Watching anime with sub is the way to experience the media form to the fullest (if you don't speak Japanese), because the Japanese voice acting (which is an art in itself) will be lost with English dub. I started watching season anime from quite young age (not sure if that's a good thing), so I can't even remember if I struggled with sub or not. But good luck on your journey!
