Character, yes: Miki Sayaka. But talking about why she's underrated would take so much time and a lot of texts, so let's leave that for another time. Underrated anime: Shigofumi, maybe. It's one of the first anime I watched, and it had a really cool concept. It's about letters from the dead being sent to their love ones from the afterlife. It's an episodic anime for the first-half, something I enjoyed, and the episode nature worked well in exploring different sides to the theme of "dead letters". Unfortunately, the second-half spiraled somewhere generic and edgy. It's been such a long time, but I think what ruined the show was the terrible villain and his cliched motivation. Regardless, I still feel like it received way less attention than it deserves. It's also got beautiful animation and great character designs. Next up, we have Gunslinger Girl, the first season. This is an example of how anime can appeal to adults. It's about child soldiers brainwashed into killing people without remorse. Very depressing and bleak, but retains a bittersweet tone to it as you can see that the girls still have their happier moments with their "masters". It's a shame the second season got so boring. dealing with political sub-plots rather than focus on the girls. And then there's Hourou Musuko (Wandering Son), a criminally underrated masterpiece about children experimenting with cross-dressing, dealt in a very tasteful and lighthearted manner. It's full of 'feels' and can make you cry sometimes, but would probably make you smile and laugh more often. It's a very charming piece of work. Also has a manga that you should definitely check out if you like the anime, as the anime only adapt a portion of it (I haven't the time to check it out myself, however...). Ima, Soko ni Iru Boku (Now and Then, Here and There) also doesn't get as much attention as it deserves. Another bleak dystopian anime that deals with very mature subject matters (rape for starters). It's a very depressing version of "hero gets transported to another world/time", where the hero isn't able to do jack-s*** about the terrible state of the world, unlike most of the similar stories you'd see out there where the hero becomes the Chosen One and save the world. It's safe to say that the hero (just a little boy) gets kinda broken by the end of his journey, or at least, becomes more mellow and mature.

Great-looking signature! Very sleek. Wish I could make sigs like that.

Would you be willing to lie to a court for a close friend if it meant saving your friend from going to jail for life?

I've linked all my favorite anime songs in the previous page that I feel that I don't need to post anymore. lol But here are some songs that I didn't mention before... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DZhoUy6VU24 I love it when this ED theme played at the end of episode 9 of Steins;Gate. It was so menacing and ominous, reminding us the consequences when you f*** with time-travel. lol http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cott-MKdHWA My favorite HxH ED (shortly before I dropped the anime lol). I also didn't post a lot of Detective Conan OPs that I like because there were too many! I had to make a completely separate section dedicated to Detective Conan songs on my MyAnimeList profile because of that. Here are some of my favorites: Link to OP 13, Kimi to Yakusoku Shita Yasashii Ano Basho Made Unfortunately, a lot of Detective Conan OPs were taken down from YouTube and Dailymotion. The above link was the closest thing I could find. There's some s***ty advertisement that you have to wait before seeing the video (Adblock doesn't work), but it's definitely worth it. OP 14: And my favorite, OP 22! Showing my favorite part of the show, Conan's endless struggles against the sinister Black Organization! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LvOJDT_LxL4 I love how stylish this opening made the Black Org. look. They might be a generic shadow organization you would see in just about any anime, but it's how you present a generic villain that matters, and this opening really makes them look badass. Link to OP 35, TRY AGAIN Same deal as OP 13. Lags a lot, but nothing else can be done. lol TMS is really hunting down all the clips out there, it seems. I think that's all for today. Kinda tired of hunting down all these hard-to-find DC openings, let alone waiting for them to load. lol

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MfCWTRYWIsg As much as I prefer "Hacking to the Gate" as an opening, this song is still epic in its own way. The chorus especially is awesome, and it has that energetic vibe that makes me all charged up and excited, which is why I felt it was more appropriate to insert the song at the end of the story like the anime did, when Okabe finally succeeds and achieves his victory. When the song played at that time, it makes it more satisfying that way, not to mention making Okabe look like a f-ing badass. See what I mean: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0etMyKs3P34

I don't usually eat popcorn outside of watching movies. I don't like the nuts. They taste awful and get stuck in my teeth. Buttered popcorn can also taste way too sweet sometimes, which is why I prefer a mix of salted and buttered popcorn when ordering them at the cinemas.

