It is too early to know the details yet but unfortunately I'm almost sure it will.  Certainly if the cuts are as large as 25-50%.  Thanks to SpaceX making access to space so cheap there has been a huge increase in the DSN's workload over the last 5-10 years.  Personally I would not mind a bit of a slowdown in that regard.  But at that level of cuts it will be more of a shutdown than a slowdown.  We've already had 3 rounds of layoffs amounting to about 10% of the workforce in the last year and a half at JPL where the DSN is managed.  We're already stretched pretty thin in the manpower department.  Most of the robotic deep-space planetary science missions are planned and managed here as well.  Any additional cuts will mean existing missions will have to be shut down and plans for future missions will be put back on the shelf.  Hardware upgrades such as plans for new ground antennas or network bandwidth increases for the DSN will probably not happen now.  One or two flagship projects like James Webb will likely be kept running, but they will have to be funded by cancelling older, ongoing projects that have finished their primary mission.  This would likely include most if not all of the half dozen spacecraft and landed assets at Mars, the two Voyager probes, and older space telescopes such as Hubble and Chandra, among others.

Wow I really didn't know they were cutting programs like that, that's awful 😧

Idk I have a lot of anxiety right now. On one hand I'm glad to be at home to see my dad and sister but on the other I'm really not looking forward to tomorrow. I've talked to a couple friends on the phone tonight to try to calm down but I felt like as soon as I hung up the anxiety came back lol Now I'm just sitting here and can't stop shaking which makes me feel stupid or something

You're not stupid or anything, you're just experiencing a very sad occasion in your life and so it's to be expected that you feel anxious about it. Talking to your friends on the phone was a good thing to do.

It's alright to feel this way but you aren't stupid for it. Feeling upset and anxious in this time is normal and you are allowed to feel whatever which way you do at this time.

I feel kinda lonely. I wish for a friend. if you want to know me, I'm mohsen, I'm stright man. I'm 31 and my favorite anime is non non biyori because I love slice of life genre anime like lucky star(which I've watched non-stop I've lost count how many time I've watched it)

I'm studying hard to become a legendary programmer. right now I'm learning reverse-engineering and assembly to become the most famous trainer developer and surpass Fling and MrAntiFun.(a trainer is an app that let's you cheat like have infinite ammo, or money)

is anyone interested in becoming my friend?

Yesterday was a hard day for myself and my family but today almost feels like it's going to be a little easier now that the hard stuff is behind.

I hope that you are both feeling better today and able to find some peace of mind. Funerals are never easy.

I’m alright, a little frustrated at work lately but that’s mostly because I’ve been trying to get an order of 15,000 trail maps out the door for several weeks now. I can’t dedicate my full attention to it because we still have other orders to take care of as well.
I’m really glad that the municipality that ordered these is incredibly patient and doesn’t start handing these ones out until late spring/early summer anyway, but I’d still like to finally be done with it so that I can get properly caught up on everything else.

Honestly, it’s a minor frustration, really. Otherwise, I’ve been really good!

Those big orders are really nice, but they can cause backlogs to build up. So it's good that you have an understanding customer.

It's been a slog today. I'm not the type to idle around; I begin to get antsy, otherwise. Been playing GW2 on and off, and went to get my boyfriend's car cleaned. Nothing else, other than that.

I'm still trying to sort my emotions out from the past week. There's really a lot of them after the funeral in particular which is normal I guess. I just always feel weird crying as if I'm not supposed to be doing it regardless of the circumstances. Especially in this situation when I feel like I should be able to keep it together for my dad. It's nice being home though where I can be in my own bed and room and sort through these feelings and get them out ~ Also just processing the feelings of actually how much I'm going to miss my Uncle is really hard.

Crying is absolutely fine and something you should be doing, and don't let anyone tell you different! It's an important part of the grieving process and much better for you than bottling all your emotions up.  It's always hard to get used to a world where a much loved family member isn't there any more, but you will get used to it but it takes time.

Yeah that's true. I honestly feel a bit better now that I've let myself cry a bit

~

Tonight still feels a bit rough though, I can't get to sleep and I'm just laying on the couch watching sad tv and listening to the storm outside. I'm about to go get a giant plate of snacks and sit back down in front of the tv and snack until I fall asleep which will maybe make me feel better

I think it helps to be busy. I feel much better today than I have at any other point the past week. It's snowing here and I'm going to go take a walk in it. I think that'll lift my mood too.

Kinda mad because people are crap and mostly all liars but it's okay because in the end they'll be missing me when I'm not in their life anymore ~ or they won't, either way, I don't really care anymore 💜
