It may seem a bit early to make this thread, but given what was announced this morning, and how it's going to be updated until E3, I think it's fitting to begin the hype now: http://gematsu.com/2017/05/geoff-keighle...iseum-2017 Also here are the times for all known press conferences as of this point and time: http://gematsu.com/2017/05/sony-e3-2017-...et-june-12 The E3 coliseum is basically another set of conferences open to the public, and while it's not known if we'll get any info that won't be at other conferences, the fact is, people can come to these without being a part of the press or an investor. Also, they will be live streamed so if anything new is shown, you won't have to miss it if you don't go. Of course that means these will need a schedule with all that's in play for the Coliseum, that's likely being taken care of. So thoughts anyone? Let's get the E3 hype going!

With that in mind, combat was for sure not great then. Any game that hampers movement in a 3D space, which should be easy enough if you can walk or run to any place outside of it, is not great. The story on any game that does that can be great, Symphonia is proof of that, but I just, almost lost interesting the series over that kind of a set-up.
-
I'm down so long as it's not early in the morning. I'm rarely up before 10 AM because my last job had me working past 1:00 AM and I'm just stuck on that right now. Anytime in the late morning or the afternoon would be good though. If we really do Your Lie in April, I'll have to deal with some scenes that I never enjoy in and form, but I'll deal with it. This idea sounds too fun to miss. I've never taken part in a watch along before.
-
That depends, did Tales of Graces still use the Symphonia combat in the way that you could get trapped in a spot and not able to get around your enemies were they to surround you? I forget what the first game that stopped doing that was, but I'd say if it did then no. Any game in the Tales series where you could get cornered in what was a literal circled arena loses points in combat where I'm concerned.
-
Agreed, all fronts.
-
I just, I mean that's one hell of a way to introduce yourself. I got a good laugh out of that. Anyways, to actually answer the question, because I'd be an ass just posting that and leaving, pretty much anyone from the Hyperdimension series has potential, depending on what you like.
-
I think you're right on that, but I don't see a problem with it. the game found ways to make the combat difficult and fun, while actually given a lot of story purposes behind it other than, "do that to save town A" which is nice because there are a lot of games that didn't that around the same time, so even if the fighting wasn't perfect, the drive to fight to me at least negated most of the complaints. Fighting Alvin as Jude is one of the best story driven battles I've ever seen, and I actually thought Alvin was going to kill Leia there while she defended Jude. Regardless of the combat system, the story telling was fantastic. I still remember everyone in that game so well, and the sequel was also really good which only helps the credit of the first. Sequel's are hard to sell because of the new characters, but but old and new blended really well in Xillia 2.

You know what's odd with DBZ, it's that back in the day, that was about the only anime we had available so everyone treats it like it's a good intro to anime as a whole, and that's just not true. I mean for starters, the first Dragonball series is better for that because it's not as over the top, and more than that, DBZ set the standard for anime in the late 80's and 90's so it's not the most refined version of the tropes used from it that later shows borrowed. It also doesn't help that the first dub of the show was made at a time when acting well wasn't as important it was later on, and even the funimation dub saw some of the actors taking awhile to really fit in the shoes of the characters they were playing. Yu-gi-oh has it's over the top moments for sure, but by and large it makes more sense than DBZ, or at least it's easier to process.

Well we can add another game to the list because Sony just announced a new title called Perception which is an Indie Horror game. It's kind of hard to really grasp what's going on in this game, but I really think that's the point. It releases May 30th.
