  1. Well, don't you see, if it's not live-action, it might as well be a kids' cartoon. Because as we all know, Hellsing, Tenjho Tenge, Fate and Madoka Magica are all family fun for everyone! So is Family Guy. Everyone knows that's a kids' cartoon, totally!
  2. If I only did laundry when I felt like it, we would never have clean clothes.

  3. .hack//Legend of the Twilight. My older siblings were already fans of the franchise. I will admit I wasn't old enough to read it back then, so I had to sneak looks in. I will admit I found Ouka attractive. I'm aware that was the point, but still.
  4. From Marvel to DC and others, I think we may have read a few. But myself, I've been reading the new TMNT run. Jason Aaron's run is set to end at issue 12, with issue 13 having Gene Luen Yang as the writer. Heard mostly good things about his work, but I thought Jason Aaron would last longer. Enjoyed Jason Aaron's run, but I saw some criticize it. I say read it and judge for yourself. I used to read Sonic, but I have fallen behind on it. I prefer to follow the games these days.
  5. I feel like at this point, old shows that are unfinished should be wrapped up. They will keep saying they can't keep those promises right now, but there comes a point where you gotta ask...if not now, then when? I feel like there are lots of unfulfilled promises in these entertainment industries in general. And the longer they take to hold their end of the bargain, the less invested I am,
  6. It likes to go back and forth between rainy and sunny. We are closer to the end of the season.
  7. I thought this was going to be about the universal appeal of Bleach, and I was prepared to say "it isn't for everyone and that's okay." But destroying entire solar systems? I haven't read nearly enough Bleach to judge that for myself, so for all I know, maybe this is addressed in the actual series. But I don't think we should ask if they can destroy solar systems, but instead ask why they'd even want to even if they had the ability. Maybe if they just hate the universe and themselves. Again, haven't seen all of Bleach, so maybe there is an explanation for this I just missed.
  8. I was thinking about an eight episode marathon of Diamond & Pearl, but I decided this wasn't the week to do it. Decided I prefer having the day after off. In the meantime, I can still stick to my two episode minimum.
  9. I find my answer to that question depends on what side of either company you're asking about. I prefer Marvel's movies for the most part, even if they faltered in recent years, but DC has had the occasional hit. But I prefer DC's comics and cartoons, if with DC the comic side only wins by a hair since I don't trust Marvel at all and wrote the Spider-Man comics in particular off as a lost cause; I promised myself going forward, even if fans praise a Marvel run as it's happening, I will wait until it's finished before it's even worth the consideration. DC at least has my Sonic crossover. DC's cartoons are also preferred. My favorite has always been Teen Titans, though the DCAU has never been far behind. Marvel has had good shows, but even the best ones never really left the same impact. For the gaming side of things...I'd say they're about equal in that field. And I mean that for both the good and the bad. But really, neither have ever really had my absolute favorite comics. My favorite mainstream comics have been from Archie (Sonic, Mega Man) or IDW (Sonic again, TMNT). DC and Marvel have always been less of a priority for me. Especially these days.
  10. Been watching Diamond & Pearl. As I said before, the plan is to watch all 191 episodes plus the four movies. I don't know if it will stop there. Currently up to episode 35, so it will be a while before I get to the end. The bare minimum has been two episodes a week, with more happening when I feel up to it, but I definitely try not to make it less. I know Diamond & Pearl is notorious for its filler. But I am not accepting skip lists. I find I tend to disagree with the Pokemon fandom at large when allowed to form my own opinions. I am watching 191 episodes to decide for myself what's important. What most of the fandom declares filler may end up having a moment that means the world to me that I personally want to keep in future watches. Or maybe I will agree with the fandom at large. But either way, I want to come to that conclusion independently. After that? I was thinking of watching Dawn's return in BW: Rival Destinies, Master Journeys, Ultimate Journeys and Arceus Chronicles, just to complete her story. People tell me with Ash's story done, Dawn is probably unlikely to return, and I think I agree...but I will say this; she's come back when I least expected her to before. It's improbable, unlikely, but never impossible.
  11. Learn how to paint. I have many comic ideas, but I need others to draw the art. Would you visit Mutant Town, or live in Mutant Town?
  12. I am Amelia. I'm trying to enjoy a normal day shopping with my sister Amanda, but all these crazy people seem to wanna cause all sorts of trouble for everyone. "I just wanna grab dinner and go..." I said, weary about all this. Amanda wants pizza. I'm totally not into pizza...yeah... totally don't like pizza at all...
  13. Well...I'll be real with you, there was a time I could have told you what was new and upcoming for anime, but at my age, what kids call old news may be something I still perceive to be new. I'm old enough to remember when Dimension W was hyped up. I honestly wonder how many people remember its existence, but it still feels newer to me despite it being like a decade or so old at this point. I am in my early 30s, but the fact that I have this realization of my perception of time probably means I'm in the beginning of old people problems.
  14. Watched the new Superman in theaters some weeks back. I think James Gunn did a good job with it, honestly. But we shall see if this new DCU keeps up the momentum. DC has proven time and time again that a few successes doesn't guarantee a consistent string of them.
  15. I think more people need to hear this; there's more anime out there than we will ever experience in a lifetime. We will all reach an age where we can't keep up with what's new anymore. The sooner you realize this, the easier it to prioritize what you like. That said, never be afraid to get out of your comfort zone, either.

