  1. I don't think it should matter whether or not they're considered adults, as even though going to high school is optional in japan (look it up), a lot of people still do it. It seems a lot of anime and manga nowadays tend to have fan service in it, and you better believe it has a negative effect on society. Women are so overly sexualized in media and such these days, but they shouldn't be defined by their looks. And people being denied jobs and higher pay because they're female? ...Can this whole world just burn down...? But in all actuality, I would like to see more unattractive characters in anime, particularly female characters because every girl is cute in anime, but that needs to stop.
  2. Welcome. I like every type of anime, so no matter what kind you're into, I'm sure we'll get along well! Please enjoy your stay. = )
  3. I used to prefer dubs because I tried to watch a sub once, but I couldn't follow it very well. Though I most likely was suffering from fatigue as I don't find this to be very problematic anymore. One of the first animes I watched with subs was Cardcaptor Sakura, which I found to have better writing then the dub did, as with the voices. Furthermore, the names of Sakura and a few other characters remained unchanged in the english dub, but the majority obtained american names. A questionable choice. I would definitely recommend the sub over the dub. I've learnt that the movement of the lips are left untouched when an anime is dubbed, resulting in the same number of syllables having to be used, So when I watch a dub now, I can't help but think of how they worded something so as to fit the number of syllables allowed, like whenever a conjunct is added to a line. To sum it up, I would say that subs are my preferred way to watch anime, however, every once in while I will encounter a series like Code Geass in which a lot of important things are said in rapid succession, in which case I would have to say that watching the series in english would be better.
  4. Anime: Pita-Ten Character: Shia
  5. Tsushima Yoshiko, aka Yohane, from Love Live! Sunshine!!.
  6. "Shut up, Steph. You're just a Steph." - Sora, No Game, No Life.
  7. Some more are... and from Ichigo Mashimaro. from Azumanga Daioh. and Kitto Seishun ga Kikoeru from Love Live! School Idol Project.
  8. Euphemia li Britannia [spoiler=SPOILERS FOR CODE GEASS]For the longest time I couldn't figure out who my favorite Code Geass character was. But I've decide on Euphy, because it really ticked me off how they killed her, with Lelouch just joking around and accidently using his mind control on her and causing her to try to kill all japanese people. She was a very kind and caring person that did not deserve to die, and it's not like the Special Administrative Zone of Japan was a bad idea...
  9. Have you seen the show recently? You might know what I mean if you watch it again.
  10. Welcome, it's nice to meet you. Based on some of the anime you've said, I think you may enjoy Brother's Conflict. And since you like Death Note, then I recommend also trying Code Geass because it has a similar tone, though it is a mech anime. Oh, and I hope you enjoy your stay.
  11. Mikuru Asahina. [spoiler=SPOILERS FOR THE MELANCHOLY OF HARUHI SUZUMIYA]Being timid, it's initially questionable why she would choose to stay in the SOS Brigade, with all of the weird things Haruki does to her, she should run. But it is her mission as a member of the Time Travelers' Committee to closely observe Haruhi, so she must endure to protect the timeline. Miku, you brave soul! :'(
  12. Genos from One-Punch Man. How could he lose? He's got a bionic arm.
  13. True. But it doesn't hurt to confirm. It's nice to see more fans join this place, as it is a amazing series and one of my favorites. I like your signature by the way, it's very friendly.
  14. Yeah, I personally find it to be better than the japanese openings.
  15. Nice to meetcha. Don't worry too much about wording, as long as people get what you're saying. As long as you're respectful, it's all good. I hope I'm not wrong in assuming, but are you by any chance, a fan of Puella Magi Madoka★Magica?
  16. Welcome to the forums, Ashukatski. This is a small but friendly community, so I'm sure you'll get along with everyone just fine.
  17. RAVE-O-LUTION!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7krz5g1eAo0
  18. Have you ever watched a top anime OP or ED list and found that a song you love wasn't there? Sometimes it's because of a anime not being popular, sometimes the person just hasn't heard of it. But the matter of the fact is that a lot of songs get ignored, so what are some songs that you feel deserve more attention? I would say from Etotama, from Kokoro Connect, and from Triangle Hearts: Sweet Songs Forever.
  19. I grew up watching Teen Titans when it was on cartoon network back in the day, it had an anime-inspired art style. Though looking back, it wasn't very well animated, however it used that to it's advantage for the jokes. Nowadays they have Teen Titans GO!, which I would compare to Keroro Gunso in that it's funny for the first few episodes, but it starts to feel like your intelligence is being insulted after a while. They were going to have a live-action Teen Titans television series, but that never came to be and instead they opted to make Justice League vs. Teen Titans, which wasn't very good imo. If they were to make a Teen Titans movie as part of the DC movie universe, then I'd be willing to go see that. Oh, and they should make a new anime series for it.
  20. Beauty Equals Good This is one that spans across all mediums. A person's looks, however, has nothing to do with the type of person they are. I think that there should be more unattractive protagonists and main characters. Furthermore, they should have the personalities that people have grown to love. And that, of course, includes both genders.
  21. I understand, I may have gotten a bit ahead of myself. But thank you very much for hearing me out.
  22. This series was all over the internet back in the day, if you used the internet, then you most likely knew about this series. This topic is for discussing the first book in the Haruhi Suzumiya series. I've never seen the anime, but was interested in the light novels. First off, Haruhi is unforgivable. She acts like a complete jerk at all times. Furthermore, she is guilty of sexual harassment, blackmail, extortion and trespassing. She can stay in melancholy for all I care. Miku is shy, so I can relate. But I have to question why the Time Travelers' Committee put her on this mission. Kyon isn't much better than Haruhi, he goes along with whatever she says. Still, he is somehow the most likely to protect Miku. Nagato reminds me of Yuzuru from Date A Live. Well, all that aside, I think this a good series so far and am interested in reading more.
  23. Anyone ever of a game called Jet Set Radio? That game had a fantastic soundtrack, Hedeki Naganuma is a genius! Let Mom Sleep: Rock It On: Sweet Soul Brother: And of course, there was Jet Set Radio Future. Funky Dealer: Like This, Like That: Sneakman (Toronto Mix):
  24. I think the closet thing for me would be The Rolling Girls. [spoiler=SPOILERS FOR THE ROLLING GIRLS]From the preview in Otaku USA, I thought this sounded a bit like Samurai Champloo...but that was not the case. The anime is very vague about how japan was separated into the different areas. There are these people with super powers fight over territory called Best, there's also other people that work with them called Rest, but they don't have super powers and get blown away in about 5 seconds. But forget all that, because the series then changes to Nozomi, who takes a request to find moonstones...and so the first part was not good, but I heard that it wasn't supposed to be until the second arc. But the third episode, which is part of the second arc, was not good either. I don't know what they were going with this show, it doesn't take itself very seriously. Needless to say, it failed to convince me of it's concept. The music was good though.