-
Did it for March, did it for April, and now it's May's turn as this month comes to a close. If you haven't seen one of these lists before, basically I talk about the games coming out for the next month including release date, what systems their on, and a little bit about what we know about them. The games are talked about in the order they release. The Caligula Effect, releasing for PS Vita May 2nd. The game is about a character that you play as who has come to realize that he's been trapped in a world with several others, and seemingly is planning to escape but not without facing opposition. The gameplay is that of an action RPG. That said, despite the fact that this game is being published by Atlus, I'd be weary of it. First off, digital only games on Vita take up a lot of space, and this one seems to have some serious frame rate issues. The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky the 3rd, releasing for Windows on May 3rd. This game is probably a safer bet if you want a JRPG at the start of the month. It's a port from a game that released 10 years ago in Japan so it shouldn't have any technical issues. It is the third game in a trilogy of title, hence the name, so it would be difficult to try and play the game from here, but if you have played the other two, it should be great. Prey, releasing on PC, Xbox One and PS4 on May 5th. This is a sort of spiritual successor to previous Prey titles where you find yourself on a ship fighting monsters that can transform into pretty much anything. The demo for this game released just yesterday on all intended platforms so if you want to check it out for yourself, you can. I will warn you however, despite Bethesda's keeping quiet about it, it does seem very likely that they found a way to bully the company that originally made these games into giving them the rights to make their own version, so you might be supporting a rather unsavory bunch in the industry by buying this game. World to the West, releasing for PC Xbox One PS4, and Wii U on May 5th. This charming little indie title is a top down action game MOBA of sorts as you can play as multiple different characters with varying abilities. It was really hard to find much more info than that, but there is a gameplay trailer if you want to check it out on Youtube. Birthdays The Beginning, release on PC and PS4 May 9th. This Indie title being brought over from Japan is a world building game that allows you to create environments like Jungles and Forests and inhabit them with wildlife that will live off the land you build and it has a predator/prey dynamic as well. Again, not much else is known about this game, I couldn't even find an English trailer for it despite it being ported to the West. It was a fairly quick port as well since the game only released in Japan in January of this year, but it might be worth checking out a gameplay trailer if it sounds interesting to you. LocoRoco Remastered, releasing on PS4 on May 9th. This remaster of a PSP game is all about collecting items using basic platforming and PSP/PS4 motion controls. The game is very simple and probably lacks much of a story, but it's on the charming side of things so if you like games like that, it might be worth checking out. Strafe, releasing on Windows May on 9th. This game was delayed back in March until this date. If you like gory corridor shooters, this is the game for you. Not much is known about the story, but hey, it's basically a slightly more modern looking version of Doom, so it should be fun. Injustice 2 , releasing on Xbox One and PS4 on May 16th. A lot should be known about this game, although not so much on the story details. It's a 2D fighting game with DC superhero's, an evil Superman, and the ability to upgrade your characters as you unlock pieces of equipment for them. Supposedly, the many different kinds of equipment should lead to a lot of varied play styles, but we'll see how that plays out. Operation Babel: New Tokyo Legacy, releasing for Windows and PS Vita on May on 16th. If you like futuristic style games with a Dungeon crawling aspect much like the Etrian Odyssey games by Atlus, this game should be right up your ally. In this RPG, you'll be playing as the Xth Squad, a band of warriors who intend to fight off a new threat to human kind while looking for a mysterious item called The Embryo. Not else is known about the game in English, but it released in Japan in 2015 so there's plenty of information about it if you want to take the time to look. The Surge, releasing for PC, Xbox One and PS4 on May 16th. If you like Dark Souls/Ninja Gaiden, you'll love the gameplay here, although you won't be in nearly the same setting. Instead you'll be running around areas in a mech suit and fighting various tough enemies who are preventing you from progressing. The story of the game hasn't really been talked about too much, but for Dark Souls fans, it should be a good bet to try it out. Bokida: Heartfelt Reunion, releasing for Windows May 17th. I'm not really sure how to describe this one. It seems, based on gameplay and what little story I could find to be about a sort of balance of Yin and Yang which is a part of the game in that you will be either destroying or building various things in order to progress. The best way to understand it, is to go look at a trailer, it's truly a rather odd looking game. Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia, releasing for 3DS on May 19th. This is remake of the second game in the Fire Emblem series which never made it to the West called Fire Emblem Gaiden, is a bit more like the anime it's based on, but only a bit. The story is basically that two sibling Gods began to wage War among each other until peace was found and the land split between the two of them. In the game, you play as Alm and Celica who are fighting to regain peace in the lands as war has risen again. If you've played or seen a Fire Emblem game, you have a general idea of this strategy game plays out, but this one is slightly different in that you move in dungeons and basically have wild encounters that play like the typical Fire Emblem. There will be two Amiibo that come out the same day as the game featuring Alm and Celica but I'm not sure exactly what they'll do for the game, or if the previous Amiibo will do anything for it either. Darksiders: Warmaster Edition, releasing on Wii U on May 23rd. This is, I think, a late port of the remastered version of the game releasing on the system. Disgaea 5 Complete, release for Nintendo Switch on May 23rd. The complete edition of the game, which will have everything the game did upon it's final update on previous systems, this strategy RPG is nothing new for fans, but a first on a Nintendo hone console. Utawarerumono: Mask of Deception, releasing for PS4 and PS Vita, on May 23rd. Another game Published by Atlus, this remake from the PS2 and PSP is also yet another strategy RPG. It released back in 2002, and even managed to get a Manga and Anime made about it three years later. The animation in the game, is very impressive, but I am unaware of the story. There's plenty of gameplay to check out though if you are so inclined. Friday the 13th: The Game, releasing for PC, Xbox One and PS4 May 26th. This game was delayed after difficulties getting the console version cleared for release arose, and this release date only happened a few days ago when a new trailer was released. The game is basically about several camp counselors trying to escape from Jason before he kills them. There are several ways to escape such as driving out, calling for the Police and running out of the map, and simply trying to outlast him before time runs out. Jason has counters to most escape attempts though and since he isn't an A.I. player, it's not an easy feat to get away. Get Even, releasing for Windows, Xbox One and PS4 on May 26th. This Sci-fi Thriller sees you in first person perspective, trying to figure out what happened to someone, and maybe even yourself while being tracked down by people who want you dead. There is a shooting mechanic in this game so you can defend yourself, but ammo is likely in short supply. It's up to you to solve the mystery, and find out why you are in the position you are in the first place. Guilty Gear Xrd Rev. 2, releasing for PS4 and PS3 on May 26th. This Sony Exclusive Japanese fighting game in the latest in the 20 year history of the Guilty Gear franchise. This series is known for being harder than your average fighting game so be weary if this is the one that gets you started in the series. There's crazy backstories for this characters as well that will be good to know if the story mode continues it. RiME, releasing for Windows, Xbox One and PS4, on May 26th. This game, whose rights have been thrown around for a bit, causing delays and removing it from being a PS4 exclusive, is finally going to release this month on all platforms save for Switch, which will be getting a port at a later date for 10 dollars more than the price on other consoles. All the controversy aside, the game is a beautiful looking Indie title with some puzzle aspects thrown in. If you like games like Journey, Abzu, and even a little Ori and the BLind Forest, this game should be a blast. Star Trek: Bridge Crew, releasing for HTC Vive, Oculus Rift and PlayStation VR on May 30th. There's not much to say about this game, it looks like crap, and it seems like all you do is command a bridge on a ship in a Star Trek setting. The game does seem to have some multiplayer aspects to it, but it also seems like the kind of game where people are going to do what they want, and not work well as a team. Maybe I'll be wrong, maybe I won't, but either way, it's coming. Y's Origin, releasing for PS Vita on May 30th. Not much to say to here, the game is simply the handheld port of the Y's game that made it to PS4 back in February. Having played the game myself, I can say it's well worth it if you like the series and/or action RPG's. Don't Knock Twice, releasing for HTC Vive, Oculus Rift and PlayStation VR on May 30th. This horror game, which may or may not have anything to do with the movie, but a horror game it is all the same. In it, you seem to be trapped in a house for reasons unknown, and you need to do everything you can to escape while being hunted down by monsters. Not much else is known about the title. Battalion 1944, releasing for PC, Xbox One and PS4 on an undetermined date. That's right, this game has no confirmed release date, but the last known intended release date, was sometime in May of this year. Not much is known about this first person WWII multiplayer shooter other than that, as the development team scarcely releases any new info on it, but hopefully we'll get something soon because the game is probably not releasing in May at this point. And that's everything. Quite a busy month, but I'll be honest, the only games I care about are RiME and Fire Emblem. Hopefully next month will look better as we head into E3.

Gonna have to call bull on that. Kor is the same guy that did his best to save as many people as he could, even if they tried to kill him at one point. That was the major reason he tried to save the world along with saving Kohaku and he did the best he could to try and wait until after things were settled and everyone was safe.