It's a shame I never got to complete this series. The pacing of the second season was really messy, with that Punisher sub-plot and the Hand sub-plot mixing together. I wish they had just focused on the Punisher instead and leave The Hand for another season. I got bored and jumped ship during mid-season.

Seriously? No mention of "It's A Wonderful Life"? I thought it's an American tradition to watch it every Christmas! lol Anyway, yeah, that's my favorite Christmas movie of all time, next to Miracle on 34th Street. I think both were quite realistic in portraying the harshness of reality, even during Christmas, and had no illusion or naivety about it. I like that, that it's not just another fluffy happy-go-lucky piece. It's the same reason why I love La La Land because it mixed in such realism with an otherwise jolly story.

I grew up in the '90s, so most of my favorites came from the Renaissance Era: In no particular order: - Beauty and the Beast - Mulan - Tarzan - The Little Mermaid - Hunchback of Notre Dame And some not from the Era as well: - Lilo and Stitch - Tangled - Enchanted - Zootopia ( my favorite Disney movie to date) Funny thing about Hunchback of Notre Dame... I used to dislike that movie, or rather, indifferent towards it. I was quite young when I first watched it, so a lot of the mature themes went over my head. I even had an argument about whether if The Prince of Egypt was a better movie than Hunchback. But damn, after my rewatch of the film, I had to admit just how great that movie was. Claude Frollo was definitely the best Disney villain, ever. His whole character was so disturbing and uncomfortable even to my adult self, a twisted but tragic antagonist. One thing I have mixed feelings about though is that Quasimodo didn't "get the girl". This was an ambitious take that made Hunchback an unconventional Disney film in a good way, but it also felt like it's encouraging lookism in hypocrisy. I get that Esmeralda not falling in love with Quasimodo isn't necessarily lookism, but I also feel that the film is contradicting itself by making it look like Esmeralda didn't pick Quasimodo because he isn't as handsome as Phoebus. It's a problematic catch-22 writing that makes the film imperfect IMO; damned if she picks Quasi, damned if she don't. Today, my favorite Disney film has to be Zootopia. I didn't watch it on release date and only caught it around last year. It blew my mind away when I first watched it. Ever since Hunchback, I felt like this was Disney's real attempt at targeting mature themes. The whole "American dream" theme has been done to death in American cinema and otherwise, but to put it in a kids film was unconventional. The only other example I could think of was "An American Tail", which also tackled antisemitism. Zootopia didn't tread very deeply in its message regarding the American dream, but I felt like didn't need to. It was the right amount of optimism at the end, with Judy telling the audience that the world isn't perfect, but we can try to make it better. Not the most original message, but it was an effective conclusion that made the movie great nonetheless. It's a shame we won't get another Disney movie as amazing as Zootopia for perhaps another decade or two, but it will be worth the wait.

Jurassic Park was one of my favorite movies of all time. A lot of people dismissed it as a glorified B-movie, but I feel like they missed some of the more subtle themes in the story, and I'm not just talking about the obvious "man defying nature/god" theme. My favorite scene in the movie, for example, was when John Hammond was talking to Dr. Sattler about his vision, and how he had wanted to create something real that people could see and touch, not just an illusion, and I felt it was an excellent metaphor for what the movie had represented at the time. A lot of people forget, dinosaur movies before Jurassic Park looked very fake, much like the illusion John had described. It's not until the realistic animatronics of Jurassic Park came along that we could finally see dinosaurs coming alive, something we could believe that was real, not just puppets controlled by people in the background. John's vision of granting people that gift of seeing these illusions for real could also apply to filmmaking in general, where talented artists bring stories to life on the big screen. There's just something really sentimental and melancholic about that quote of John in the movie that fascinated me. It made John a tragic idealist whose grand vision fitted the theme of resurrecting dinosaurs quite appropriately. Bringing dinosaurs back to life was treated as an unethical act against mother nature in the movie, but at the same time, it showed just how magnificent those creatures are as well. John's vision itself was flawed, but much like the idea of bringing those wonderful creatures back to life, it was admirable. Just about any 10 year old kid could relate to John's ambitions. Which of them wouldn't want to see a real life dinosaur? Then again, maybe I am reading too much into what is a glorified B-movie. Anyway, Jurassic Park aside, I have a lot of other favorite movies as well that I didn't get to mention. Here's my top 20 list: 1. Toy Story 2 2. Toy Story 3 3. Casino Royale 4. The Fly (1986) 5. Aliens 6. The Dark Knight 7. Watchmen 8. Independence Day 9. Speed Racer 10. Jurassic Park 11. Predator 12. Mission: Impossible 13. The Prince of Egypt 14. A.I.: Artificial Intelligence 15. Terminator 2: Judgment Day 16. Back to the Future 17. The Prestige 18. The Machinist 19. Alien 3 (Assembly Cut) 20. The Cabin in the Woods

