You just described a lot of RPG fans! And you should make a thread about games like those! I have a huge list myself if you are looking for recommendations Vesperia did have a great cast. Some people really complain about Captain Karol, but I actually liked his character (his terror of bugs and all). I have this sneaking suspicion he was harped on about by some because he is the kid in the group (I think most every Tales game has an obligatory pre-teen or pre-teen looking member in it). I had to grind out money in the game to afford the TP vials...if only regenerating TP hadn't been so difficult. I hear that a lot about Asbel as well. My best friend loved the game but didn't like Asbel. Her reasoning was his insistence that Cheria shouldn't be in the group because it endangered her (he was trying to protect her - my friend thought it offensive and backwards thinking lol). What was your reasoning for not liking Asbel? They were rather well made. I especially liked Jude's character in Xillia. Okay, Abyss and Berseria keep getting mentioned. I need to move them up on my list to sooner rather than later!

Well...no judging! Used to when I played The Sims I would entrap and torture annoying neighbors and watch them slowly die. These days, I make characters with certain goals, like maxing out kids as a single mom all fathered by different men (somehow her naughty reputation has yet to catch up to her) or by authoring novels with hilarious names. The Sims gives me an outlet for my wicked side that I bury most of the time. These days, I play it infrequently. My laptop it is installed in has to be repaired frequently as the hard drive is going bad. With most games, I play them right (and often in a paragon manner). The Sims just brings out the worst in me lol...I guess it gives me a "fiendishly delighted" emote for a few hours LOL!

I never got around to Zestiria or Berseria myself but they are definitely on my list to tackle. Did you play the afterstory with the Little Queen? The dancing in Legendia was the post battle cutscene where they figure up your points from the battle and grade you. Usually the characters talk to each other or mess around with their weapons but in Legendia they breakdance... I do need to give Abyss a try. The next time I take a week off, I'll start it. You saying Tales of Xillia II? I have it but didn't play it. Enjoyed the first one. Played Jude first and loved it. Had to play Millia for the complete story (less wowed by her story...my best friend was opposite on that).

Okay, so many of us on this forum are familiar with the Tales of series (a wonderful RPG series). Now, I've been thinking. My favorite character is probably Raven, from Tales of Vesperia. Whenever he was available to my party, I always had him there. In fact, with Estelle being fairly worthless to my party (she could never survive long enough to cast a healing spell and was a waste of resurrection vials yet SOMEHOW the twit becomes ridiculously powerful when she's being mind-controlled! Where was that power when I needed it!?), I filled my party with Yuri, Karol, Rita, and Raven (at least 3 of the 4 could perform healing and this worked extremely well). I will admit that I've always had a thing for archers. Who knows, maybe the Robin Hood tales did me in when I was younger, but if there is an archer in the party, I gravitate towards him or her. Raven was an archer and he was fun to play as (and could heal party members from a distance). I liked his attitude too. He came across as more real of a person than the rest (other than Yuri, they did great with him). I also like older men so having an "old man" in my party was pretty nice That being said, my favorite game was NOT Vesperia. I don't know if it was just me, but I could never ever ever had enough TP in that game (no, we're not talking about toilet paper). I was downing those vials like they were cheap (and I don't think they were!). The battle system just seemed like they forget to sit a bunch of players through the whole game to see if it worked. Originally my favorite game (and first Tales game) was Tales of Symphonia on the Gamecube. It also had my then favorite character (if only she had been an archer! lol), Raine, who was an AMAZING COOK (hehehehehehehe I have never had such entertaining afterbattle dialogue popups before. I TORTURED my poor group the entire game!), and her "Ruin Mode" was quite comedic as well. Some days, she still is my favorite Tales character! How can anyone really just have one? Anyhow, my favorite game now is Tales of Graces (which I surprisingly don't have a favorite character from...) and I think part of it is the mix of characters (no one is too outlandish other than that one girl) and part of it is the tragedy, and another part was definitely Cheria and Asbel. It was just enjoyable all around and the ending was poignant. I even played the after-story (which I won't always do if I'm not hugely impressed by a game). I know some people said the plot was derivative and all, but that doesn't matter to me. It is how the story is told that matters and the interactions between the characters were extremely well written. I could believe the history between the characters existed it was done so well. Now I want to replay it just thinking about it... The only Tales game that I started and didn't finish was Legendia….the breakdancing post-battle...if I could have just turned it off..... >_> I heard Abyss was better, and I have them both, but I never played Abyss for fear the dancing was contagious.... So, what were your favorite Tales games and characters? Do they come from the same game or are you split with your affections? Was there something you liked or didn't like about a particular game?

So, lately bad luck just seems to be stalking me...like a yandere nipping at my heels. Well, now my car won't start. I suppose the silver lining is that I wasn't 400 miles away. Doesn't make the cost to fix it any easier to swallow. This seems to be one thing after another for me. What could happen next? Guess I am home bound until my husband is done teaching class. At least the kittens are loving this turn of events.

