Thanks.  Up until a couple hours ago I was under an evacuation warning (meaning, pack the car and be ready to go, but ok to stay for now) but it has been lifted now and the electricity is back so I'm taking a breath while I can.  More "red flags" - high winds plus ultra low humidity - in the forecast for this weekend but for now I'll take what I can get.

My boss lives in Pasadena only a block or three from the "Eaton" fire.  His mom's was one of the houses burned down in nearby Altadena so he may not be in next week.  (She's ok but the house is gone.)  JPL had been evacuated like everything else in Pasadena and completely shut down but now that the evacuations have been rescinded they're rebooting and dusting everything off to get things going again.  I'm not sure if things will be ready for us to go back to work next week or not though.  Got a text this afternoon saying that people who are able should plan on working remotely for at least next week.  Rather difficult to do without power and like I said, there's likely to be more "red flag" weather over the weekend and into early next week.  Considering calling my aunt over in Ventura and visiting her for a week.  :)

Still quite a lot of recovery to do on many fronts.  I spent the last few hours after power came back cleaning the ash and soot that's covering everything like a layer of snow.  Not complaining tho.  At least I still have a house to clean.

Glad your electricity is back on that's a blessing at least. Altadena looked really bad I've been seeing a lot of videos come out of there 🙁

Got a bit of shopping done for the next week early this morning, finished my tidying up of the closets I had started, finished some other house chores, and now I'm sitting down to enjoy relaxing for the rest of my afternoon and evening.

I had a great day out with @Zeref today playing in the snow, getting some coffee, doing our shopping, we walked down by the river front in the snow and just had a great day ^^

I took some pictures of it that I'll post later ~

Right now I'm just hanging out and talking to @Forlorn on the phone and probably annoying him lolll

I woke up earlier this morning but only played on my phone for a few minutes before I went back to sleep until almost 4pm. Then I laid on the couch half-napping while watching anime the rest of the day and fell asleep several times. I did get up a couple of times to eat some food but the majority of the day I've done nothing and felt like doing nothing

Nothing wrong with a stay in bed day

goodness gracious.  that is hellishly cold,  O___O;;;

And our school administration makes no sense because sometimes they will call off school for at home classes when the weather is in the teens, then other times when it's in the negatives they will be like, nope, everyone come in for school so we can watch you suffer :V

The decisions of school admins rarely make any sense or have any logic behind them.

But back when I was at school there was no internet so we had no choice, whatever the weather we had to go in to school. There was also no easy way of contacting all the pupils as there were no mobile phones and some people didn't even have a land-line phone.

My sister's told me the legend of the fabled "snow days" from back in ancient times of her days, when no internet school existed and kids would be free from school for the day. How they would watch the morning news hoping to see their school and praying it would be called off that day so that they could run out into the streets and celebrate with their friends 😮‍💨 I feel scammed that I've never gotten to have this experience.

Existing in a world before TV or phones to know it was called off sounds as bad as the experience I'm having. We've both missed out on the 80s, 90s and early 2000s kids legendary snow day.
