Ah yes, birthdays. Life’s little way of saying
Life’ll kill ya, but doesn’t mean we can’t put up one hell of a fight

I just noticed that Weathering With You is at a nearby theater on 07/27. I’m debating whether to go since I haven’t seen it yet but the previews/clips look like seeing it on a big screen would add to it.

"Global Kids & Young Adults Unit" huh. Way to make me feel old, ***holes
Also speaks to the fact that for as long as it's been around and it's popularity, American companies still consider anime "kid's stuff"-
That's the demo they sell to. Easy to get kids to nag their parents to buy them something. Convincing the parents without getting the kids' help is a bit harder. Same dynamic as breakfast cereal. Or did you think they put cartoon characters on that brightly-colored box and toys inside for the adults?
Sorry to see Crunchy caught up in this acquisition. AT&T is slime. They've been screwing their DSL customers for years with "unlimited" and "up to" bandwidth claims, their customer service is anything but, and lately they've even been hawking their old LTE hardware as "G5". 80 Billion-with-a-B dollars to buy (and probably ruin) media companies like Time Warner, but no money to upgrade their network infrastructure?

Looks like I was wrong about the Fruits Basket delay since I’m currently watching episode 9 on CR. Thought I would let you know personally since you were so looking forward to it. Sorry for the confusion

@Ohiotaku It's all good but thanks for telling me!! I'll watch it tonight. I was so tired last night I forgot all about it.

Welcome to the forums
I actually found this place when the forum I used to frequent was declining as well. I felt at home here right away, hope that happens for you as well.
Edit: meant to put this in your intro thread, but seems I did something wrong and can’t move or delete it. Sorry.

If barbershops remain closed much longer I’ll be able to cosplay as Daru (as long as I leave my hat on )

Welcome Hope joining the community makes your anime journey more enjoyable.
I’m currently watching season 3 of Dr. Stone (New World) and am curious to see what revelations are made regarding the incident that petrified humanity for thousands of years.
edit: sorry, meant to post this to your introduction thread instead of your profile, but I goofed

I found this anime astrology/personality test pretty fun
My result: “You are Miaka Yūki! You’re a true Taurus: not only do you enjoy food related hedonism, you’re also an avid-anime fan (and what anime fan doesn’t spend ample amounts of time at home?). Finding your way back home is also a hugely important task for you, and it doesn't get more Taurus than that. You’re trustworthiness, stubbornness, and loyalty to your friends does not go unnoticed.“ (seems fairly accurate, though I’m actually a Cancer)

I got Kakashi Hatake (Virgo). The text said, "Though people might underestimate your power on first glance, they quickly realize you’re a highly intelligent, pragmatic individual who comes out on top in most situations. The Earth sign shines brightly in you, and you’re notable for being a somewhat introverted hardworker, thoroughly dedicated to your students."
Sounds good. I'll take it. And I actually am a * irl. Not familiar enough with the Naruto universe to know what to think about the character association though, and the fact that I don't have any students makes me a bit of skeptical of the result. Then again, being makes me skeptical of all metaphysics by nature.
*A Sept. b-day puts me in Virgo in the western school of astrology. I was born in '64 so In the Eastern I'm a (wood) Dragon.

Just got home from seeing the appropriately named Dark Phoenix. Actually gave Logan a run for it’s money despite being PG-13. I enjoyed it, but definitely won’t be taking the nephews.

So lately I keep seeing the terms otaku & weeb/weaboo used interchangeably. Maybe no longer the case but the distinction I learned was “otaku” when used to refer to a westerner is someone who’s a fan of japanese pop culture (anime/manga/video games etc). A “weeb/weaboo” was a westerner who’s convinced japanese culture/heritage is superior to their own and tries to imitate japanese mannerisms & philosophy, but usually wind up coming across as a false stereotype (wannabe/poser). So while I accept the label otaku, “weeb” makes me cringe. Of course from a purely japanese semantic, otaku can be used to refer to someone with an unhealthy obsession about anything, usually to the point where it has a negative effect on other aspects of their life.
Anyway, not trying to call anyone out, just something of a pet peeve of mine.

New trailer for the upcoming Demon Slayer movie.
Supposed to screen in North American theaters in 2021

Thanks for the follow
In regards to your faves, I’m also enjoying Mushoku Tensei, despite certain elements being cringey. And since you like Madoka, I recommend Wonder Egg Priority

Started watching the Tanya the Evil movie this morning. Will continue on my lunch break, but probably won’t finish until this evening.

Just saw an article about the wrestler Sting needing stitches after diving off a ladder onto a guy laying on a table. Can’t believe the guy is still doing this sh*t at age 64. Of course I still remember when he looked like Billy Idol instead of Brandon Lee.

Watched the 1st episode of Dropkick on My Devil. Best description I can think of is a mash-up of Bludegeoning Angel Dokuro-chan and Ms. Kobayashi's Dragon Maid. Lots of 4th wall jokes and cartoon violence. Will probably continue to watch when I'm bored or until my free trial of Prime runs out.

If anyone is looking for something to watch appropriate for the upcoming St. Patrick’s Day I recommend The Ancient Magus Bride as it has a number of creatures from Celtic mythology (banshee, leanan sidhe, etc.) While it’s not anime, the animated film The Secret of Kells also works.

Corona may have eclipsed Guinness this year, but Happy St. Patty’s anyway
