. I know that in my case during that period if I'd admitted that I still liked and watched Thunderbirds and Stingray it would have totally destroyed any street cred I might have had and made me the butt of many jibes and jokes. Later on in life I no longer cared what people thought of my choice of entertainment, to the point that at one time I happily wore a tie featuring Thunderbird 2 to work. These days I remember this quote from C.S.Lewis. “When I became a man I put away childish things, including the fear of childishness and the desire to be very grown up.”
  8. I've just had a look on CR. They've got chapter 1 of Clear Card, then it jumps to chapter 39. Chapters 2 to 38 are missing!
  9. Thanks for that information. I will continue to hope the rest of Clear Card anime will follow... at some point. In the meantime I might try reading the manga on CR.
  10. I've just started watching Akebi's Sailor Uniform. It's a nice little SoL series about a girl named Akebi who wanted two things when she started at middle school, to wear a sailor uniform and make lots of friends. There seems to be no major dramas in this series, unless you count Akebi finding out on her first day that the school uniform is no longer a sailor suit. Her efforts to make friends are more successful. There's quite a bit of humour in the series, but it's the subtle type that comes from the reactions of Akebi and her friends to various situations.
  11. Ah, yes. The usual problem of being an Early Adopter.
  12. Welcome aboard. Pull up a cushion, or a chair if sitting on the floor is not your thing, and make yourself at home. You've come to the right place if you want to talk anime!
  13. I've got an earworm!

"Song for Friends", the closing song from episodes 3,8 & 9 of Little Busters Refrain keeps playing in my head.  It's a nice song so I don't really mind it being an earworm.

You're right, it is a nice song. Haven't watched a single episode of this so cannot comment on the story. I have seen you mention it before though.

  14. Welcome aboard Pull up a cushion, or a chair if sitting on the floor isn't your thing, and make yourself at home. I hope you'll enjoy yourself here and find lots to interest you among people who like to talk about anime.
  15. Just watched one of my favourite films. Makoto Shinkai's "The Place Promised in our Early Days", stunningly beautiful artwork and animation and a wonderful soundtrack from Tenmon.
  16. You know the old saying: "Dogs have owners, Cats have staff".
  17. Whoever comes I wish you all a Very Happy Christmas.
  18. 396 Could also be 400 if rounded up!
  19. I've now finished watching Little Busters Refrain. This second season of the series is better than the first season because the story is better paced and flows more smoothly and is much more dramatic as Rikki and Rin slowly discover the secret of the world and the shocking truth it hides. Based on the revelations about the Little Busters in Refrain I am now of the opinion that the poor pacing of the first season's episodes was a deliberate attempt to show that the world the Little Busters lived in was somehow "out of kilter" and not quite right, but the animators didn't quite pull it off. In my opinion Refrain has gone a long way to redeeming the series and I will certainly watch it again, and probably enjoy it a lot more. One question remains, how did I miss "Song for Friends" the beautiful and haunting song that ends episodes 3, 8 & 9 when I watched the series for the first time?
  20. This is a beautiful song with lyrics that touch your heart.
