  1. I think either which is fine, since this isn't a roleplay. The character is merely to add flavor. Thanks for joining!
  2. It's that party game you know and love, Mafia! (also known as "Werewolf") The premise of it is quite simple: Each player is given one of two roles: "mafia" and "innocent". The goal is to figure out whom among you are the mafioso. Simple, right? Not necessarily, as here's where the game gets trickier. See, there were many variations of the game throughout the history of Internet forums. A famous one I know was a mix of roleplaying and mafia. It allows players to pick their favorite comic book character. The GM (game manager) would then describe in detail how each of the "mafioso" would kill the innocents (using those characters' various superpowers). In between the killings, the characters could also interact with each other in a fun multiverse storyline (this also helps them learn who the real mafioso or killer is). This version of the Mafia game was called "The Traitor Game". The problem with the above format is that it's a rather complicated RP to 'manage'. Because there are so many different characters from different stories, the GM would have to plan properly for the RP to accommodate all those characters with their various superpowers and backstories. This is usually where I messed up in my past attempts to imitate this because the convoluted nature made me abandoned the RPs. So, long story short, let's start simple with a forum game, not an RP. You can still pick your favorite characters and act or roleplay them out, but this won't be a real RP with a storyline. This is why I chose not to post this in the roleplay section. If this goes well, I might add more roleplay elements to the game in the next series, but for now, I don't want to jump the gun. I don't have the time right now to manage a full-length roleplay anyway. To refresh you on the rules: Rules For simplicity sake, I'll only assign one Traitor for this first game. If the Traitor's identity is discovered before the game is over, then I'll simply announce his identity and assign another one. After I've announced the beginning of the game, I'll contact the Traitor through a private message and ask which Civilian he/she wants to kill off. In the meantime, the Civilians will post a public vote in the thread whom they think is the Traitor. You will all have three days to cast a vote. Do note that the game will move on after these three days even if everyone hasn't submitted their vote yet. Also note that the Traitor hiding among the Civilians can also vote against Civilians as well. Place your vote by simply bolding and underlining the name you want to vote against, i.e.: Orius I'll count the list of names listed in such a fashion at the end of each voting session. At the end of each voting session, one person (and only one) will be cast off from the game. If there are the same amount of votes for more than one person, for example, there will be a tie-breaker (through the aid of a third party vote). Whether if the person with the most votes is a Traitor or Civilian doesn't matter - he'll be forced to leave the game all the same. After everyone has voted, I'll announce who is dead and whether if the exiled member is the Traitor... or a falsely accused Civilian. Rinse and repeat as needed till there are two people left. At which point, I'll announce who the real Traitor is. Small Detail About Playing A Character As I said, you're allowed to pick your favorite character and act him/her out like a roleplay. Doesn't matter if he's from an anime or not. How it works is that, while voting, you can add flavor to your dialogue while posting about whom you want to vote against. That's it. Whether you want to add a backstory to your character or not isn't necessary. Again, this isn't a roleplay, it's just a casual forum game with roleplay elements. There is no sign up form because it isn't needed. All you need to do is say you're interested and which character you want to play as. That's it. Hope to get at least 10 people to play, if not 5. 5. Satisfied. I had a good sleep. But at the same time, I just woke up, so I'm still kinda disoriented like I've just hopped back into Wonderland.

  8. Since I just watched The Interview... FWIW, it's a great Katy song that I don't mind singing to: https://youtu.be/QGJuMBdaqIw

