No worries on the font. Any spoilers in there people have to be reading hard to get too And best I can describe it, he sounded very close to Popcorn Sutton, moonshiner legend. Popcorn video . Considering the respect I have for the shiners and Popcorn, I was understandably a bit offput at first. It's an Appalachian accent. Still, it's a good comparison I would suppose to a thick Japanese rural accent.

@Seshi I think you copied and pasted from a word file you were writing in...makes reading it really hard. I'll put mine in spoiler tags per episode me'thinks and respond. Episode One Episode Two Episode Three

Loved it and I think they waited for the right time to do it. There is no way they could have done the special effects and created the environment that they did if they tried this ten years ago. It's a DC franchise too so I felt the jokes were more on the DC level (you can't really compare DC and Marvel any more than you can compare Star Trek and Star Wars) and pretty good. They set up the characters in line with their actual comic book background and I wonder if the next Aquaman movie will see him lose his hand. Looking forward to the next.

The extreme Japanese nationalism that I see in anime can be quite a turn off as well (Summer Wars really irritated me on that actually). However, you have to consider where the comics or anime or writings are coming from. If it is coming in from Japan then I suppose that it would be normal for them to consider themselves the best of the entire world. If it's coming from America, then I imagine they consider themselves to be the best as well. When I watch Doctor Who, it seems to center around British cultural superiority and that makes sense there too. I can verify however that not all of them are entirely based in America for our comics. Most of the popular ones are for sure.

I watched the first three episodes. All I had time for this weekend. As for the first episode, I really enjoyed it. The soundtrack is nice and it brought me back to Non Non Biyori (another SoL) with it's rural setting. I watched a bit in the English dub, then switched to Japanese but I actually liked the dub better. So far so good.

Well, the application of cold will reduce swelling and that will reduce pain (or flat out numb your nerves). I managed to get myself so cold between the freezing temps and keeping the ac on in my car on top of that to be a block of ice, even after I went to work later. The room I work in, usually cold to me, felt like someone had a furnace in there that day. Numbing by freezing has worked for me many times in the past too. And, healthcare in the US is complicated. If you have insurance, you still have deductibles to meet, copays for the visit, and may have to pay a portion of the cost of any treatments or procedures as well. The only ones coming out ahead in any of this is the insurance companies, but that is what happens when politicians are in the pockets of big companies like that with excessive lobbying power. The insurance companies getting their way screwed up medicare too and is the entire reason why it has a donut hole. Anyone who thinks an insurance company isn't crooked is a fool. Happy to take your monthly premiums when you don't need it and always looking to avoid paying out when you do need it.

It happened too fast for a picture and at the time I was sitting in my car thinking about whether I should spend a hundred bucks at the urgent care to get a ketorolac and zofran injection or if I should just try to freeze myself out of my pain and nausea. I'll admit, it was a jaw dropping moment. Ended up choosing to just freeze myself so I could stare at the sky a big longer....lol....priorities, right? Most videos you see of them are from police dashboard cams, home security systems, and people who were recording other things at just the right time. Fireballs are bright enough and low enough you can see them in bright cities too. For instance, this one just happened last night and it is so bright it lights everything up. You'd have seen this in an inner city if you had an unobstructed view. The surrounding lights might drown it out a bit but most fireballs won't be washed out by them. Some you can see during the day even. From under a porch

Well, tonight I reported my first fireball. Actually it's my second fireball....my first I didn't think about reporting and it literally lit up the sky right in front of my husband and me a few years back. First one I reported anyways to the American Meteor Society. I saw it this morning and looking at the most recent compiled reports (which mine will be added to), I'm convinced that over 150 other people saw it too. I know fireballs are supposed to be once in a lifetime events for people so I feel real lucky I saw this one. Makes me happy I went outside to freeze my pain away this morning. Otherwise I would have missed it completely. Anyone else ever spot a fireball in the sky?

Somewhat, but I had anime and video games I focused on. Always was a Flash fan (Wally West was my favorite speedster and I am livid they changed him for their new 52. I'd rather they innovate and make new heroes instead of ripping apart the classics.). I even have a Flash vs Gorilla Grodd statue at home. Might post a picture sometime actually. Enjoyed Spiderman when I was younger but he has been remade too many times now and never really got the whole Xmen fandom thing. I love the Marvel universe in the movies but haven't had time to explore the literary side. Did always like the Pim stuff. As for other DC stuff, always been a catwoman fan (got lots of statues) and my husband is a Batman fan (has lots of statues of Batman and his two favorite villains, Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy), I liked Solomon Grundy's story in the Batman universe, was definitely into the Justice League for a bit...that's about it really.

I got this for Christmas and haven't had the time to watch it. I could do 5 episodes this weekend though too. Looking forward to chatting about it with everyone!

I believe you might be thinking of Outlaw Star. Gene's caster gun would use his life in some circumstances. It's a bit embarrassing for a Space Opera fan like myself but I can't remember much more than that off the top of my head. It's been awhile since I last saw that one.

Thank you for saying that I use y'all a lot myself! I personally can't stand "Roasted". One of my coworkers uses it constantly and it is getting to be really annoying. "Baby-daddy" is another one I find annoying. Please find some other way to refer to your ex...like I don't know....your EX. I had another coworker in the past who talked about her "Baby-daddy" almost nonstop. Wanted to pull my hair out. I don't need nor do I want an explanation that you had a child with the guy everytime you want to refer to him, no matter how short the explanation is.

