What is something you're passionate about?

this is so random, which makes it so hilarious go giraffes! and homemade bread is fantastic! -
I don't think it's the best, but I thought of the recent anime Ancient Magus' Bride was a bit more interesting and, at least to me, quite different from the usual ones nowadays. Don't know, I felt that it all just works well in combination with the visuals etc. To me it kinda seems like a whole story packed into just over a minute. I guess if I were to make one myself, it would be similar to this I guess overall Neon Genesis Evangelion's has quite some backing among the anime fanbase generally

This week's episode was a bit unexpected I think. I did expect Deku to fight Overhaul but, well, not in this way The fight was decent but I don't know, it somehow felt 'rushed' in a way. I didn't really get Eri's quirk. Apparently she can 'rewind' someone's development? What was the whole evolution stuff though? They'll probably use her quirk to restore the others I guess. I really enjoyed hearing more about Overhaul's and Eri's past! What I didn't get was if Overhaul 'temporarily disabled' the old man and why exactly. Curious to see how this goes though, since I expect that Overhaul won't simply be captured.

I did play some stuff that might be considered horror, such as Resident Evil. That was more than a decade ago though. But I never really got the horror game vibe. When I was younger, it didn't really freak me out, and nowadays they do have some effect but I am not in the mood to be freaked out

This year is going to be quite a piece of work. My current position is running out in September, which means that I have to find a new position. The one I had so far was alright all things considered but it just didn't pay enough. I am writing grants to create my own position but it's quite a hassle. I do have a secure, low-paying, alternative if neither of my grants get through, nor I find another adequate position, but I have been trying to avoid this for over a year. Regardless of which of those I get, I will (have to) move which I am looking forward to (since there are a huge number of problems with my current place), and hope I'll find something decent this time (with neighbors that are not out of their minds). Might be that I'll even move to another continent. Currently I am looking into stuff in Europe (France/Germany/UK), North America and even Japan (for something between two and five years). Japan is still rather far-fetched but it is an option and I'll have to look into how probable it is. It might be a great experience though. So yeah, it all depends on what kind of job I'll get Hopefully once I'm settled in, I'll have some time for anime and other stuff in the last quarter of the year.

I just can't seem to find the time to read stuff besides for work. Something I have tried to do is to catch up more on non-Western literature. I did start reading some of Tolstoy but because I had too much on my hands I dropped it again. Once I get settled in with all the work stuff, I hope to continue it though What did you think of it? I'm considering reading this in the near future

I've actually seen Prometheus. What did you think of it? And let me know how it compares to Covenant. Don't have any plans watching something in the near future though (might make an exception for Weathering With You )

Hi there! Great thread title
-
Just caught up with Black Clover. It actually gets really decent from episode 100 onwards
-
Hi there! Yes, we need more Europeans around here So what are some of the anime you enjoy?
-
Finally caught up on the recent episodes. I did get why Nighteye thought that Lemillion should have been Allmight's successor, because they kinda have the same attitude. I enjoyed that they are getting to the main part of the season now, and Overhaul seems to be finally showing off his skill (who knew he could fuse with others). What I did find kinda strange about today's episode is how many people are supposedly killed, or almost killed. I kinda wonder how they are going to remedy it. I highly doubt that Overhaul is going to restore them all, at least not voluntarily. All this time I somehow expected Eri to heal them in a way, but this doesn't seem to be the case either. I wonder though, if she might be able to restore Lemillion's power? What bothers me a bit is that the others seem to be joining the fight now. I kinda wanted to see more of a Deku vs Overhaul, where Deku uses his full power. I mean, the episode title for next episode indicates as such but let's see.

Watching anime Seriously though, unfortunately I don't have much time, so I guess watching anime could be considered the only thing I really enjoy doing and have time for nowadays. But I wouldn't consider myself an expert on it, especially compared to elders here like @Ohiotaku -
Hi there! Shonen are great! With 26 you are around the average age of users here, we are all getting old People here are from all over the world, so it's great to see someone from Portugal as well!
-
definitely want to watch that one, but probably will have to wait until I have enough time for it and get it on Bluray
-
Hi there! People here are great and obviously enjoy anime I'm curious, what does your username mean?
-
How did you guys not mention Nichijou
-
This is one of those anime that I kinda really disliked. One major thing is what @Ohiotaku and @Wedgy mentioned, but even taking that aside it just wasn't my cup of tea. But I hear that many others think it's great.

I agree more with crunchyroll Although it's kinda difficult to compare them since one is just overall and the other is more according to genre. Naturally I wouldn't say that Naruto or Black Clover is a better sci-fi anime than Stein's Gate
-
Questions like these are usually difficult to answer because there are so many different genres. If we are talking anime overall that covers everything in a way I would say Naruto. For some reason I didn't enjoy Bleach (I watched 60 or so episodes). One Piece is also excellent but to me it seemed to lack the depth and thoroughness of Naruto, but have only seen a couple of hundred episodes so I can't say if that would be different if one looks at the whole thing. Naturally there are anime that are more comedic than Naruto, or others that are philosophical etc., but these usually are very specific anime that specialize in one certain aspect (such as comedy).

They didn't know what they were talking about Personally I think Naruto is one of the best anime of all time

What do you Dislike about Current Anime
Illusion of Terra replied to Illusion of Terra's topic in Anime Discussion
Concerning the whole fan service thing, I saw this and thought it was hilarious -
Finally got around to looking at some of them. I haven't read about all of them, but from what I've seen I thought these two seemed interesting Somali and the Forest Spirit Maybe also "Arte" which releases a bit later

Quite specific things you are looking for Generally I don't think there will be too many 'shounen-like' anime with around 5 seasons that are kinda similar to what you have mentioned. There are of course the ones that are huge such as One Piece but they usually have quite a few filler episodes. Here are three that just came to mind, with some vague descriptions. I don't enjoy dark anime all that much, so they all might be too 'upbeat' for your taste. Hunter x Hunter. A kid thought his parents were dead but hears that his dad was still alive and was a great 'hunter' (something like people with special skills). He decides to become a hunter himself and find his dad, and on the way meets others who want to become hunters each with their own ability. It might be too upbeat at times for your taste maybe (especially since the protagonist is a kid), but it is quite serious in general. Yu Yu Hakusho. Rather old show where the main character is a delinquent who dies in the first episode but is offered life in exchange for working to beat supernatural beings. He then ventures on to fight more and more powerful foes. This can be silly at times, especially in the beginning, so not sure how well it fits. Maybe also, My Hero Academia. This is quite popular right now and is still running in its fourth season. It's about a world where people have super powers (quirks) but the protagonist doesn't really have one. He gets one and learns that the strongest superhero is losing his powers, and someone will have to fight the villains. This is not that serious overall, but it gets quite serious at times.

Is Their Any Video Game You Find Hard To Finish?
Illusion of Terra replied to Nova's topic in Gaming
I had never finished ghouls myself as a kid, only decades later. The reason was mostly that I didn't know English as a kid and didn't know you had to beat the bosses with that new pendant weapon. So yeah, I almost beat it a couple of times when I was a kid. Then again, I doubt I would have beaten the final boss with all the stuff that he shoots. I might give it a shot when I have some time as I still remember most of it and all the treasures Can't remember if I ever beat battle toads though. I do think games nowadays are overall 'easier' in the sense you mentioned with the continues etc, but that might be because people nowadays don't seem to have the time to spend on games or don't want to. So I can see how people would simply not finish games if you could not save because they would have to play all of the first levels over again