    1. Ryuji

      Ryuji

I've recently come to this conclusion as well. It was difficult to come to terms with.

Also, it's good to see you again. I almost didn't recognize you without the Amitie profile pic.

  16. Honestly, felt more connected to the scene during the late 90s-early 2010s. This isn't to say we haven't had good stuff since then, but I have only gotten worse at keeping up over time as I get older. I strongly suspect this won't be over soon, if ever. But oddly enough, I'm okay with that.
  17. I honestly don't do either. I would rather just buy the show I want on DVD or Blu-ray and then not have to pay again. Short term, it might cost more, but long-term, I do find it's beneficial to me when I don't have to worry about monthly fees.
  18. You're never too old for anime. If anything, what we're all really too old for is to let others decide what we can and can't like. I let others make that call and I regret it. I don't want you to have those same regrets.
  19. I am about to say something that would have been downright blasphemous of me to say a decade ago because I wanted to fit in with a "cool crowd" that ultimately didn't give a damn about me. I'm watching Pokemon: Diamond & Pearl. I decided to watch all 191 episodes. And there is one simple reason for this; I love Dawn. And I'm tired of pretending I don't. A decade ago, I was in severe denial of this fact, and I kinda wanna make up for it. That said, it's slow going. At the time I'm posting this, I'm only up to episode 35. My weird schedule means my watching isn't consistent, and I was wondering how to approach it, though I decided to make it a bare minimum of two episodes a week, maybe more if I can fit them in. I also decided to throw the movies into the equation. It's actually pretty good so far. It ain't perfect, heck no, but I am finding myself enjoying it a lot more when I'm not trying to fit in with a crowd that would throw me to the wolves the moment I even slightly deviated from what they said was "acceptable."
  20. I'm here again. For how long, I dunno. Changed my avi to be more up to date with my OC Amelia, but you probably don't care about that. But yeah, I have had a lot of reflections, a lot of realizations, and wondering if there even is a place for me in forums as a whole. We shall see, of course.
  21. I really don't have a good modernized header image to use, so...have a random background for now, I guess...

  22. I decided to start reading the Granblue Fantasy manga. The first volume was pretty good; they know how to start a story. I just hope they know how to end it with vol. 7, or at least make me want more.
  23. A friend of mine told me he joined this place, and he suggested I come here again, so here I am. It's been a number of years, really; some of you may recognize me, and some of you may have completely forgotten who I am. To those who remember, you may have noticed I don't have my Amitie avi anymore; I still love her, but I decided to use my OC as an avi instead. Her name is Amelia. To all new members who joined since I disappeared, I hope we get along! To those who remember me and haven't seen me in a while, I hope things are going well for you.
  24. Call me behind, but I decided to finally ready my copy of A Certain Magical Index's manga. First volume. Seems like a good story so far, but I've learned the manga skips some story arcs entirely, while the anime at least covers them. But I've been wondering; of the arcsthe manga DOES cover, did it adapt them better or worse than the anime? And could I read them and simply read the light novels of the skipped arcs? Kinda don't have the patience I used to to read books, or at the very least, I didn't.
