I'm ok with hot as long as it's also dry. Add even a small amount of humidity and the AC goes on.

For me it is mostly entertainment. Entertainment and relaxation is necessary for mental health. As long as it doesn’t turn into escapism or obsession and take over your life then that’s a good thing. One of the things I look for in things like anime or books or movies is a good story based in reality - actual physics and realistic political and social expectations - that nevertheless manages to portray a positive outcome of some sort. At their best such stories can even inspire people to make them happen in real life. Even if it is a grim story of power and corruption gaining an upper hand it can have a “good” outcome if it informs you on a topic or provides an actionable warning that keeps you out of trouble. Not everything is like that of course. As Sturgeon said, 90% of everything is crap. But if you seek out and focus on the other 10%, that tithe can make up for it and even be net positive, both on a personal and societal level.

That wasn’t Railgun, that was Index. There was a crossover where Touma (the boy you mention) teams with Misaki against Accelerator for an episode or two but Touma is the MC from A Certain Magical Index. Sorry I do not recall the episode(s) of Railgun that he appears in, though like I said he’s prominent in the Accelerator arc.. in the later episodes of Railgun IIRC. hth

Welcome @Riu!

Found a mushroom cave while delving, and a herd of mooshrooms therein.

He moved it… For scale those hands are about face height to me. I’m 5’10” so this guy’s not your average Halloween scarecrow. I also noticed this evening that his neighbor has now put some decorations of his own up as well.. .. this guy was a lot more elaborate last year so this may be just the opening offering. (Sorry for the poor quality of the second one. I was in my car in the middle of the road so I had to make it quick.)

As a science / engineering geek who likes realistic speculative fiction myself I'm sorry to say that those kinds of stories are few and far between. Especially these days when everything is an isekai segue into some sort of fantasy. Relatively recently there was a comedy / slice of life called Science Fell in Love so I Tried to Prove It that was vaguely sciencey. Another one that was more geology oriented was Ruri no Houseki / Ruri's Rocks. That one just finished in the last season. Going back a bit there were also a couple/few space themed ones like Uchuu_Kyoudai / Space Brothers and Planetes that at least took the underlying science or physics of the story seriously. That's unfortunately all I can recall at the moment. Hope that helps. If anyone else wants to chime in please do so. I'm always on the lookout for such myself.

Cheers..

Welcome @Strawbiie ! I love sci fi so these days I’m probably more into games than anime but anime is more a long-term thing with me. Been interested in it since even before Star Blazers and Speed Racer. Got a boost in HS when a classmate (CVHS class of 82) became a voice actor and never fully subsided from there. I’m usually a bit of a lurker but don’t be afraid to say “hi” if you see me around and you’ve a mind. (Asocial, not anti-.)

Discovered ice cream in my modded minecraft. You would not think that ice cream would be part of a mod called "Tough as Nails". Oddly enough you do not make it with milk. The recipe instead requires 3 snowballs. I'm thinking it is more like shaved ice. (You can also buy it from the Climatologist villager.) Also saw a nice auroral display just after moonrise. Cool. I played the GBA and 3DS handheld versions back in the day. Is the bundle worth it?

Well, I haven't been able to get both dynamic trees and Conquest Reforged running in the same game yet. Gonna keep trying. I have managed to get most everything else running however. Below is a pic from my current test world. I like the tree generation, courtesy of Still Life: This world is running: BetterF3 Cloth Config v19 API Collective Distant Horizons GlitchCore Iris Lithium Lithosphere Serene Seasons Sodium Still Life Tough As Nails Tree Harvester Also the "complementary unbound" shader and the "faithful x32" resource pack.

I have a neighbor who went and got one of those 12' skeletons from Home Depot and already has it set up in his yard. He's got an ~8' hedge running along the sidewalk in front of his house. He has the skeleton set up so that it's leaning over the hedge and looking down at the sidewalk with it's hand reaching through the hedge at about shoulder height. Gonna scare the bejesus out of at least a couple trick-or-treaters as they come down the street this year. I've already seen a few passers-by doing a quick double-take as they walk by, even during the day. Now if you'll excuse me I'm gonna go watch Zom 100.

I found the edges of the desert. Or at least a few more plants and not so much sand. Still hot! The mountains in the distance were about 2 days ride away. On the other side I found a proper forest for the first time in this game! .. and eventually, an ocean! And civilization!

Hello and welcome, 8054. Is there significance to "8054"? It is an almost-prime number, being the factor of 2 and 4027, but I assume it has some deeper context attached? I myself am 4450, in minecraft years. Give or take a few.. my birthday was a week or two ago on the 10th.

Today I burned the roof of my mouth on some pizza.

League of Lights, Dreamers Don't Come Down album..

I'm kind of liking it too. I binge at the end of the season so I'm still in the middle of it but from what I've seen so far it's I've got a couple others from this season on my list that I still haven't even started yet so I'm not ready to say it's the best of '25, but it's certainly worth a watch.

Added "Serene Seasons" to my mods...

Thanks! And no apologies necessary..

Oh I've been to the desert on a horse with no name...
