  1. My two favourite characters for Attack on Titan would have to go towards Levi and Mikasa. Both are really cool characters with exceptional strength and skill. I particularly adored Mikasa though due to her strong willingness to protect Eren. @Aynami - since you wrote a nice fun thread, I'll add a fun picture below.
  2. I'm in Australia with an ISP called Internode. On their 100/40 Mbps, 500 GB NBN plan - (via Fibre to the premises) They're not the cheapest but I'm really happy with the quality of the network and their support is great - though arguably if they're good in the first place you shouldn't need to call support regarding faults unless you need technical setup assistance. Previously I was on an old ADSL2 plan (using copper on the telephone line) that was 20/1 Mbps. Whilst the download was OK, the upload was a killer for uploading large files and when sharing it with multiple people..
  3. How are you going? :)

Hello Optic-senpaii! I'm doing good fine and well, thank you =)

  4. This was a great opening episode which ended with a bang with the station falling. The combat scenes against the Kabane (super zombies) are great! Lots of blood splatter and very fluid animations. Mumei's debut was well done too. A bit undecided on Ikoma but so far really liking the series.
  5. Due to having been spoiled with beautiful animation from more modern titles, to this day I personally would find it difficult to watch really old anime TV series... such as the first Mobile Suit Gundam series that came out in 1986. Haven't seen it and probably wouldn't go out of my way to watch it unless it was recommended to me - SEED, Unicorn and Iron Blooded Orphans are the current Gundam series I have enjoyed. The earliest anime TV series I ever saw was Neon Genesis Evangelion which came out in 2006 which I still love up to this day. Although the animation wasn't overly great (it did have budget issues) it was definitely a game-changer at the time. Hayao Miyazaki movies would probably be the exception for me. Though they are older anime movies with less than stellar animation due to their age - they usually have very very touching plots, worlds and characters. I especially enjoyed Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind (1984) and Laputa: Castle in the Sky (1986). So to answer the question, well it really depends. Some animation holds up well, but I think at the end of the day it really comes down to the characters, plot and world that is potrayed. As much as I really love high quality animation, especially for combat scenes it certainly isn't a dealbreaker.
  6. Perhaps too many titles for me at the moment... a mix of currently airing titles and some older titles which I was really yearning to watch for a long time. Elfen Lied Assinsation Classroom 2 Macross Frontier Asterisk War S2 Dog Days S2 Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress Kuromukuro Joker Game Monthly Girls Nozaki-kun Tokyo Ghoul A Certain Magical Index The Familiar of Zero Kill la Kill I am ESPECIALLY loving Kabaneri, Joker Game, Kill la Kill and Macross Frontier at the moment. The worlds they portray really draw you in. Macross Frontier piqued my interest because the composer of the soundtrack is by Yoko Kanno - who did the same soundtrack for Zankyou no Terror and Ghost in the Shell. It definitely doesn't disappoint, nice and surreal and dynamic. Great Space/Sci-Fi with a bit of mecha too and great characters despite being released in 2008...
  7. Ah... they're pretty good most of the time. I suppose what bothers me is, if they're going to classify something, make it more consistent. Whilst Kill la Kill's plot does escalate as Ryuko fights higher and more tougher foes (even if the combat Kamuis are really skimpy), it just seems silly to classify the first eight episodes (Volume 1/2) as M, then classify the last few episodes as MA15+ and R18+ which essentially locks a 15 year old out from finishing the darn series because of that classification. I understand the volumes were released at different times but ehh, it just seems like a ridiculous scenario. Hook you in with the first few volumes then when it gets released, bam! R18+ More consideration should be given to the previous volumes IMO.
  8. Ehh, I do agree Angel Beats wasn't long enough. Would've liked to see all the characters get more episodes dedicated to them. If this was the same length as Little Busters (2x 13 episode seasons) to give the characters more room to grow, to allow us to dive deeper into the backstory of all the characters this would've been better. As it stands Otonashi, Kanade, Yuri, Yui and Ishikawa kind of got most of the spotlight. What about Shiina and the other Girls Dead Monster members? As it stands that last OVA has still left a sour impression for me. Given the popularity of Angel Beats they know they can continue to trickle merchandise for it and it will sell well in Japan, as with most Key stuff. It would be nice to see another season... or maybe a reboot...
  9. Congratulations @Evil Bunny of Doom for winning this contest! @Ryuji, @Higanbana, @Angelic2004 - participation badges have been issued out to you all. Sorry for the delay.
  10. Japanese films in general just aren't great these days. When was the last memorable Japanese film you've seen recently? I have so many memorable Hong Kong and Chinese films that I can remember but very very few Japanese ones. So to me it's no surprise anime > Japanese live adaptations just aren't memorable for me at all. The Attack on Titan live action film was quite a let-down, poor pacing, over the top acting and sloppy animation for the titans. There was a great article I remember seeing on the Japan Times that had some really good points on the nature of the Japanese film industry. I'll have to dig around for it and link it here.
  11. I'm feeling Accomplished! In week 3 of my new job and although I was REALLY stressed in the first week, I think I'm finally starting to settle in. Although the hours aren't great, 8.30am to 5.00pm, Mon-Fri and just driving there one way takes a good 45 minutes even though it's only 30 km from my home... but in those 3 weeks I've learned pretty much a year's worth of stuff compared to my previous job so I'm very grateful for that.
  12. I feel that as we get older, we face more and more responsibilities and commitments across family, friends and of course your own survival - career, job security and money. Combined with the constant load of full time work and having less free time (for anime!!) these days I feel this has given me mild anxiety. I find I also get stressed easily, most likely due to all my current jobs relating to customer service in ICT. Most of the users I help out are quite good but at times perhaps I am too passionate and it hurts me when I can't solve their problem. If they feel frustrated I feel frustrated and upset too. I am doing my best to get this under control, as literally too much stress can start to make you physically ill. This is a great point. Indeed there is a lot of negative stigma around mental health.
  13. Oh gosh Disney songs... my favourite Disney song of all time would have to be....... A Whole New World from Aladdin. Beautiful song. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hZ1Rb9hC4JY ... PS Vita or Nintendo 3DS?
  14. Rest in peace. Lung cancer. *sigh* I absolutely loved her for the opening theme of Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Compex (Inner Universe). A strange mix of Japanese, Russian and Latin but really suited it well.
  15. Thanks for the feedback @Ryuji. I forgot to mention yes there is an option to disable it in Preferences here:
  16. Hello Toast, welcome to Anime Forums! Hope you enjoy your stay here. Ooooohhhhh. I'd be very curious to see it when it's ready. Will it have any distinctive features over other platforms? Another new open-source one that I've seen recently is Flarum.
  17. There was an issue with email notifications, now fixed. Apologies for any inconvenience!