Persona 5 is a game fans have been waiting for, for years. I won't bother going into the same shtick about it we've all heard a hundred times, but it does seem and feel like it was long overdue. That said, the wait was well worth it, as everything from the characters, to the combat, to the style is utterly brilliant. You start off the game as an unnamed silent protagonist, who's current cannon name is Akira Kurusu, who was recently charged with assault, and forced to into probation and to move to another town to attend a school there. Very quickly after, you meet a few of the longest standing characters for the game and find yourself in the metaverse with one of them. The place turns out to be too dangerous for you and your new friend and you are captured, once it seems like you are both close to death, your character's power as a Persona User awaken, and the 100 hour+ adventure begins. From there you meet a cast of characters from various walks of life, who can become some of the best characters in any RPG, which is fitting given the long play time. Combat in Persona 5 is probably at it's best, and for the first time in years, it takes some actual effort to get new allies in the form of Persona's since you need to convince them to join you. The mechanic is done wonderfully, although it's a bit played down from previous Shin Megami Tensei games, as long as you are trying to recruit allies. That said, it's still fairly enjoyable and if you aren't looking to make friends but funds or items, as it works perfectly and each Persona says something interesting about their Palace leader when you send them on their way. Also worth mentioning, if you want to regain a former Persona, asking them to join you, or trying to get them to give you something will net you an option that makes it easy to get them back, in case you can't remember the correct choices you need to get them on your side. The style of the combat, the music, everything compliments itself perfectly to make what is not only the best combat in a Persona game, but possibly the best combat in Shin Megami Tensei. The story of the game is long, but very rewarding, especially towards the end. However as you trek to that long and well earned ending, you are greeted with a cast worth remembering who have some of the best stories that Persona has come up with in a long time, and it's not just playable party members either. Also, the romantic options are more widespread than before so if you want to try for someone outside of your school, or your usual age, that option is there for you, however even if you don't, every character with a voiced line is memorable in their own way and worthy of their time. Fans of the series will notice the little moments to when you meet minor characters with voices from games past. Newcomers will also have a lot to look forward to, as this is probably the best game to start with when trying to get into the franchise. If I have any complaint that might still stand, it's how part of the ending goes, but that's mostly made up for when you get to have several great character moments that take place towards the middle of it. Overall, the game isn't quite perfect, but there are so few flaws that it's hard to make a case for them, which is slightly ironic if you already know the story of Persona 5. Between great music, great characters, one of the best combat systems, and an ending that only the most cynical and heartless of gamers would have a problem with, Persona 5 does everything it needs to, to stand among the ranks of it's predecessors. My rating for the game is 4.8 out of 5. That in my opinion nearly ties it with Persona 4, and put it just ahead of Persona 3. The game is long, but it's time well spent, and I cannot encourage you enough to do it.
-
They all have their moments, like when Hisui stops being so protective of Kohaku and tries to get Kor to confess to her already, or for that matter when Kor finally steps up. Also Beryl is a bit annoying but she has her moment when you get to her hometown. Also, Kor is probably not even the biggest idiot in the Tales series, it's probably Luke and he's still one of the best protagonists of the series.
-
Xillia is my favorite as well. The characters are great, the combat I think is probably the best in the series until Berseria and the world is a lot of fun to explore. My favorite character is probably Jude Mathis, but my favorite cast overall is from Tales of Hearts R though. Tales of the Abyss is also really good in the regard.

I got a good laugh out of this thread lol.

Right now I'm playing Persona 5 and I'm nearly 90 hours in. I'm also playing Cosmic Star Heroine and Yooka-laylee.

What do you think of dakimakura (hugging) body pillows?
RepentantSky replied to Optic's topic in Anime Discussion
I have a hard time disagreeing honestly. It's fine you are a huge fan of a character and all, but if you practically groping their image on a pillow and are proud of it, that's just a little off-putting. -
We all remember the first anime we watch I'm sure. Some of us can probably even remember the world as we saw it at the time we watched whatever show our first was, but how many of us can say that our first anime was the best that came out that year? Honestly, I'd be interested to see of that's the case with anyone. So, with that in mind, what was your favorite anime that was released the first year you got into it? For me, it was probably Mobile Suit Victory Gundam. Back then, I liked a lot more action based anime, to the point where even though I'd seen every Studio Ghibli film that had been been released to the West at the time, I didn't like them even close to as much, and I mean, well, look at my avatar now. I guess that just shows how much we can change as we age.
-
For me, it was really only some of the Amiibo and some of the 3DS titles that caught my attention. The Switch stuff is okay, but I don't really like most fighting games or online multiplayer competition like Splatoon 2. It was an overall good direct, but I have to admit that I'm hoping E3 will be better.
