  1. @Crevanille long list but it is good to see another Code Lyoko and Sherlock Holmes in the 22nd Century fan out there! I think of my own list you are missing Cybersix, but I'm going to guess you probably saw it but it slipped your mind...
  2. I typically play the routes I want....sometimes I'll try something different to see what the other side is like. I have discovered that I have a type and what characteristics I prefer a romantic interest to display (apparently I go after the same type all the time lol). I might try multiple endings...but sometimes it just isn't worth it. Depends on the quality of the story itself.
  3. Welcome back fellow feline! I hope the holiday season has been good to you
  4. @leinwandname I don't know. I think this is a valid (yet tragic) point. Sadly not all of us will read the novels or manga. Ending on a cliffhanger is just bad form to me. Still, I think of this list as a list that sees an end to the source material as well as the anime. When the author stops writing, for whatever reason, both the anime and the source material will come to an end. As a writer myself, I can empathize with the reasons they have had to put their passion for the story on a back burner.
  5. So, we all have anime we enjoyed right up to the last episode...hoping anxiously that it would be continued, only to learn....it was never meant to be. Other than lack of sales, there are a surprising number of reasons for a series to die off. Here are just a few that come to mind. Consider some of your own favorite series that suddenly ended for seemingly no reason at all. 1. Sometimes, the author is sick or dies. The series that immediately springs to my mind here is Kaze no Stigma. A wind mage and fire mage, cousins with a sordid history involving who would take over as head of the family, are brought together again...drama and comedy ensue of course. The anime cut off right at a critical time. (No spoilers so I'll stop there) We never actually find out what becomes of everyone, if the romance actually works out...just when things start to smooth out for the pair the story ends. ~sighs~ Well, the author, Takahiro Yamato, actually wrote the series while he was suffering from Leukemia and was unable to complete it before his death. It is sad to consider when watching it now how he struggled to write it while he was dieing. Now, this is not always the end of a series. In non-anime, there have been instances in which another person, usually a close friend who also is an author, takes over the work and sees it to completion (Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time series for instance). I actually have never seen this happen with anime (does not mean it hasn't!). Another that comes to mind is Recovery of an MMO Junkie where the author went on hiatus due to an illness. We can only hope for her recovery. 2. Can't we all just get along? Well, sometimes, the studio and the author simply have different opinions on how the work should be conveyed. In His and Her Circumstances, for instance, the studio wanted to focus primarily on the comedic aspects of the story whereas the author simply wanted the romance and the comedy to be equally given. The disagreement over how the story should be conveyed was likely not a diplomatic one (as one could note the final few episodes of the only season are a train wreck). I can only imagine the author's trust in animation studios was utterly destroyed. 3. If you want that tax money, you'll have to catch me first! Yep...I don't know if he actually broke the tax law in Japan on purpose or if it was all a big accounting error (I'm going to go with accounting error...regardless, it wouldn't stop me from reading and watching his works!). Log Horizon was put on hold during a difficult time in the author's life as he dealt with Japan's Tax Collectors snd accusations of tax evasion. I think we can all feel some compassion for his situation. Thankfully, it appears he has started writing again so for this one, we may actually see a new season come out in a year or two. 4. Natural Diasasters end good stories. Yona of the Dawn fell victim to this one. A huge earthquake in Japan forced the author to go on an indefinite hiatus. I admit, when reeling from a huge disaster, you do tend to be more concerned with where your next meal will come from and helping your community rebuild and rehome it's people. That is not a bad thing. I understand. While recently the author has restarted writing, it is unknown if the anime will be picked up again after so long by the studios. I hope it will be made but...who can say? 5. Miracles take a lot of work! Haha, sometimes, an author starts a family and takes time off to raise the little ones. This happened with the author of Otome Yokai Zakuro. Now, while she has stated her intentions to return to writing as soon as she can, we all know the enormous energy dump that children can be (and where one happens a second sometimes follows a year or two later). It is a miracle of life and I'm happy for her...just wondering how good a season two could be... For those of you Ouran fans who haven't seen this, the lead male reminds me of Tamaki, albeit far more likable and forgivable. It is a beautiful romance for anyone interested. Well, for now this is my list. Feel free to add on your own list of reasons and lost anime. I'm sure I've missed some as I wrote this out tonight and I certainly won't pretend to know them all either.
  6. Grim adventures trap lost souls. SDWIF
  7. Broad topic... probably telescopes these days, complete with mounts and go-to software. Some days, I just want to be lazy. Or just stare at Saturn or Venus without having to work for it (beyond lugging the scope out to begin with). As for daily stuff? My cellphone. It has everything I need. I've relied on it more than ever the past 3 months. Sad but true.