  9. Admittedly, after seeing that Eminem interview, I might have hyped the movie up a little bit. For what's it worth, it was the best part, and still had me chuckling when I saw it in the actual film. That said, the rest of The Interview wasn't bad. It's just not the amazing and clever comedy that I had anticipated, a sentiment that's (ironically enough) not that different from the one held by David Skylark (James Franco) in the movie. The first thing you have to realize is... it's a Seth Rogen movie. If you've seen the movies he has starred in, you'll know what brand of comedy to expect - the juvenile kind. There will be tons of sex and poop jokes atypical of American comedies. It's also self-aware (of course it is), which means that it also knows exactly just how stupid the plot is, and it just embraces that goofiness for most of the movie with sincerity. There's a scene with Kim Jong-un riding in a tank with James Franco while Katy Perry's "Firework" is playing in the background, so if you're expecting some serious movie satirizing media influence over Cold War politics straight out of some Frost/Nixon inspiration, you're on more drugs than Franco and Rogen combined. That being said, I have to admit that I was kinda hoping to see some level of clever humor mixed in here. Oh well. Regardless of its superficiality, The Interview was a fun ride that doesn't take itself too seriously. An analogy I could think of would be a drunk roommate coercing you to cut loose and just have fun. There's a very light tone throughout the entire film even when the more dramatic character growth appears (and yes, there is a character arc in this, and quite a good one too). I really don't want to knock on this movie by criticizing it for being dumb and (god forbid) objectifying women, because it just doesn't really feel like that kind of shallow movie. It's still shallow humor, but it's just clever enough to get a pass from me. For example, there was a line about Agent Lacey (played by Lizzy Caplan - Janis from "Mean Girls"!) being too hot to be a government agent, and thus was probably hired for the sheer sake of seducing Dave Skylark. There was an immediate follow-up remark by Lacey about how that is sexism. The conversation was obviously made for comedic purposes rather than some critical commentary about feminism (again, wrong kind of movie, pal), but I feel just its presence alone (among other semi-witty dialogue) kept the film from feeling like just another frat-brothers movie that you watch with your bros while drunk and high. One thing I wish could've been done differently, however, is the intelligence of Kim in this film. He's such a pathetic idiot especially in his supposedly masterful manipulation that his "trick" and "propaganda" feels cheap and lazy. I wish the writers would have at least put in more effort into that so that I could at least have some level of surprise when the curtain was pulled away. In the end, The Interview isn't the "Tropic Thunder" of the decade. It's not some intelligent black comedy with a subtle political message. It's just a decently funny buddy comedy with a more controversial backdrop. As its TVTropes page would say, "It's so okay, it's average." ★★★
  10. Terminator 3 was an incredibly boring and pointless sequel... at least right up till the ending. The message of the first two films was that "there is no fate but what we make of ourselves," that we were masters of our own destinies and could change our lives however we like. The third film's ending sought to correct that by telling us to embrace our fate instead of fighting it. It's a fatalism perception that not many would agree with, but one that's nonetheless refreshing among time travel stories, where the hero successfully "fixes" the things in his life that went wrong; [spoiler=Steins;Gate and Back to the Future Spoilers]Okabe prevented Kurisu's death, Marty prevented his dad from becoming such a loser. It's a bleak ending that was pretty ballsy for the kind of movie T3 was, and that boldness just emphasizes further what a disappointment it was. It's like the studio put their entire creative effort on that ending alone. Regardless, I'm glad this ending existed. It reminds me how much I liked the bleaker, but more fatalistic endings the first Steins;Gate had as opposed to its "true end". Those endings had Okabe embracing his fate instead of messing around with forces beyond his control. It's a poignant message I wish more stories would dare approach, or at least explore.
  11. Weird question but... do you prefer to use a pair of scissors or penknife?
  12. More nostalgia spam! Aqua - Turn Back Time It's a shame Aqua didn't get remember for her more "serious" songs. Westlife - You Raise Me Up Ah yes, Westlife, the other forgotten boy band. It's a shame, because out of the three (Backstreet, Nsync, and West), Westlife is probably the most somber of them all. Westlife - Swear It Again S Club 7 - Don't Stop Movin' Can't believe I haven't mentioned S Club yet. "Don't Stop Movin' " was my favorite jam as a teen that kept me dancing. Hannah Spearritt was best gurl btw. She was so cute. Tina Barrett came close for me, what with her sexy tanned complexion and all. LeAnn Rimes - How Do I Live Con Air was such a cheesy movie. It has dated a lot as a popcorn flick and my score for it has significantly dropped over the years. That said, this song was easily the best part about the movie, a romantic and sappy tune that still retains that sweet emotional resonance. I could imagine this being in one of those melodramatic sad scenes in a drama I would used to cry to.
  13. Forgot to share my daily music of the day. Coolio (ft. L.V.) - Gangsta's Paradise: https://youtu.be/N6voHeEa3ig

But you're not a gangsta. Or are you.

  14. Don't take this the wrong way but... are Canadians as polite as people say? Would you know how it compares to Japanese politeness? Also, do you really have free medical service? Does it cause problems having such a free service, or is it helpful?
  15. What's the longest post or article that you've ever written?
  16. How much time do you have for forum-posting per day?
  17. I have a surprisingly fast speed (I thought it would only be about 50mb/s): But eh, still not as impressive as Ms. "I can't hold all these megabits" above.
  18. I avoided posting here because you'll probably not recognize the company anyway. It's Starhub. They also provide services for cable and phone (both mobile and landline). Their whole company's ideal revolves around connecting families together, whether through a phone-call or email. I'm currently under a contract with them for my Internet. It costs about $50/month and uses (I think) a fibre broadband service. I'm not really sure about the speed, but I'd guess it's about 50mb/s, maybe?
  19. Hmmmm... - Snog @zoop, since she (and @Cy~) are two of the few snoggable people I'm close with on AF. - Marry @Cy~. She's like the only other person who writes posts on AF as detailed and lengthy as me. I would honestly pick both snog and marry for her if I could... but life's not fair that way. - Avoid a lot of people. I tend to avoid people whom I'm not close to yet... whether out of shyness or the desire to avoid conflict and drama, I'll leave that to your discretion.
  20. Where were you hurtling from? I know you're perpetually hurtling towards Earth, but there's gotta be a start point where you began the hurtling... right?
  21. Hungry, and kinda disappointed that it's that time of day again when everyone's asleep with my side of the world being bright and early. I also think I'm entering that phase of anxiety again when my insecurities and paranoia come bubbling up. Hope I could keep it together. Other than that, I'm also feeling a bit cranky and impatient, particularly in regards to the limited time I have each day. So many things to do, so little time. Hope I'll wake up on the better side of the bed tomorrow.
  22. Oh my god, that opening! lol That was my favorite DC OP too. "Truth" was so intense and badass. It oozes classic Detective Conan, not the overly goofy tone it has today.