I love Shoot 'Em Up. A lot of people were bothered by how over-the-top it was, but that's exactly how I love my action movies. I love that it went out of its way to make the action scenes look as exaggerated as possible. It was like Looney Tunes in live action. Awesome. XXX (not porn...) was a lot of fun too. It was so edgy, but at the same time, I felt like it was a necessary amount of edgy at a time when the James Bond movies were becoming stale (this movie was released just a few months before that atrocity, Die Another Day, after all). I think it reminded people the darker elements of the criminal world that Bond movies had forgotten at the time (or rather, elements that had never been explored at all from the beginning, aside from License to Kill), and just how nasty and dangerous the business of killing people for a living was. Of course, Casino Royale, an action thriller I love much more than Triple-X, perfected that balance between escapist fantasy and gritty danger. It remains my favorite Bond movie to date, just before Skyfall.

Time to revive a dead thread for more YouTube funnies! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dbK4fIx7GLA "Epic fail" doesn't even sum this up. More epic rap battles of history: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Iy7xDGi5lp4 I think the following ERB was among my favorites due to how catchy the rhythm is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6HZ5V9rT96M A brutal deconstruction of the reality show, "The Bachelor": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3yoPAJ0bFr4 Last but not least, I want to share Movie Bob's defense of one of my favorite movies, Independence Day. It's really long, so I'm sure a lot of you won't have the time to watch through the entire thing, but it's definitely worth checking out if you love movies, and would like to find out just what's so good about Independence Day that's worth defending: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wcma0bKjJlY

This is a gaming community created a few years ago that was intended to be a hub for game developers and Twitch streamers to communicate with one another, as well as allow gamers in general to socialize as well. It's kinda like a MyAnimeList for gamers. I have an account created there for a long time now, and I was wondering if anyone else has one. My username there is "ReidersArk" if you have an account and want to be friends or something. If you don't have an account, here's an invite url to get you started if you're interested. Feel free to share your username here if you have an account.

The year before wasn't pleasant anyway, so I'll go for the first choice. Would you rather be forced to watch all Michael Bay movies in a row or would you rather be forced to play all Five Nights at Freddy's games in a row?

EA suuuuucks. In spite of what I said last time in this thread, I succumbed to buying the Game of the Year edition of Dragon Age: Inquisition (which came along with all the DLCs). I ended up not even bothering to complete that stupid game. What a waste of money.

I feel the same towards those spiky tentacles... Can't say I like the idea of tentacle-penetration. Was never a fan of tentacle fetish. Too weird.

It's the adorable Conan-kun! Of course I would hug him![/shotacon]

To be honest, sunglasses would've looked more badass... on anyone that isn't named Hasegawa.

What is your best childhood memory?

Would you ever consider a name-change to "zoom"? C'mon, "zoom" sounds a lot more fun. Zoom, zoom, zoom! Look mama! I'm zooming across the sky!

It's existentially disturbing. The glasses aren't even of the right prescription.

Which anime left you with a feeling of crushing disappointment?
Orius replied to Cy~'s topic in Anime Discussion
Yeah, maybe "crushed" is too extreme. What I meant was, a lot of people were upset about the second-half of the show after L kicked the bucket.
