Here's another one: I believe I mentioned before that caning in classroom is an accepted act of punishment in Singapore. The first time I was caned during secondary school, I screamed like a little b****, holding my a** and hopping around like an idiot. I ended up huddled in a corner of the class, begging them not to continue with the caning. My discipline master (the one who performs most of the caning) would use this memory to humiliate me in the future. Good times.

Here's another one: I've always been afraid of bugs. Small bugs, big bugs, roaches, wasps, bees, hornets, etc. Especially roaches. There's just something that gives me goosebumps about bugs, whether it is their hairy exterior or the way they're able to crawl up their leg, or land their icky bodies somewhere on your skin. I hate them. As a kid, I remember that there were these wasps that like to visit these tiny holes on the side of our school desks. They probably wanted to make a nest of it or something. Not that I care. They would be a nuisance to others, but for my 10 year old self, it was terrifying. A wasp of some sort being that close to me. The way it hovered around me with its uncanny black body like some kind of demonic specter. I remember hopping out of my seat when the wasp got too close. Naturally, the whole class laughed at me. My teacher even said I deserved it, and the wasp is some form of karmic retribution. As soon as class was over, during recess, I ran out of the class and towards the nearest toilet. I cried my eyes out, not because of that stupid bug, but at how they had all laughed at me. That is just one of my many bitter memories of school. Ah, good times.

lol @Rika at the 0 end of "how much they deserve it"... then if you look at the other extreme end, there's Bernkastel Trollkastel. Hard to disagree, but...

A lot of my latest embarrassing moments occurred at the place where I frequent most: online. Usually, it had something to do with me jumping to conclusions and making a fool of myself in an argument. I can't help it. I just write whatever comes to mind and hit the submit button all too quickly. lol Aside from that, there was a painful moment back in secondary school (middle school in American terms). There was a girl I liked. A prefect. She was quite popular, especially among girls, a short-haired tomboy with tanned skin. It happened on Valentines Day of all days. I wanted to do something special for her and leave her some gifts. Of course, my classmates told me it was a bad idea, and that girls don't like boys who confess their feelings indirectly like a coward. Taking their advice, I confessed upfront instead and gave her the gifts in person... in front of the class. As I remember, I didn't plan it that way. She was heading towards class and I just happened to catch her in front of the entire class. Big mistake. She rejected me, coldly and bluntly. I was humiliated in front of all my classmates. I've never liked Valentines Day ever since, having more reason to hate it than most bachelors out there. I've also never confessed to another girl ever since. Better a coward than a laughingstock. And in some small ways, I guess I do still resent her. I know it's not her fault, and she was put in a pressured position at the time in front of the whole class, but still. That was my most embarrassing moment in my life. And I'll never forget it.

Nope. Even if it's on me, it's still a stupid writing decision. If they wanted to kill off the character from the start, they shouldn't have given the decision to save them at the end of season 2 anyway. It's exactly like Mass Effect 3's ending, when you refuse to pick any of the stupid tri-flavored options, and then the little shit tells you, "SO BE IT!" What a dumb choice and lazy writing. And it's not just the fact that they killed them off that's terrible, but just how they killed them off. It was such a lazy way of removing two main characters without giving them proper closure that it felt stupid and unsatisfying to have ever saved them in the first place. [spoiler=Season 2 and 3 plot spoiler]I think Jane's death was the most appalling of the two, as they turned her into an emotionally weaker woman than she was in season 2. Left a bad taste in my mouth.
-
Considering that one of the two people you saved at the very end of season two got wiped out in a single scene at the very start of season 3, a scene that that barely lasted five minutes, I'd still say the choices don't matter. That death in season 3 was a slap in the face, Telltale telling the players, "Hah! Your choice in season 2 was a joke. It didn't matter." It shows what kind of half-ass company Telltale is, probably killing off that particular character for convenience in writing. The first two seasons had some good writing, I agree. Not amazing, not even great, just good. The second season in particular had weaker character writing compared to the first. A lot of the writing decisions in season two also felt like ass-pulls that came out of the left field, particularly Jane's dumb trick that felt like a forced plot-device.

Have you watched Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood? Seems that you like a lot of shounen. You might like Hunter x Hunter (2011) as well.