Welcome to the forums, @AvidCrayfish. We're a good group so I hope you enjoy it here. Any favorite anime?

This. The smell of cigarette smoke is actually a migraine trigger for me. I'd love it if the people who choose to smoke around me vaped instead. As far as health reasons are concerned, what someone else does to their body is none of my business. Them smoking isn't killing me off any faster so I don't care in that way.

Pokemon Sword and Shield (also Pokemon in general)
Beocat replied to Illusion of Terra's topic in Gaming
My bet is actually on one of these three being next.... I can see the Pokémon Sweet/Sour game being a mobile phone game actually lol.... -
An example panel may be titled, "Horror Anime Throughout the 90s" and literally only discuss Horror Anime during that time period and may end up being a list of titles, trailers, and opinion commentary with questions at the end. Alternatively, it could be something like "The Rise of Isekai" and the panel originators might spend 20-30 minutes going over the history of Isekai (along with a definition of isekai), eary examples of Isekai and more recent Isekai and Isekai trends and then the last 30-90 minutes may end up being an outright discussion of the nuances of the genre, polling for favorite examples, an exploration of subgenres (trapped in a video game for instance) or even panel attendees and the panel originators debating over whether a particular anime qualifies for the genre (for instance, No Game No Life is Isekai but not Trapped in a Video Game (although it is sometimes mistaken for TiaVG)). Panels can be a great source of information (for instance, a Reverse Harem panel that lists reverse harem titles and describes them may be great if you are getting into the genre and wanting to watch and collect...you'd want to take notes of titles to look up later if you were into it). Then there are Industry Panels (Funimation, Sentai, and more may hold a Panel to discuss their new anime coming out that year and sometimes major announcements are made at these panels and even the option to purchase blurays before their release dates) and Voice Actor Panels (usually a Voice Actor will take questions from the audience attending about working VA in anime, how they started, their favorite anime, who've they've met through anime, etc). Sometimes you have a let down panel from an ill-prepared presenter and you realize 5 minutes in that it's only going to be five minutes with no discussion and you could have used your time to attend or do something better.... Panels are usually a great way to spend the day, especially if you are at a Con and have nothing planned for a few hours and aren't planning on purchasing stuff for awhile. You can sit in on a panel and learn something new. The best thing is that everyone at the panels are just as excited about anime as you are. Some panels are not suitable for children and may require confirmation that you are above a certain age limit to attend. There are usually also Artist Galleries where artists can sell their own fan-made wears for money (usually prints of artwork they've created, plushies they've made, and other cool things, usually these people have an Etsy shop or something similar) and then a separate Vendor Market (for Industry and Commercial sellers who sell merchandise like blurays/dvds, shirts, action figures, toys, keychains, etc). Some, probably most, also do showings of anime. They might have blocks set aside in an attached theater to show really old anime movies, or the first four episodes of a popular new anime, or even preview episodes of an anime that is expected to come out soon but hasn't been released in the US yet. Occasionally, they'll show English dubs but most of these tend to be subtitled. Then you have autograph signings from Anime celebrity voice actors, animators, and more too. There tends to also be Cosplay Contests, Dances, Music, Martial Arts demonstrations, classes on Japanese culture/language/how to make plushies/kanji/etc. Believe me, if you've never been to a con before, you will probably be stunned and dazed from the experience. When I took my best friend to her first con, she just kind of followed me around in a daze the entire weekend and was so happy I was there to plan everything out and guide her to the panels and activities. There's always multiple things going on, throngs of people and cosplay to wade through, and if you don't really try to plan your schedule, you'll look back on it later with many regrets at all you missed. --- As for me, I like the panels and the Artist Galleries. I love a good anime discussion and I've learned a lot going to panels, even stuff I didn't know anything about before. The quality of the panels can make or break a con experience for me.

Familiar of Zero is long...but may have a happy ending you are searching for. Unfortunately, most anime developers are obsessed with harems so truly attaining an actual happy ending that isn't indeterminate in a romance is fairly difficult. @awesomedude20 or @the_twig may have been working on a list of anime with successful romances. Any suggestions, guys?

Well, sort of in line with your inquiry, general parental/child relationships... Moribito ~ a mother/son type of relationship is prominently featured, with a father/son relationship occurring towards the end. Excellent story overall. A masterpiece in my book. Solty Rei ~ this one focuses heavily on father/daughter relationships. I also would strongly recommend it. Those two immediately come to mind for me but I'll continue thinking on it.

I've been pretty mucb unable to watch anything for the past year and already I feel so behind.... I feel your pain.

In the South, we like our tea ice cold and sweet. I don't actually drink tea...or coffee... but everyone else does and I am reminded of this singular defect in my Southern heritage almost daily my mom must've forgot to mix some tea in my bottle when I was a baby.

@Seshi I frequent Animazement too (last year and this year will likely be the only 2 years I'll have missed). I wonder if I've ever talked to you at a panel before. And yes, Dragon Con is on my list to go to as well. It isn't that far away and it has so much to offer, especially if your significant other isn't an anime fan not every panel we go to at Animazement is about anime thankfully. Plenty of Walking Dead, GoTs, and other mainstream scifi/comics stuff for the rest of the family to enjoy at Animazement sprinkled in.
