Hope you get to feeling better @Eris

Ngl I'm a little scared atm, there's a lot of thunder/lightning and I don't like those e.e I've been wrapped up in my blanket hiding in Pessi's room like I'm 5 or something 😭 lolll

At least you had Pessi there with you. I hope it stopped quickly and you felt better.

I'm sick today. It's not a major thing but I just feel bad and I've been in bed all day.

Get better soon.

As for me today I feel good. I had a nice day out and it's been peaceful and I've gotten some things done I wanted to get done.

Feeling a bit apprehensive about Monday's stock market.  Moody's was the last of the rating agencies to downgrade the US's credit rating (to Aa1 from Aaa).  We're already having trouble finding enough people to buy our debt and we've got $6T to roll over here in another couple months!  Any increase in interest rates and the debt service costs go up.  Not that we can pay them even at current rates given revenues (aka taxes).

Everybody keeps saying "don't worry about it, the rest of the world is even worse off than we are".  I'm worried.  Short of a formal default on US debt the only way to make the math work out is extreme inflation.  At this point that's at least a guaranteed recession.  If Congress can't stop spending (I'll take the over on that one) then it could get even worse.  The higher inflation expectations get the higher yields have to go to get people to loan you money.  Nobody wants to loan you money at 5% when inflation is going to lose them 10% or more.

At the risk of dating myself, I graduated HS in '82 so I was there to watch 30-year mortgage rates climb to over 18%.  Even yields on 10 year US treasuries went over 15%.  (Speaking of unaffordable housing, imagine trying to find a place to live on a $6/hr wage and 15%+ mortgage rates.  Mortgages didn't go below 10% again for over a decade.  Minimum wage was only $3-something/hr.  But I digress.)  Back then people lost half of their savings to inflation.  Half their incomes too, assuming they could even find a paying job.  People on fixed incomes were losing their homes due being unable to pay their property taxes.

That was in fact the era that created the term "stagflation".  Now I'm getting deja vu all over again.  Not enthusiastic about reliving that era, especially at my age.  Bad enough when I was in my 20s and could eventually make it all back.  We may be headed there again and I'm too old to start over this time.  :(

Actually getting a little tired ~ I'm going back to Chicago tomorrow and I kinda don't want to.. not to say I don't wanna see my sister lol we have some fun stuff lined up to do like going to see the new Final Destination movie but I really don't want to leave home again and I'm not even sure that's best for me right now.

Leaving home, coming back home and then leaving home again and having to keep adjusting to different surroundings can be unsettling. But at the same time a change of surroundings can also be beneficial. You should think it over carefully and decide what's best for you.

You don't have to stay long just do what we talked about and dad will be okay with it. I think after we talked it's better you stay home too.

I've kinda planned to just go for 3-4 days then come home. My dad's still too worried about me so I can't really not go but I don't have any intention of staying for the Summer like he wants.

Dads have a tendency to worry about their children, it sort of goes with the territory of being a dad, but if you talk things over with him and explain that you'd really feel much happier in your own home he should be OK with that.

Yup hopefully that works lol

Sucks that you don't wanna go and have to but your dad's a pretty chill dude. If you let him know how you're feeling he should let you go back home.

Ya that's kinda the idea so hopefully that works ~

I'm hoping that's how it goes lol as nice as it is to visit here I really want to go back home ~ like i'd be fine with moving back here if that happens but I'd rather be in my own bed with my things and quiet.

Being around family 24/7 gets exhausting so I feel where you're coming from.
