  1. Non Non Biyori ~ great slice of life anime that gives you a genuine window into rural Japanese life for kids. Hanayamata ~ another slice of life that focuses on a Japanese dance called Yosakoi. Very interesting.
  2. Going to watch ut this weekend with my husband hopefully. making up for a lost Valentine's Day.
  3. I'd say Kurama from Yu Yu Hakusho, but Hei works just as well there too personality-wise. Both have better personalities than Eren… I'd even say Duo Maxwell from Gundam Wing.
  4. As a person who suffers from Raynauds (basically, the capillaries in my extremeties like to stop working when triggered by cold, certain textures, eating/drinking certain foods), I can say I gladly use mittens over gloves every day in the winter. It doesn't hurt my dexterity at all. Only issue I have is finding an affordable pair that also has "phone skin" over the index finger so I can still reasonably use my phone. Gloves give you no warmth whatsoever. I used gloves for a long time because I couldn't find any mittens for adults (in recent years they made a comeback YAY!) and it was pointless. I suffered corpse fingers anyways with them. Mittens though, I never get the corpse fingers (a Raynaud's flare essentially) and that makes me happy I was not built for cold. That is why mittens exist. They exist for people who like being warm. I'm also fairly certain that in the olden days, gloves would have required a lot of planning and mittens were easier to sew/knit.
  5. LOL! You are probably the only other person I've met (albeit met online) that watches the Spanish soaps! Back in the day when I watched them regularly, I could speak the language... So much more interesting and dramatic than the American ones. I always tell people to beware of those little Hispanic grandmas. They look all nice and vulnerable and weak but...Granny's got a gun in her purse, and she's old enough not to care about jail time to use it!
  6. I will second @Ohiotaku's recommendation of Banner of the Stars. It is harem-free Space Opera at its best. Consider Crest of the Stars to be the prequel that lays the lore and foundation for the Banner series. The romance is believable, not rushed, and one of my personal favorites. And here I thought I'd be the only hardcore Space Opera fan in this forum forever. Message me if you ever want to chat about it or start up a thread.

    Question

Lol...nope. looks like someone upvoted my answer! That would be pretty impressive if I did!