-
First off for Nintendo 3DS, Hey! Pikmin, the 2D Platformer in the in Pikmin series was given a release date of July 28th along with a new Amiibo that has all the various types of Pikmin in varying positions around a rock. Ever Oasis, which was announced at E3 last Year got a release date of June 23rd. There will be no Amiibo for this title, but we did get some information regarding the relationship of the main character and a Water Goddess who will help you run and expand your Oasis, which is apparently the last one left in the world. After many concerns about whether or not it would be brought to the West, Monster Hunter Stories will be coming to the West sometime this fall. The game was fairly popular in Japan, and also got it's own anime which was well for itself as well. No exact date has been given yet, but with E3 not too far off, it's safe to assume we may have one soon. There are Amiibo for the game in Japan, but oddly they were not mentioned today. A brand new IP called Miitopia was announced and is quite a unique concept. Using your friends Mii's, as well as your own, you play as them and work on their relationships. Weaker relationships may cause in-fighting during the otherwise standard turn-based RPG combat, but stronger ones will yield positive results. The game is mostly meant to be comical but it still includes a job system of sorts so that along with the combat suggests there will be some parts you can take seriously. No release have been given as of yet, but plans are to have it release this year. Yo-kai Watch, really did get the Pokemon treatment thing down with the second game in the series, and while many thought the definitive version of Yo-kai Watch 2 (which is much like Pokemon Platinum, Emerald etc.) would never make it to the West. It is coming however and will include new missions, more story elements, the ability to befriend wicked Yo-kai which are different than standard Yo-kai and will give you a new area to explore as well as additions to the multiplayer co-op mode! The game releases as Yo-kai Watch 2: Psychic Specters this fall. If you are a fan of Box Boy, his final game is out today! If you're unsure about getting into the series just as it's ending, don't worry, demos for all three titles are also out today, so you can give it a go before jumping in. The Kirby Amiibo from the last Kirby title to hit 3DS, will give Box Boy new costumes, and if you have save data from the previous two titles, you can change the appearance of the game to make it look like it's being played on an original Gameboy. Taking a break from 3DS titles, we now get to some Amiibo. The long awaited Smash Bros Amiibo for Cloud, Korrin and Bayonetta got a release date of July 21st, but each will have a different version meaning there will be six new Amiibo for Smash Bros in total. Cloud will have Amiibo from both his original FF7 look to his look from Advent Children, Korrin will have both a male and female version, and Bayonetta will have versions from both games in the series. Certain Amiibo will only be available at stores though, so it might be difficult to track down all six if that's your plan. Not so Surprisingly if you were paying attention to Nintendo leaks, Zelda is also getting three new Amiibo, and all three of them are different versions of Link from previous titles. These Link Amiibo will be available June 23rd, and don't seem to be retail specific. Hal Labs has three new titles for Kirby coming to the 3DS. Team Kirby Deluxe is a free to start Kirby game based on working with three friends to battle monsters from the series and it out today. The Game is also an expansion of Team Kirby Clash, not a sequel if anyone was unsure. The remaining two games are slightly different, one is called Kirby Blowout Blast and is all about trying to suck in and launch foes in such a way that you take out as many enemies as possible in one attack. You can suck in multiple enemies at once for bigger attacks along 25 stages. This will be digital only title coming this summer. The final Kirby game is a Multiplayer action game that was given no title but is due for a 3DS launch this Holiday. This game will be physical and digital. Now for Switch news. Mario Kart 8 had a small update for us by letting us know that if you are able, there will be a racing and a battle tournament to be held for the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. Ultimate Street Fighter 2 actually got an Update as well, as two players will be able to Co-op against one AI sharing a health bar. There will also be a "handheld mode" for the game where special attacks will be on all corners of Switches screen and simply pressing them will activate the attacks. One has to assume this will only work when the system is out of the dock because it's still something new all the same. The game will launch May 26th Minecraft is making it's way to Nintendo Switch. There will 8 player online modes, and 4 player couch co-op modes for the game, that support Joy-con's and pro controllers. This version will also include a Super Mario mash-up pack that will allow for locations and from previous games to have their own Minecraft versions, and will allow for the parts to exist to create any size statues of Mario characters. The characters