  1. Today I gave all the worktops in the kitchen a really good clean, not just the usual wipe down. Oh! Hang on it's now past midnight so technically I did that yesterday
  2. In most of the buildings I worked in paper deliveries were not a problem. However, the last one I was in it could be a nightmare. It was a HUGE building but with a SMALL loading bay and the building was subject to a planning restriction that no deliveries were to be unloaded in the street, and that included a delivery driver just taking a single small package out of his van and walking into the loading bay with it, that was considered unloading in the street! So when the paper supplier turned up in a 40 ft artic lorry that was game over because the bay could only hold a small transit type van. I had LOADS of arguments with the paper company about the size of van they sent my deliveries in. And there was this crazy lady in the apartment block opposite who had nothing better to do than take pictures of anything she considered a violation of the no unloading in the street rule and sending them to the local council.
  3. It was late at night so they were probably just being their weird crazy selves for a while
  4. It certainly feels a bit different to riding a normal elevator.
  5. I'm annoyed! I wanted to print something out and my laser printer printed out one sheet and then put up a message saying "replace toner" ! And I don't have a spare, so I've ordered one but I've got to wait until it's delivered tomorrow. I suppose I can't really complain, the old cartridge lasted me 2 years and 2 months.
  6. I think she might hit him hard if he did that
  7. I want some of that rain. It's bright, sunny and 26C again.
  8. Yes, they totally exist. Here's a pic taken from inside the one at Farringdon Street looking down the incline. The great advantage of them is that they can be installed alongside an escalator and have the same start and finish points.
  9. Just to spice this topic up a bit. There are three railway stations London that have inclined elevators, they're like ordinary elevators but they travel diagonally rarther than vertically. They're great fun to ride.
  10. The SR.N4 doesn't look that large from a distance, but when I stood in front of it and walked up the car ramp and stood in the car deck I was totally blown away at just how massive it was, I stood on the car deck for quite a while taking in just how big it was.
  11. This sort of thing happens every so often here. A new member is wandering round looking at all the various posts and decides to post to a long dead topic and before you know it it's no longer a dead topic
  12. @Zeref, @Sakura While I knew OF the SR.N4 and had seen film of them in service I'd never actually seen one until I visited the museum and I was totally blown away by how huge they were. I spend aged just wandering round it inside and outside and thinking that this huge machine could actually fly across the channel. I don't think that the museum actually offers hovercraft rides, but I seem to recall from my visit that there was a hovercraft operating from the slipway opposite the museum that give rides but they weren't operating the day I was there. I have had a ride in a hovercraft, way way back when I was about 10 one of the seaside places we visited on holiday was doing rides round the harbour.
