jammmessbolt
Hey everyone, I am looking to expand my anime watchlist and would love to hear your recommendations. Specifically I am interested in those hidden gems that might not be super popular or well known. You know the kind of anime that you think deserves way more attention than it gets. It could be from any genre action romance slice of life psychological you name it. I am open to all suggestions. Please share why you think your recommendation is underrated and what makes it special. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts and discovering some new favorites. Thanks in advance. Animedragon
OK, here's a short list of recommendations for you. A Place Further Than the Universe: Despite the title this is not a sci-fi series. It's a slice of life series about four girls who take part in a life changing adventure. It's an excellent series and well worth watching. Yuru Camp: A slice of life about a group of girls who enjoy going on camping trips, cooking food and admiring the countryside. A wonderfully laid back series that's highly recommended. Hyouka: A great series about a about a guy who would rather do nothing and expend as little effort as possible who meets a girl in his school who has an insatiable curiosity and wants to know the answers to various mysterious events that happen around the school. This is another great series that's worth watching. Charlotte: In a world where some teenagers develop para-normal abilities there is a small group who seek them out to protect them from criminal gangs who want to exploit their abilities and scientists who want to experiment on them to learn about their abilities in order to use them. This is a sci-fi series set in a rather chilling world, it's a great story but some of the episodes contain quite violent scenes.

K-chan
Gosick Probably not very underrated, I believe it's fairly popular. It's just that 13 years have passed and it's likely on the list of "old" anime for a lot of people now.
KaiyaSaysHaiya
monster! i definitely wouldn't say it's unknown or anything, but the anime deserves way more recognition than it gets

zuunxiphobia
i think perfect blue is a really good psychological horror anime, it shows a realistic representation of delusion and reality ,as well as stalkers and pressure of being famous. but its rlly confusing
Ohayotaku
Figure 17 - half action scifi, half growing-up slice of life. Just be warned the emotions hit hard particularly in later episodes. Scrapped Princess - one of the best twist revelations about what’s actually going on. Raven of the Inner Palace - every bit as good as The Apothecary Diaries (the supernatural elements actually make it better IMO). Currently picking up the light novels because a 2nd season is questionable at this point. Rune Soldier - funnier than Slayers (fight me)

Yes, Hyouka needs more attention. Hey! someone else has seen Seraphim Call which is definitely underrated, in a similar style there's Sentimental Journey which is also underrated.

Hyouka was the anime that sparked my interest in the world of anime. Prior to that, I had only seen Naruto and DBZ, and I wasn't even familiar with the term "anime." I developed a bigger interest after watching Hyouka. Seraphin Call was a show that I watched completely by accident one night when I clicked on it and was too lazy to turn the channel to something else. I found myself really intrigued by what I was watching I also appreciate the unique way the story is presented; I haven't come across any other anime that tell the story quite like this one.
Wickett
I had to go back and find the name but several years ago I watched Dimension W and actually enjoyed it a lot. I was able to find it through the opening song which is in my Apple Music library.