themselves will also be able to wear costumes from the Mario universe. This version with the Mario Bros mash-up pack, will launch on May 11th for the Eshop, and at retailers at a later, unconfirmed date. Several Neo-Geo titles are coming to the Switch as well. Most people probably already are aware of this news, but it's interesting all the same and one of these titles, Samurai Showdown IV: Amakusa's Revenge will be on the Switch tomorrow. This was it's own story before the Direct, but Sonic Forces, which is a game where 99 percent of the Planet is already in Eggman's hand was mentioned today along with some new Gameplay and CGI scenes. We also learned that Eggman summoned Old-School Sonic for unknown reasons, and that another ally yet to be announced is coming as well. The game will be out on PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch during the Holidays this year. Sonic Mania which had been delayed a while back is set for release on the Switch this summer, so presumably, because it's not a timed exclusive, PS4 and Xbox One will be getting it around the same time. No exact release date has been confirmed as of yet though, so let's hope there will be no delays. A new IP for the Switch is coming called Project Mekuru is coming as well and is a 4 player competitive game where you need to claim as many tiles as possible on a board and knock your opponents out. Smashing places will also give you items to help you along. This will be an exclusive Eshop title coming sometime this summer. Fate/Extella is headed to Nintendo Switch as well. It's an action game like many as of late that play like Dynasty Warriors and will have several characters playable from the Fate series of games. The game will launch on July 25th. Disgaea 5 Complete is coming May 23rd but a demo will be launching sometime between now and then. Puyo Puyo Tetris now also has a Demo so if you want to play it before it launches in the next two weeks, you can give it ago. Monopoly is coming to Nintendo Switch. This version will have new rules, and also allow players to set their own rules. Up to six people will be able to play, and you will be able to unlock new boards to play on. It also seems like some DLC for the game might be on the way to add even more variety but that not only wasn't said directly, but it's unclear if that does happen, whether or not it will be paid or not. Only time will tell, as this game is set for Launch in the Fall. Rayman Legends will have a few exclusive features such as the ability to link up consoles for Co-op mode and to set up tournaments in the soccer minigame. No release date was given here either, but it is expected to launch this year. THQ Nordic has two titles coming to the Switch. One is a bullethell sort of game called Sine Mora EX and will include co-op and versus modes. The game is set for release in Summer of this year. Next up is Battle Chasers: Nightwar, a game based off of the comicbook Battle Chasers. It's a traditional looking Turn-based RPG and is a timed Exclusive for Switch launching late this Summer. Payday 2 is coming to the Switch. Much of the content already in the game will come with launch Edition of the game later this year. Namco Museum will be coming this Summer to Nintendo Switch and will include a host of old-school single and multiplayer titles. A limited number of Switch docks on their own will be coming to retailers and Nintendo's own website May 19th, allowing you to play the system on a different TV without having to unplug the system's cords from whatever TV you use the most often. Arms showed off a new character named Minmin as well as several new combo's of Arms that can be equipped to all fighters to allow for many different styles. There was also a two versus two mode confirmed for the game, and it releases June 16th of this year. Splatoon 2 will have a new mode called Salmon Run where up to 4 players fight together on a small boat like area fighting against various Salmon type enemies. These new foes will have special enemies that drop golden eggs which can be used to get special items in the game. Three new Amiibo of Inkling Girl Inkling Boy and Inkling Squid are also releasing and befriending the characters that come with them will help you get special clothing items. The game and the Amiibo will launch July 21st of this year. And that's pretty much everything. What are you most excited for? For me, I'm just super happy to see those Amiibo and that Monster Hunter Stories is coming and Ever Oasis has a release date. So much good coming.

http://comicbook.com/anime/2017/04/06/naruto-bleach-animator-kazunori-mizuno-passes-away/ Mizuno-san was only 52, and apparently passed away in his office when he went to take a short nap. It's unclear if he died due to exhaustion from the rough working condition animators in Japan have, or if it was from other causes. Kazunori Mizuno had done animated works for Akira, Yu Yu Hakusho Naruto and Bleach to name a few over the last 30 years. He even did the animation directly for the 10th opening of Bleach. Co-workers and colleagues took to twitter to share bits about working with Mizuno-san and to mention some of their favorite works by him. He will be sadly missed.

Who are your favourite anime characters with green hair?