  8. If you were s Sim, you'd be low on energy but still high from that Fiendishly Delighted Emote from Internet Trolling lol...
  9. Lol... @XII360 as Scrooge would say, Halloween is the better holiday there is slways the next year for drawing...
  10. Welcome to the forums @Vertigo we are a fun loving group so you've come to the right place! Just to get to know you a little better, what are some of your favorite anime?
  11. Merry Christmas everyone! I sincerely hope you are all surrounded by good friends and loved family, dining on good food, finding thoughtful presents under the tree, and rediscovering the joy of the season today. Merry Christmas, happy holidays, and a good 25th of December to all!
  12. Log Horizon does have a winter festival/Christmas in season 2 as efaardvark said. It is a good series regardless. You waited pretty late to collect them...I'll be surprised if you can find enough to fill a DVD, but good luck anyways perhaps Father Time will help you out there....
  13. Click under the post where it says "Updated 11 minutes ago" for example and click on that link. It should take you directly to new content, though you may have to scroll up to get to the oldest of the new content (depending on how far behind in the thread you are). It may not show the "new content" line on threads you have not visited in several weeks that have recently become active again.
  14. Welcome to the forums.
  15. I have collected anime over a long time, so similar to my video game collection, I probably have more than enough to keep me happy watching and rewatching for years. As for format...I'm trying to target blurays when available. I have plenty of DVDs (especially of the old stuff) but my collection started with VHS (Tenchi Universe on VHS and Yu Yu Hakusho on VHS - hung onto Tenchi...had the movies on VHS fof Tenchi too) and soon after I got those, VHS died out and everything went to DVD (my old VHS player doesn't even work anymore!) Had to repurchase the anime on DVD so I could watch it again. That might never happen with DVDs, but better to go ahead and spend a little extra now than be left high and dry later. Other than that, I stream a little on Crunchyroll and occasionally Funimation. Rarely on Netflix but I used to be big on Hulu. If you do a lot of streaming however it can be the cost of a new anime added to your collection every month so I cut back (I budget for my anime. Everything has a cost). I do prefer my DVDs and Blurays. No internet required, easy to fast forward, great extras and trailers to watch to see what else is out there... definitely has its perks.
  16. Rin-ne is by the same group that did Inuyasha so I highly advise you check it out. Other than that, some old ones you might want to catch would be Outlaw Star, Moribito, Escaflowne... some newer ones I'd recommend would be Log Horizon, Is it Wrong to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?, and Beyond the Boundary.
  17. Probably Familiar of Zero. I didn't mind Loiuse whipping Saito (he usually deserved it) but the downgrade of the maid and princess to total slut was outrageous and extremely annoying. Loved the ending. Hated every fondled breast and harem interruption along the way. There's more likely more video games that have angered me than anime though I completely agree with the DBZ comments. I used to say it took 5 episodes just for the first powerup in a fight because they had to each have a monologue or two. Then they were never powered all the way. 'Oh, you made me bleed. Well i was holding back. Stand by passively while I spend the next hour powering up even more! Ahhhhhhh!!!!!!" Very tiresome. More tiresome than angry. I do get irked on how everyone hates on Kuwabara (Yu Yu Hakusho) just because of his looks and voice. His personality was actually refreshing though I preferred Kurama myself. Thinking back to that one scene in the first season where Yusuke is trying to get Kuwabara to kiss him so he can be revived by running that romance scene in his dreams still cracks me up to this day. poor poor Kuwabara. LOL
  18. A new job closer to home. But anime-wise? Yamato for sure. Possible Log Horizon season 3... maybe Snow White with the Red Hair season 3...

    Lucid Dream

Yes, I have actually though it was a long time ago when I meditated multiple times a day. I actually have a book at home on astral projection and part of it is getting you to the lucid dreaming stage. Just haven't had the time to really devote to it. What have you been trying so far? I might have had some recently, at home actually. I think because when I'm home I completely relax which really helps you get there. My memory of them is pretty hazy however. If I don't write it down, it disappears within 12 hours for me.
  20. Welcome to the forums Crevanille
  21. Welcome to the forums which anime have you been getting into recently?
  22. Welcome to the forums Crunchyroll is free (but has annoying ads if you use the free version) so that is something. Anime is not dead but I think forums are just difficult to maintain these days. Even with a solid, positive community, forum staff can run themselves ragged taking care of spammers and people making random accounts purely for advertising.