8/10. Better than the visual novel since it gave all the characters closure rather than leave them depressed when you choose another character's route. Digimon Tamers

Like I said before, there's nothing much to eat in the morning where I live, so I had to get creative. I took two Gardenia butter bun rolls and added some cheese, some Korean corn-flavored biscuits, and some green-colored Kueh Bangkit that Chinese normally eat during the Lunar New Year, and mixed them all together. I swallowed the first one too fast to get any flavor, but the second one tasted rather good. I could taste the corn and the coconut flavors all blending together with the cheese. It's... delicious. Too bad there were only two buns.

I gave up on that game after the pathetic "episode 1 and 2 bundle". It was barely a bundle and more like a single episode split into two. This isn't even taking into consideration how disappointing the writing was, of course. Telltale has been my least favorite storytelling game company for a long time now, more often a mockery I use as an example of when Bioware games give choices that don't matter.

I just reached Luka's ending in Steins;Gate. I think, with each ending reached, I'm beginning to respect these conclusions more than the original True End. They are all very well-written resolutions that felt satisfying rather than without a proper pay-off. And this makes me want to talk more about Faris' ending. I realized that the last time I talked about it, it sounded like I really disliked Faris' ending except the final part, but I feel that is both inaccurate and unfair to that ending. Now that I've taken a few days to really soak in that ending, I feel like I could accept it better now. Okabe cutting off all his friendships to be Faris' husbando was hard to swallow at first, but I feel that's just part of Steins;Gate's charm in showing how life isn't something you could wrap up neatly with a perfect ending, and that there are consequences to bear. If as a reader, having Mayuri and Daru not remember Okabe was too shocking to accept at first, then it must've been doubly difficult for Okabe in the story. And yet, Okabe chose to take responsibility at the end and ensure Faris lives a happy life with him in this new worldline. It was a very satisfying conclusion in that respect. As for Luka's ending, it has the similar vibe of Okabe taking responsibility for his actions (albeit only after Kurisu's encouragement this time). At first, I thought it was just going to heavily focus on Mayuri for the entire ending, but I like how it ended up and handled Luka's grieve for her friend. This time, she's the one who takes the same stance that I admired Okabe for, to accept her actions of sending that D-mail to become a girl, and to bear the burden and grief and keep living on anyway in a new life with Okabe. As I said, these endings are all very well-written, and I wouldn't have minded if any of these endings were the last episode of the anime (though maybe not Suzuha's ending, as that might have been too open-ended for some audiences). They give Suzuha, Faris, and Luka a very satisfying closure that we could accept, and they have such a realistic perspective on what happiness is, and how to rise above painful grief and other sadness and to keep on living. It's little wonder why a lot of people encourage others to read the VN even if they have seen the anime, because there's a lot of life lessons and values you can take from these endings you'll not see outside of the anime.

More double-posting (triple-posting?) of emotional osts! [spoiler=Conan's Theme (Sad Version, Sax)]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kgTlhRLTox8 This is another version of Conan's theme that I posted earlier. Katsuo Ohno loves to have different variations of the same soundtrack, not that it is a bad thing. This one also plays during some of the more sorrowful criminal confessions. I like both versions of the confession theme, so it's hard to pick one. [spoiler=Detective Conan Movie 3: Ai Wa Itsumo]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cm4khBiai4o Iori is known to have sung some of my most favorite emotional OSTs. This one played in movie 3 of DC, when Conan was forced to confess to Ran his true identity after seeing Ran crying her eyes out about whether if Conan was Shinichi or not. The same song was also played in my favorite scene in the TV series, when Vermouth was trying to kill Haibara, but Ran protected her instead. Vermouth then remembers that time when both Ran and Shinichi saved her life. You can see how the entire scene plays out . That scene in the TV series was just a whole bundle of turbulent emotions played out between three characters: Ran who's trying to protect Haibara, Haibara who's reminded of her dead older sister when Ran protects her, and Vermouth who doesn't want to kill Ran because she has saved her before. It was easily one of the most well-written scenes in the anime, and the soundtrack really helped made the scene much more emotional. Of course, we can't talk about heartfelt songs that tug at your heart without mentioning the tearjerking Steins;Gate... [spoiler=Believe Me]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5rYI2eG3DuQ Such a powerful song that resonates the despair of Okabe as he struggles through worldline after worldline while witnessing Mayuri's death over and over again. Depressing. [spoiler=Farewell]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oAZSrrVk1TE Another song that's difficult to listen to without tearing up, particularly when it was played during the reading of Suzuha's letter. I cri evrytiem during that scene. It was just so depressing and devoid of hope. Even after that scene, when it's played during Okabe's dilemma of whether to reverse the happiness the D-mail has brought to the other characters, it's still just as emotional. I still feel really bad for Faris. Interesting enough, for an anime that's filled with so much slice of life humor at the beginning, one might be surprised at how bleak and gut-punching the story can be.

