people who write this series off for the violence & lewdness are missing something IMO.
figured Claire wasn’t the type to lose her cool over what happened between Shuichi & Chihiro though she’s clearly not happy about it. But fully expected Elena to rip her cute little head off. Strange that Chihiro remembers merging but Shuichi doesn’t. Seems he & Elena were a couple or well on their way to being one before what she did erased his memories of her. And now they can’t be together because she has a different agenda
As to Claire & Shuichi not being able to be one because they’re too different, seems to me that’s what makes their partnership work. The Chihiro/ Shuichi merger was more powerful, but out of control. Shuichi/Clair seem to balance each other out[/spoiler]

This episode had my stomach in knots for all kinds of reasons. Just all that anxiety & all the complex feelings that go along with being intimate with someone. This show is unearthing some very raw emotions in me & I don't know how I feel about that to be honest. I just hope that this show continues for several seasons because it does a masterful of drawing you even if you're so uncomfortable you want to scream.

I think “raw” really is the appropriate word. Emotions & relationships are messy things, especially for teens & young adults. Even for supposedly mature & well adjusted adults they can bring out the best & worst. I get the sense Clair isn’t as brazen as she acts. I think a lot of it is she knows Shuichi isn’t going to try anything & she likes messing with him.
But with Sayaka, even though I think she would go through with it if was the only way she wasn’t actually comfortable with it & fortunately she backed off. I think she is genuinely attached to Shuichi & doesn’t like anyone getting between them though I still think she’s keeping some secrets. At the very least I hope the two of them can give each other some level of healing.
Sorry if the way I started out the topic sounded pushy. It’s perfectly understandable that this stuff is uncomfortable. But I don’t consider it to be one of those exploitive series that constantly have to bombard you with sex & violence to distract you. I consider Vinland Saga & Fate Zero to be epic despite being pretty bleak in a lot if ways. But I can’t watch too much of it without balancing it with something lighter. Gleipnir & Akito from Fruits Basket pretty much fill my dark quota for the season. Fortunately I also have some fluff in Princess Connect: Redive & My Next Life as a Villainess.
Assuming you actually made it all the way to the end, apologies for the long winded ramble.