  19. Hello everyone, Experimenting with a new feature! When browsing the forum sections, a snippet preview of the first post will now appear just below the thread title. Previously you had to hover individually, on each thread title to get the preview. Also thumbnails of recently uploaded images within the thread will also display under the snippet. Would love to know your feedback, whether you like it better this way or if you prefer to go back to the previous way of having thread titles. Let me know below, thanks!

    Hi!

Hello @Xyro Donatus , welcome to Anime Forums. Pardon my late welcome - hope you enjoy your stay here.
  23. I've now switched our outgoing email provider to improve deliverability - when you get a chance can you try a test password reset to see if it reaches your Outlook email?
  24. Hello @senshikoi, first of all apologies for my late reply to this. This was posted around the time I had started my new full time-job. :'( After a week yes, posts can no longer be edited. Originally it was set to 48 hours but based on feedback it was increased to a week. This change was made quite sometime ago - the intent behind it was to protect posts. If you would like a post edited beyond this time, please feel free to let me know and I can do this for you. To my knowledge no we did not lose any threads in the timeframe you mentioned. Having said that, many anime discussion threads were moved around with the introduction. Was there a particular thread you were looking for? Maybe I can assist in trying to find it?
  25. This episode made me happy and yes, it was a good and touching ending. Though I would have preferred a more violent end towards dodgy sensei after all his previous actions since episode one in all those other timelines. The lead-up with what appeared to be Satoru's apparant demise which turned to a counter-attack against dodgy sensei was totally misleading. Hiding the fact Satoru regained his memories earlier than what was shown. But at the same time, it was also the biggest highlight for me - because two of Satoru's classmates: Kenya and Kazu were able to help him out this time after all the good Satoru did when they were all younger. Airi blushing at the end was a nice touch. Though Satoru smiling at her like that might have been a little awkward for her? As in this timeline, the two haven't met at all as co-workers in that Pizza place?