    Question

    That is from Re Zero.
  9. The wafer if drowned in milk...otherwise it is the marrying of the two that makes the sparks fly. The wafer is too dry by itself to be enjoyable and the cream is too stiff to bother with on its own.
  10. I'd say look into Baccanno! It moves fast but it has it all in all the right ratios, dark and light, humor and seriousness...might be a bit scary in some places so depending on your family friendly definition.... Engaged to the Unidentified is also quite good. Though I think Ah! My Goddess fits the bill for you. Easy going, with some humor, lovable characters, and timeless story.
  11. It is an interesting concept... I tend to let my dreams and daydreams manifest my ideas. Then I create as I go along while also mapping out background amd character info and plot progression. It os always interesting to see how other people go about it.
  12. I will be away on business and on call that night. I plan on studying for my RE exam and being miserable. My husband will be spending the day with his true love, our cat (she has him wrapped around her paw). At least she's getting a good Vday this year!
  13. My King Ascends Sacred Dominion. Or perhaps... More Klonopin Awards Sweet Days. VMMMA
  14. Mine wanted me to update, but I said no way to it. I wanted to spend 30 minutes playing not updating. I usually play offline anyways. Can't help you there.
  15. DangerouslyFunny is one of my favorite channels. He does a lot of Stardew Valley videos and his humor is right up my alley. Love listening to his voice too so I listen to him on long car rides, even if I'm not watching the videos. I watch everything that he puts up. My favorite quote from him is "if I'm not breaking the game, I'm not playing it right". In his first videos he was very informative but then that humor starts to slip in and he transforms into the great DF. It's a Southern Thing is another channel that I love. They really have the Southern culture down pat. I love all their videos and it's so true, ya'll! Lol...from the if unsolved mysteries were Southern type of videos, to back porch bickering, to trying to pronounce city names of various Southern States, there isn't a single video I haven't thoroughly enjoyed. I love them with Valentine's day coming up, I suggest you check out their "when she says not to get her a Valentine's day gift" video. It'll crack you up
  16. I keep a typed list by genre of anime I own in my inbox to reference on the go if I'm out at a con buying anime. As far as what I've watched? I don't keep track of that. I've seen too many and can't remember half of what I've seen for it to matter. The bonus to that is that I could rewatch a series from 5 years ago and re-experience the magic (with a lot of deja vu lol). If the shrinkwrap is still on it, there is a 50% chance I never watched it before. That's good enough for me.
  17. Hehe, Valerian and Laureline was good but not entirely true to it's own origins as well but I still enjoyed it (I too went in knowing a lot about the source material on that one). Do your best to go into it just hoping that they stick to the character's personalities if not their storylines and hopefully you'll enjoy it. If it ends up bombing, I'll actually be surprised. The trailers look great so far (Ghost in the Shell to me did not have great trailers) so perhaps that is a good omen. Lots of trilogies out there to be honest...seems to be the thing to do these days.
  18. I'm looking forward to it. Going in with no expectations at all so I will undoubtedly be happy with the outcome. I was ticked off at Mortal Engines changing the ending to push a political viewpoint. I go to the movies to relax and enjoy myself. Not be fed more garbage. As long as Alita avoids that, I'm bound to be happy with it.
  19. The Boy and the Beast immediately comes to mind, as does Wolf Children. Wolf Children is more Slice of Life/Coming of Age for sure.
  20. Part of the judging criteria would be how well you contained costs. This would mean if you needed something small, flat, round and metallic gold, you could use some cheap dollarstore eyeshadow cases and just paint them and glue them on instead of actually using metal or trying to form foam. If would be affordable and something most anybody could do regardless of skill. Kind of like a cosplay pieces on the fly too. Cosplay doesn't have to be expensive or time consuming after all. I had planned on having s few criteria with varying point values (cost containment, feasibility for the cosplayer use (is it too heavy? Does it require special skills to make?), how much time would be spent on it, how good or bad does it probably look).
  21. You earn points via your posts and the points can then be used in the forum store to purchase perks. For instance, many of our members purchase the random post count (to boost their post count artificially) or reputation and the member titles (if purchased, this allows you to change your title from "AF Member" to "Super Sayain" or what you think up. Sometimes people even purchase limited time pins to boost the visibility of a thread they've initiated or sponsored. The points are also on a leaderboard and can take quite a bit of time and effort to accumulate. They can only be earned, donated, and used to purchase store goods but they can be quite useful as well.
  22. The train races down on Shikui's shocked form as he stares motionless at his impending doom. Shikui realizes death is near when a black cat crosses over the tracks and the train suddenly derails. As the dust clears, Shikui is seen standing unharmed on the tracks. He picks up the cat and heads home. Upon arriving at his house, he brings the cat inside and feeds him fresh fish before stepping out in his backyard. The ground beneath his feet starts to rumble as a sinkhole opens, dragging him within....
  23. Hello everyone So, I have been thinking of running this contest for a while now, and would like to see the interest in it before I run it. I'd like to have 5 contestants minimum, so please reply below if you are interested. This is also my way of seeing if there is any forum interest in opening a cosplay section on the forum as I am interested in having one. The contest will run for five days and will be judged by myself and the winners (1st, 2nd, and honorable mention) will be paid out or gifted from my points accounts a set amount for their efforts. If I recieve enough interest by Friday at 1pm EST the contest will commence with full rules, prizes, and guidelines being posted over the weekend. This is planned to be a multiday contest with a new challenge every day. Please only participate if you believe that you will be able to respond to five daily challenges. The challenges will be parts of an outfit, accessory, or likewise. I will not ask you to plan a full outfit on a challenge nor multiple accessories on a single day.