As for alcohol and neurons, your brain does not fully mature until your mid20s. That means neural connections are still being made and altered. Alcohol and other drugs can interfere and inhibit or misdirect those connections so while you wouldn't have brain damage from it, neurologically, you will likely never reach your potential. Most real neuronal death will come from a lack of oxygen supplying the tissues (from depressed breathing or asphyxiation on your vomit). As for me, I am in the lucky few that don't get hangovers, ever. I enjoy dry red wine and I mix my own drink and cocktails at home (I have a veritable liquor store supply at my home.). I do shots of liquor or shooters at home. Occasionally I order a mixed drink when out or a margarita at Longhorns (both the strawberry and watermelon ones are really good). I like a glass of gin or southern comfort after a long day at work. I don't drink beer (even when I visited Germany I didn't)...unless it is the "root" beer variety in a float . I have always wanted to try grog and mead. These days I rarely drink. The older you get the more weight a little bit of alcohol will add to your hips. It is more a at most monthly pastime as opposed to weekly. I do understand why some people drink to forget and I don't judge them for it. Rather I feel I should be grateful that I am not in their shoes. Different people have tolerances for only so much grief.

Problem : Faster than light?
Beocat replied to Myouya's topic in Astrophysics / General science club's Topics
Considering that all our math starts to break down as you approach the speed of light, it means we are probably missing something important in the equations (so perhaps there isn't a limit but a transition that occurs instead). We still cannot fully explain black holes (which have photons spiraling into them, which were already moving at the speed of light) so our astrophysicists and theoretical physicists still have a lot of work to do. -
How about you give us a date range? How old were you when you saw it (what year did you see it?)? English sub or subbed only? Remember anything else (hair colors, etc)?

It's a good song. Very clean, strong undercurrents, actually the type I tend to like. I like that stays away from the soprano octaves. 8/10 Uchu Kaizuko

I too am a fan of horror games The absolute most terrifying one I ever played was Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem. It played with my mind so bad I started believing...time to turn the lights back on! Since then I played and finished Haunting Ground (like you), though I was more annoyed by the end of the villain's interruptions to chase you than anything else. Still enjoyed it. I imagine you might not have had access to Rule of Rose (banned in Australia, maybe in Europe too). It too featured a canine companion but I actually felt more connected with him than Hewie (though Hewie definitely got the better name lol). That one horrified as opposed to terrorising. Kuon was also from that era and really did well with sudden frights. The limited respawns increased the difficulty and made you even more cautious. Until Dawn is really good too. Getting everyone to survive is difficult. It excelled in suspense and atmosphere. I have many more but those stick out the best. Especially Eternal Darkness...

And why.... Pokemon, Monster Rancher, or Digimon? For me, it would actually be Monster Rancher. I have so many good memories of it and never really was terribly into Pokemon (blasphemy I know!). I don't remember much of it, but it might truthfully be the first Trapped in a Video Game anime... not sure if dot Hack beat it out there or not. Once I might've said Digimon, but they put too many jokes in it (bad jokes) to stand the test of time for me. What about all of you?

Cardcaptor Sakura with Syaoron.

Closest thing I can think of is Majestic Prince (you find out towards the end). Two are maybe twins or siblings from different mothers? Test tube babies anyways so, eh. The Twin A vs Twin B scenario is far more commonplace.

Anime and video games are expensive so I am always on the lookout for a sale. I could purchase everything at full price, but I would get a lot less if I did. I have missed out on a lot of good ones too =/

As the title says, Sentai has announced it is no longer printing Mardock Scramble. At the Sentai store, they've reduced the price of the trilogy to ~$15 for anyone who wants to grab a copy before they are gone. My thoughts on the series ~ interesting sci-fi with good story. The theatrical vs directors cut just shows more or censors a few of the darkest parts of the story, but it only affects a handful of scenes. Sci-fi and Ghost in the Shell fans would enjoy it, as would those that like dark and gritty shows. It is a solid show but I would be surprised if most fans of the genre hadn't already seen it.

I'd like to give Moribito an honorable mention. Balsa has a romance going on with one character that does develop (he would do anything for her) although she holds him at arm's length. It is highly suggested she intends to return to him at the end after completing her final task (returning her guardian's remains to their homeland). I give it honorable mention because the anime gives you a good view of how they would be as parents together (which I cannot personally think of many others that do anything similar). The desire to hook up is there but her oath takes priority.

Tragedies are awesome and far more realistic. No one really "lives happily ever after". Got to die sometime. That made me love Kanon...all kinds of tragic... Wolf Children to me would not have made such an impact on me emotionally if it hadn't made me full of sorrow. My heart went out to those characters (and not just early in the movie!).

I consider dot hack//SIGN to be yuri-lite. Those that have seen it will probably know what I'm talking about.

Go watch Galaxy Railways. It is quite good. I love it so much. Another couple popped in my mind. Future Diary the romance ends in tragedy...I am a sucker for tragedy. Otogi Zoshi did as well (don't watch the modern arc...it sucks). It was on your MAL list but Cross Ange qualifies. Didn't remember it until I looked at your list.

Got to go cook dinner but Familiar of Zero immediately comes to mind and hits all marks. Truthfully, Galaxy Railroad had a good romance intertwined in it too (though not to the finishing degree as Familiar of Zero). Trigun too had one...though it wasn't much of a romance. I believe Wolfwood and Millie have an alluded to romance with possible bedroom action, but like many anime of it's time you do a lot of assuming... I believe all 3 of those also have an ending. Will contemplate more...

Granted, but the controllers don't work. I wish I had a robot maid like Rosie (wonder if anyone will catch that reference)...
