What did you do today?

I had 1 class which I went to, studied most of the day.
There was another fire across the street today in an apartment high rise building that looked bad. It was happening just as I was arriving home. I read that 1 person was injured badly and several others were taken to the hospital. I was watching fire crews putting ladders up to the windows and rescuing people, it was really worrying to watch and I was just hoping they were okay.

Ya I don't like it lol ~

I left class earlier today because of a few things that happened. Apparently looking at your phone, immediately starting to have tears run down your face, and running out of class is not something you should do because your friends will think someone has died lol I had no idea my friends had left class looking for me or I wouldn't have worried them like that. I love the fact I have made some friends here though that care enough about me to do that so it kind of made me feel much better, especially after I told them some things that were going on.

My Dad and sister will be here tomorrow evening and staying for the weekend so I'm also happy about that. I have had a lot of emotions lately and I think seeing my family and just spending time with my sister who is my best friend will be really helpful and help me clear my head about a lot of things.

I hope spending time with family relieves some of your stress:(

Today I went to school as usual. In environmental science we used microscopes to look closer at the organisms in our terrariums. The only organisms in my jar were decomposing mushrooms that smelled horrendous. The table group beside mine had a dead ant and a weird centipede thingy. It was cool to go over and look at it, but I was more excited to talk to a new friend who sits there. He has a Power from chainsawman, Tomo from azumanga daioh, and Hatsune Miku pin on his backpack! That's what we talked about during our first conversation anyways. He's very nice so I hope to get closer to him.

Thanks :) I think it will, being around them usually helps me and it's been lonely being in a completely different state from them now.
I hope you get a chance to talk to this new friends lots! ~

Today I have history quizzes for sophomore, so far no one failed on my quizz.

Perhaps you make the questions too easy 😀, but on the other hand it will probably boost your student's confidence if they get a pass mark.

This morning I embarked on a quest to my local High Street to buy some more of my favourite steak pies as I only had one left, and am pleased to report a successful mission and I was able to get enough to last me three weeks 😀.

Today I am pretending it is Saturday since I have to work on Sunday.  (Unless Europa Clipper slips again, in which case I guess I'll have to put today down as a vacation day on my timecard.)  Got my coffee and some toast, some laundry going, and I think I'm going to log in to do a bit of minecrafting later.  I want to play around a bit more with the crafter.

I went grocery shopping to pick up some food for over the weekend when we have guests, worked most of the rest of the day, and in the evening just now returned from a walk on the river.

I only had one class, the rest was spent studying. Exams will be here in just a couple weeks. I talked to someone again today that I had been wanting to talk to, and I feel better now that I have. My dad/sister also arrived this afternoon and tomorrow we are doing out to do some things around town ~! Tonight me & my sister are getting ready to watch some scary movies in a bit and have pizza.

Today I am getting hyped for SpaceX's Starship/booster IFT-5 tomorrow.  Turns out I don't have to work tomorrow* after all so I can relax and watch IFT-5 instead.  One way or another it's guaranteed to be exciting.  :)

*Currently Monday for Europa Clipper.

My dad & sister are in town so we did several things today. Went out shopping, out to eat lunch, stopped by a place called "The Witches Tree", went on a walking historical/ghost tour that showed a lot of the old houses + told the tales about the hauntings that are supposed to be at them.

This one place I really wanted to visit is called The Witches Tree. The story behind it is in 1890 there was a group of women known to be witches that would go to an old Maple tree and hold seances and chant and other activities at this tree. The city decided to chop the tree down and the witches told them if you chop down our tree in 11 months we will bring devastation to the city of Louisville. 11 months later Old Louisville had the most devastating tornado that the area had ever seen or has even seen since. It destroyed basically all of the city.

According to legend, during this tornado, a lightning bolt struck the stump of the old tree that had been cut down and a new tree started growing from it, which is the tree that stands there today. People visit now, leave offerings (there are things such as beads or crystals all over the tree), and ask it for good luck. It's supposed to be a very spiritual/connected to nature type of place and it definitely feels a bit strange around it. I left some coins inside the tree as many people do. Taking things from the tree people have left has allegedly brought curses to people who take them.