Yeah, I'm out of ideas at this point. Sorry... Maybe you could try taking a screenshot of what you pasted in your signature, the bbcode that is, not the actual image. I think this is more of a problem with AF than it is with MAL, but I could be wrong.
-
Never mind, it doesn't work. Here's a screenshot of the code instead: Your signature should be displayed as the above in bbcode form, without RyderFlynn. Again, be sure to check you have copied the entire thing.
-
Hm. For me, your signature is displayed as a broken image link. Be sure to check that you have copied the entirety of the text that MyAnimeList told you to copy, and not just a portion of it. Check the bbcode of your signature. Your signature should look like this: Except replace "RyderFlynn" with your MAL username. Edit: Never mind. I cannot link the code to show you what I mean. Give me a second to adjust it. Edit 2: I'll send you a private message instead. Hopefully, it should show you the code without converting it into image form like above.
-
That's weird. Did you configure the options under the "Options and Colors" section? There should also be a description that says, "Image Type". You have to click under Image Type and choose what information you want your signature to show. You should see a list of options when you click, like Custom - Recent Anime Updates Custom - Recent Manga Updates Custom - Anime Favorites & Totals etc. Be sure to customize all that first, then try pasting it again in your signature.

Have to double-post because of the "five media per post" limit: There's another unreleased track here that also tugs at my heart: [spoiler=Pumpmon and Gotsumon's demise]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1p5Nm_BAez4 This was played after the death of two other characters, Pumpmon and Gotsumon, when Yamato and Takeru looked back at the places those two guileless Digimon once fooled around in. It's scenes like this that really set Digimon apart from Pokemon because it reminded the audience just what the stakes were when the good guys lose. [spoiler=Seven (Acoustic Version)]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c2t0Uhwv-10 Ah yes, Seven. The acoustic version lacks the happy-go-lucky nature of the original version. I think this is a more appropriate and effective version, particularly when you consider the line, "seven try to be free", as in trying to break free of all these deaths and despair thrust upon them. Yet another song that speaks of how depressing Digimon Adventure can be at times. lol Last and definitely not least... [spoiler=Butterfly (Theater Version)]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bpq2q0qf2e8 That moment. When Mimi's hat flies out. Song plays. God, the tears. It's why I often associate Mimi's hat as one of the definitive icons of Digimon Adventure. And what an amazing ending this was for a fantastic season. It's just one reason why season 1 of Digimon was that memorable for me. Speaking of memorable Digimon seasons... [spoiler=Digimon Tamers - Promise of the Setting Sun]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=THpC-pf_IdM This season was unsurprisingly a lot more bleak than the first season. Characters don't necessarily get happy endings (merely bittersweet ones), and this song represents well the constant melancholy of the show. In the scene above from the second Digimon Tamers movie, Ruki was possessed by a parasitic Digimon and was forced to remember some bitter memories, specifically the dirtbag father that left her and her mum. I remember this one fondly because even at the end of the movie, you'd see her looking towards the sun by her lonesome - at her very own birthday party, away from the others. Her father wasn't there. There was no optimistic scene where she reunites with him. Nothing schmaltzy like that. It was realistic, much like the rest of Digimon Tamers, and it didn't need to be "dark and gritty" to achieve that emotional resonance. Amazing season. Finally, Detective Conan also has its share of tearful OSTs: [spoiler=Conan's Theme (Sad Version, Vocal)]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5NdcUtahcEI The anime loves to play this one during a criminal confession. On very rare occasion, when the confession is particularly sympathetic and isn't just another cliched villain motivation, that soundtrack above becomes very effective and tearjerking. I feel like this was more frequent in the earlier episodes of Conan, like the first 100 or 200 episodes.
