  1. I really don't have a good modernized header image to use, so...have a random background for now, I guess...

  2. I decided to start reading the Granblue Fantasy manga. The first volume was pretty good; they know how to start a story. I just hope they know how to end it with vol. 7, or at least make me want more.
  3. A friend of mine told me he joined this place, and he suggested I come here again, so here I am. It's been a number of years, really; some of you may recognize me, and some of you may have completely forgotten who I am. To those who remember, you may have noticed I don't have my Amitie avi anymore; I still love her, but I decided to use my OC as an avi instead. Her name is Amelia. To all new members who joined since I disappeared, I hope we get along! To those who remember me and haven't seen me in a while, I hope things are going well for you.
  4. Call me behind, but I decided to finally ready my copy of A Certain Magical Index's manga. First volume. Seems like a good story so far, but I've learned the manga skips some story arcs entirely, while the anime at least covers them. But I've been wondering; of the arcsthe manga DOES cover, did it adapt them better or worse than the anime? And could I read them and simply read the light novels of the skipped arcs? Kinda don't have the patience I used to to read books, or at the very least, I didn't.
  5. I'm still of the stance that anime is literally a description for "cartoons made in Japan." And look at the above post. So unfortunately, like it or not, in Japan, stuff like Sausage Party of all things can be called "anime" and nobody would bat an eye.

    Smoking

I've never smoked, and I'm scared to. Part of it is that I know it'll kill me, but another part of is that I'm scared that if I try it once, I'll get addicted and never stop.
  7. How has life been treating you today?

  8. You're welcome. And it's back to normal on my end. Thank you! If anyone else is having the issue, don't hesitate to mention it!
  9. It seems the Amitie image link is broken. I'll post the image in case you're in need of a new copy.
  10. Of course. I've thought about watching Kill La Kill more than once, and I like to think the hype's died down enough, but I still worry. Doesn't help that the DVDs aren't cheap, either.
  11. I'm only starting to feel comfortable around the word "waifu" again. There's still a lot of apprehension on my part, however.

An incident made me turned off from the mere mention of the word. I went from proudly calling Amitie my "waifu" to refusing to call her such because I felt like I'd be insulting her doing so. I still adore her, but as you can see, that's exactly why I stopped. I still kinda feel like calling her my waifu is more insulting her than anything.

  12. I hate the Pokemon anime, at least after the first couple of arcs; personally, I view the animation these days to be shoddy, and the storytelling shit. Though I admit, I haven't watched any of the X & Y episodes, and I'm hearing some say it's improved, though some others say not so much...but quite frankly, even if the former were true, I've been so thourougly burned off the anime for years that as far as I'm concerned, it's too little, too late. But many still find enjoyment out of it, and I respect that. Likewise, I loved Lupin the 3rd: The Woman Called Fujiko Mine, mainly due to the storytelling, the animation amd the characters. But not everyone like the darker tone or the nudity, or even get past said nudity. But that's okay, that's how they feel. Now, unfortunately, popularity does play a part in whether or not a series continues, so it is unfortunate when one series that's bad can continue forever while a good one is lucky if it gets so much as a movie to conclude things. But opinions are opinions; the Pokemon anime wouldn't be running right now if not for people who like it, and I feel the Woman Called Fujiko Mine ended where it was intended to. That is how I feel.
  13. I'll admit, if anuthing, anime or otherwise, is hyped, I'll have my doubts. A bunch of games were hyped up immensely, only to be disappointments. I tend to just ignore hype, especially these days when I've been burned one too many times by those I once admired.
  14. I'll assume you mean our avatars? 7/10. Looks good enough, though it's a tad grainy.
  15. Been pre-ordering from RightStuf lately. I would pre-order from Amazon if not for one moment of a screw up combined with my brother's horror story regarding a particularly bad screw-up, in which they cancelled an order, meant to be a Christmas present for our other brother, without even bothering to ask about it. It was a limited edition item, too. Basically, they assumed he got the order wrong (since he had his own copy), so they cancelled it. Since it was limited edition, it completely ruined my brother's idea for a Christmas present, since by the time he'd be able to fix it, it'd be double the price. Like I said, they didn't even bother to ask him. Needless to say, they lost hundreds off him even debating whether or not he'd go back to them at all, and even when he decided to order from them again, it was with the vow to never pre-order from them ever again. He even went as far as to tell the guys at his local GameStop about the incident, and that he'd pre-order games from them from now on. People had different experiences, but my brother's had good ones there so far. My own story came from a screw up regarding a graphic novel. They delayed the order, claiming the book itself was delayed...even though one look at the publisher's website showed no such thing, and even said it was already out. I cancelled the pre-order, ordered it from the publisher's site, and got it before Amazon claimed it was supposed to be released. This was before my brother told me his horror story. That's not to say I don't order from Amazon; only that I only order things that have already been released there. Pre-ordering from them is not on my list of smart ideas, and hasn't been for a long while.
  16. I have the PS4 version. Sadly, it's one of those games in my ever increasing backlog. Hopefully I can get to it at some point.
  17. Very angry to where I'm planning on going to a different job. Nothing's concrete yet, so I'm not leaving this one, but damn...

  18. The name made me think "are you that oblivious?" I really do think they could have picked a better title, context Or not. The premise...well, people have managed to make much stranger ideas work, so I could see it being good or bad. I'll keep an eye on it, I suppose.
  19. Happy late birthday, Optic! Hope you enjoyed it. What was I gonna type? Oh, right, I thought of something. You see my favorite character, Amitie, right? And the HDN series as a whole presumably have your favorites. Why do I bring them up? I just realized that Amitie and Nep-Nep essentially rose from the ashes of the same company, Compile, albiet in different ways.

      SurrealBrain

Basically, Amitie came from Puyo Pop Fever, part of the Puyo Puyo series, which once belonged to Compile, while HDN was made by Compile's successor, Compile Heart. Funny how there's these coincidences, eh?

    2. Optic

      Optic

Thank you. Ahh interesting?stuff! Compile Heart IMO have really gorgeous character designs as a whole. My only reference though is HDN and Date a Live though.

  20. Usually by the time I start watching a series, it's been on home video for a while. So I suppose you could say I wait until a while after they've finished; when the DVDs/Blu-Rays are out.
  21. If I couldn't moderate my own forum well, I don't see how having me involved would help. Even if that weren't an obstacle, work time certainly is. Not to mention I got friends in other places I gotta look out for. Combined with all I've been through, I'm not sure I could do it without either being lazy or lashing out at people for the most minor of things.
  22. Studio Ghibli. The animation quality and the wonderful stories show a strong love and respect for the art that is rarely seen in anime...no, in animation as a whole. They've created many wonderful worlds, and many great characters, and I can't be happier. TMS is a close second, based on what I've seen of Lupin the 3rd. From Green Jacket and The Castle of Cagliostro (both of which Miyazaki worked on, by the way) to The Woman Called Fujiko Mine, they're usually ahead of other studios. The latter has some of the best animation I've seen in any anime, or cartoon for that matter. In many cases, Lupin the 3rd has had creative teams that have shown respect for the art as well. Not all of them, sure, but that just makes those who did stand out more.
  23. I'm sorry if I'm taking things so...personal. I suppose I'm a bit too worried about stuff.

  24. Unfortunately, where I live there is no anime shop. In fact, we're lucky if the resale shops get even a VHS anime. I do go out of town every once in a while and go to an FYE. They're overpriced, but they're usually the only ones I can get to.