Anyway, it was a very neat place to visit and one of the many places with a story around Old Louisville. There are some pictures of it I took today in the spoiler. It definitely looks like one of the creepiest trees I've ever seen.

A day out with the family is always good, especially if they live a long way away. I'm glad you had a good day with them.

You're right, that's one weird and creepy tree.

I've just watched that on YouTube. After an impressive launch to then watch the booster return to its launch pad and be captured by the chopsticks was absolutely amazing!  Shame it was nighttime where Starship landed because it was a bit hard to see what was going on, but the commentary said it had landed on target.  In the comments on the video someone said that Starship exploded just after landing.

This was a creepy place to visit but I felt as if they should have something outside of it telling the history. Usually in our city they have a historic sign which tells of the history of something like this in front of it and most people just pass by this tree not knowing about it.

I think they should too, I don't understand why they don't considering lots of places have done stories and documentaries on it.

Today my dad and sister left to go back to Chicago so I had to say goodbye to them :c It was great having them here for the weekend though and I plan to go up to Chicago for Thanksgiving break and spend most of it at my dad's house so it won't be that long until I get to see them again ~ 💜 After they left I've mostly just been playing some games on the computer and also did some laundry, nothing special.

That "chopstick" landing/capture was on a whole other level than anything that's been done before, including landing F9 boosters on the droneships, which itself was over the top.

Also, I have to say that I'm almost as amazed that we got multiple 4k, realtime video feeds from both 'Ship and Super Heavy continuously from liftoff to separation, into space, back down through the plasma heating, and even to the moment of splashdown.  SpaceX really made SpaceX look good.  I remember the light grey on dark grey, low-res, heavily ghosted video from Apollo days.  We've come a long way since then, and not just in rocketry.

Yes, the 'Ship exploded after splashdown. The mission for 'Ship was surviving reentry, performing the "belly flop" maneuver, and, well, targeting the landing.  Anything happening after the moment of touchdown was irrelevant.  The vehicle was designed to be caught by the "mechazilla" arms just like the booster, not land on the water.  Unfortunately they only have the one tower at the moment, and this time the focus was on the booster's first catch.  There was no intention- or even ability - to recover the 'Ship on this flight.  However, given the successful booster catch, the precision of the 'Ship's landing, and the fact that SpaceX already has most of a second tower built at Boca Chica I would not be surprised if SpaceX tries for a double-catch of both 'Ship and booster back at Boca Chica very soon.  Maybe even on IFT-6.  (Pending FAA approval of course.  :D ))

There's so much that still needs to be done however.  Their contract with NASA requires a version of Starship able to land on the Moon.  To do that the booster needs to first get the moon lander to orbit.  I don't see that being a problem.  But then they need to refuel the lunar lander in orbit.  That would require multiple launches, tower captures, refueling, and re-launches of a TBD "tanker" version of 'Ship.  And booster.  And of course as amazing as everything SpaceX has done to date seems, from the SpaceX point of view all this is just practice for launching Ships to and landing them on Mars!  I'm sure SpaceX still has a whole series of amazing things to show us in the next few years.

Yes I remember watching those grey & grey Apollo pictures and to see such hi quality real-time images during launch, reentry and splashdown was just amazing. If SpaceX pull off the double capture of booster and ship and I'm sure they will, it'll be something amazing to watch- even if only on YouTube.

Went to work, not much else. New project I'll be assigned to starting tomorrow is going to take the rest of the month and into November to complete but it's good to be starting something that will occupy me for awhile.

Well after my freshman and senior quizz they'll all seem to past I'm type of teacher let quizz be easy on first two and then little harder I don't want them to be surprised, and I'm proud of my students.😉

Well speaking of Quiz I'm very busy since we are now middle of October and upcoming Halloween event in my school and also one week holiday since all souls day and all saints day.

You're clearly a great teacher who cares about your students.

I wish I'd had a teacher like you, most of my teachers weren't all that interested in their students, or the subject they were supposed to be teaching in a couple of cases!

Tested some new features on the project I'm working on for the company I work at :) Every thing went well which meant I did my job right. This aside, I also did some boring things such as a run to the post office and bank and couple of other places that needed some small things done at.
