  1. We could definitely use more ideas; the more people that contribute, the more rounded the story will be in my opinion. I was thinking the Island could have a history involving an ancient grimoire whose knowledge is unique to the Island, there being only one surviving copy of the book. And I did have some alternate names for the protagonists: Osmond Clayborne for Alexander and Asia/Aria Alighieri for Willow. I do like the meaning of the name Alexander though.
  2. @LonelyPoet Thank you for giving the idea a more concrete form. I feel like this is one of the hardest parts of the writing out of the way . Now we have something to work with! As far as changes go, I thought maybe the imaginary friend who convinces Alexander to leave could be a familiar of either one of the Ophan, or Willow, in an early attempt at seeking him out. Maybe also to show he has the potential to be heir to a flame. Also, do you have any details on Willow's personality?
  3. I'm sorry I haven't been making any progress, setting time aside to sit down and put my nose to the grindstone is something I've never been good at. There is one character I had an idea for that I'd like to include though, one of the rivals if that's okay.
  4. The first two opening songs for Kenshin are 10/10 for me. I especially love that scene where he's fighting that guy with the chain. Amon: Devilman Mokushiroku Ending
  5. Ok, here goes... the Empyrean is the heavenly variety of three flames (other types are of water and earth) which are the dwelling place of God, and whoever inhabits one of these flames becomes a deity. Each flame is guarded by an Ophan, or angelic being. To obtain the right to possess a flame one has to reach their breaking point; without exception this must be an ordeal that truly threatens the individuals' sanity. The flames can also only be possessed by two people of opposite sexes, with one inhabiting the flame and holding the power of God, and the other being able to execute that power. ...thankfully I'll have all day tomorrow to work on this, so I can actually try to pull a story and some characters out of this lol. Also @@LonelyPoet is that a pet chicken?
  6. Definitely gonna think this over this week, hopefully by Thursday night I'll have a halfway decent idea. Also hope to have more details by Thursday night, I need a little time to mull things over.
  7. The style will probably change too, the first volume is too early for me to judge the series by. But I have a local store that specializes in manga and anime. If I'd ordered online, I would've chosen Amazon for two-day shipping, except this week the first five volumes are on sale at RightStuf, so
  8. I thought of a concept today, not fleshed out at all, but I'm still gonna throw it out there so maybe I can get an idea of where everyone else is coming from as to what sort of story we want: A man is obsessed with finding the truth that will bring all strife to an end, so much that he rejects the ordinary path the world has set before him. He seeks this truth through isolating himself and consuming books and TV programming, but the world seems to be dead set against his search for the revelation he needs. Until he meets a girl who says she wants his help to find "The Empyrean". As he gets caught up in her plans to reach The Empyrean for the sake of his truth, he finds it increasingly difficult to uphold his worldview as it comes under fire from the people determined to preserve conventional life on earth.
  9. I've always wanted to do something like this, but I don't even know where to start... I can draw decent, and I'd like to contribute to the story if possible.
  10. I actually got the first volume of the manga last year but never got around to reading it, the art style is a bit off-putting to me. The concept is really what interested me, in a similar vein as Pupa, but I doubt this will betray my expectations like that did.
  11. I've heard of it but doesn't look like something I'd particularly enjoy, maybe someday though. Night on the Galactic Railroad
  12. I haven't touched most of the popular shounen shows that were gateway series for a lot of anime fans. I'd formed negative preconceptions about series like Yu-Gi-Oh! based on advertising, where all you ever see is Yami-Yugi. I'm now reading the manga and watching Duel Monsters, and I'm enjoying it. I do plan on giving the other shows a chance (currently watching Dragon Ball), they're just not at the top of my list right now. It seems like there's a million ways people recommend watching Fate anime. UBW is a separate route though, and in my opinion unless you plan to read the visual novel it doesn't really matter. The 2006 series has elements from all three routes, so that might even spoil the Heaven's Feel movies for you.
  13. I went deer hunting the year I turned sixteen, because my dad goes hunting every year and wanted me to try it. Most of it was just waiting in the cold for hours for something to show up. When my dad did get one, he ended up shooting it in the gut... helping him gut that deer was one of the few times in my life a smell brought me close to getting sick. In the end it's just not how I want to spend my weekend. Fishing I'd be more open to since I could go in the summer, though I haven't gone in the last ten years or more.
  14. Sana and Akito from Kodocha. They're so different but complement each other so well because of it.
  15. Growing older used to hold a lot more significance than it does now. I always had this incomprehensible idea of what makes an adult, so it took a while to realize that growing older doesn't really result in some profound transformation I've grown up believing in. I've become a different person than I was, but of course not in the way I would've anticipated. On the bright side getting older comes with more exp which would hopefully give one more patience and goodwill.
  16. A Pokémon OC I made (this may have been in the old CC). But seeing this thread has inspired me; I need to start drawing again.
  17. I can't stand to have one part without the other. I usually eat double stuf dipped in milk so the part of the cookie I dipped almost falls off from oversaturation. Recently I felt like spreading some crunchy peanut butter in between on a whim, and it's just as good as I expected.
  18. Gokinjo Monogatari and Toei's Yu-Gi-Oh!. I loved collecting the cards even if I wasn't good at the game so I figure it's time to give the show a try. Not sure if I'll tackle Duel Monsters just yet though.