RepentantSky replied to Optic's topic in Anime Discussion
You should for sure give it a go. It's amazing as all get out. One of the best anime I've ever seen, and D. Gray-man Hollow is without a doubt the best 12 episodes of anime I have seen since the first series. -
Why SAO: Ordinal Scale makes no sense

Ordinal Scale works like SAO, plain and simple. It Ordinal Scale looks like SAO, even the action is the same, which is odd enough and honestly another flaw because that's like telling the viewers that Dynasty Warriors plays like Final Fantasy XV. Point is, we only need one battle to get an idea of what little differences there are between it, and well, everything but ALO because it's exactly the same without flying. You can't justify spending all this time with Kirito fighting against AI either, that was literally there to add to the run time of the film. You never mentioned anything about that either, so I assume you must agree. Even if I accepted that, there's still some huge flaws in that logic, namely that Nervegear wasn't designed to be fatal unless it's overloaded, that was a huge reason why SAO was available to sold to the public in the first place, because it was considered safe. Also, how does that cause death? We are lead to believe that the drones, which by the way a government would never get approval to have all over the place like that, somehow coming together makes the overload happen, but it's not explained how, even though all we would need would be a sentence or two telling us that they are wireless and that's how they are connected. I can give that maybe he was trying to excuse himself to Kirito, but that doesn't explain why he, or any of the thousands of survivors of SAO didn't start feeling like they were being set up to be trapped when they were given free Augma, and free tickets to the concert at the end. After it was made clear that SAO survivors were being attacked and having their memories wiped, that should have been obvious. Kirito and the gang have solved more difficult mysteries than that. Hell, it was Kirito being smarter than that which got all the survivors out of SAO in the first place. Yuna's death doesn't make sense because there were a few different ways that her data could have been fine, she mostly dies because she was connected to the monster they went all video game on, and she easily could have been backed up somewhere to prevent the death. There was a character in Dot Hack, which by the way, SAO borrows quite a few elements from dot hack, named Aura who was so well backed up that she survived having the game she was in practically melted in a fire, then having it made almost completely from scratch, before the sequel game, which she was in was discontinued only to show up in a third game with a third set of servers she had to be a part of somehow. Yet because anime movies based on, or around, anime shows that existed first, have to have a character show up just for that movie so they can die for dramatic effect, Yuna was not backed up in any way, shape or form, even though this is the same anime where Kirito managed to back up Yui all on his own in one of the most bullshit ways ever. No, Yuna could have been saved, but they needed a dramatic death, so there you go. Asuna may have been a skilled fighter, and several of her fights may have been without Kirito, but her most difficult fights he was there for. Despite the anime attempting to put weight on other parts of the show that might matter as much as they did in SAO, nothing can hold a candle to literally being made to fight for your lives for years at such a young age. If she had showed any signs of being a bit weaker but getting past it and doing what she needed to regardless, I would have been fine with it, but that didn't happen either. Also, the relationship with Asuna is flawed. Kirito nearly cheats on her all the time, which gives her the one note of being the jealous type, and also sees her out of the picture a lot. The anime wants me to feel for them as a couple, but a few moments here and there since SAO make that really hard to believe, even more so because Kirito has had many similar moments with other characters, devaluing the ones he had with Asuna. If the harem hadn't existed as a way to try and get people to keep coming back to the show because of all the attractive women, despite the fact that most are too young to be ogled at for most if not all of the series, and the relationship with Asuna and Kirito was focused on instead, and those characters that were part of the harem were instead multi-note characters who weren't defined by either being a part of the haren or not, I would care more, but that's not how that plays out at all. I don't give a damn about Asuna and Kirito, because the show and movie only do when they need an excuse to the romantic fix so many anime fans want in their shows. As for the animation, thankfully my counter for that is much shorter, Tales of Zesteria the X, is a TV show, not a movie. Ever since before I was born, animated films have had a bigger animation budget than animated TV shows, therefore there's no excuse that can be given for an animated TV series, to look better than an animated movie that comes out around the same time. Do you know how many years it took for an animated TV show to look better than Snow White? I'll give you Your Name, sure, but there's no excuse for a TV show that comes out at the same time as movie, to look better than a film, ever. That has not happened since even once save for straight to DVD or TV films. -
Why SAO: Ordinal Scale makes no sense

I doubt I misunderstood anything, but rather than dislike my post and come off as angry, why don't you explain it me as you saw it, and see if you can't convince me a bit. I'm not like most people, If I'm wrong, I'll man up to it. I won't watch it again unless I'm given a good reason though, so why not try and give me that reason.
