  1. Haha! I was about 6/7 when VHS's started going out of fashion. There's still a charm about watching VHS on an old analogue TV you just can't beat. So many memories of watching old kids TV/cartoons on a cold winter morning in 2004/5. I saw someone on Ebay selling the complete collection of Evangelion on VHS a few years ago for about $200 and for a moment, I was tempted! I think DVDs will start becoming cheaper now, and Blu Rays probably in a few years too now that media is moving mostly onto digital streaming platforms. I just like owning physical copies of things, though I'm not really sure why. I'm one of those people who'll spend hours in a bookstore looking along the shelves, so maybe that has something to do with it lol
  2. For those of you who like to collect merch, posters, DVDs, etc - what are some of the best bargains you've found? I've been interested in owning anime DVDs for a few years (a financially unwise hobby I do not recommend lol) and as is so often the case, the older and less popular the show, the more expensive DVDs seem to be (and if the anime studio since went bust then say goodbye to your wallet - I'm looking at you, Evangelion). A year ago I bought a bundle from Ebay with some interesting shows like Speed Grapher, Erementar Gerad, GITS:SAC, Air, Moribito and some films like Patlabor and Blue Gender - which cost me about £50 for what was probably about £80-100 worth of DVDs. Recently I also found someone in my area selling all three volumes of Claymore for £2.50 each. By far the biggest bargain I found was someone selling the complete series of Otogizoshi for £3.50 on Musicmagpie - which seems to be a really good site if you're looking for some cheap, not so well known anime series to watch. Quite a few 12/13 episode series going for less than £5.
  3. Otogizoushi: Legend of the Magatama. It has such a unique story and artwork so far. Finished Gensoumaden Saiyuki and Canaan which were both awesome, though I'm a little sad I watched 100+ episodes of Saiyuki not knowing they haven't actually finished it yet lol
  4. So I made an amv... this is the first one I've ever made. Probably isn't very good considering I made it on windows movie maker lol but oh well. I heard the song yesterday and decided I was going to make an amv to it and that's pretty much it. Let me know what you think!
  5. For those unaware, this is my song. I used to make music a while back before I joined this forum but started doing so again
  6. As much as I'd like to see the end of it, I think it's probably best left as it is. I would rather that than it be picked up by someone else who can't match the artistic or storytelling standard that Miura set.
  7. Hello and welcome! Thought I'd throw you some slightly more niche/OG recommendations for you: Wolf's Rain, El Cazador de la Bruija, Kurau Phantom Memory, Casshern Sins, Shingeki no Bahamut, Air, Speed Grapher, Seirei no Moribito and Shinsekai Yori - all might be up your street!
  8. I'd love to be able to build large cities like that but I just don't have the time or patience for it unforunately. Thank you! I think I was experimenting combining Japanese and Chinese colour schemes. A few of traditional Chinese buildings go with the teal roof and red walls; Japanese with the white walls - so I just combined them and carried on with it because I thought it looked nice (nicer than any of the other woods I was using before at least). I'm not an administrator anywhere, no. There are many purple-haired anime girls out there so it could be somebody else you're thinking of (mine is Yaone from Saiyuki btw )
  9. That's crazy and amazing. Do you know how long it took to build? I dread to think with the amount of terraforming they've done lol And yessir I got some pictures:
  10. That's - erm - a lot of oppai At least they kept my girl Miko Iino pure... And Ishigami
  11. Welcome! I too spend obscene amounts of money on anime DVDs whose value will only depreciate over the years!
  12. So I've been into fantasy mapping for quite a while, mainly as I've been trying to establish a physical world for my book series which I'm working on. I've done a lot of trial and errors ones for that particular world but I think I stablished something pretty decent. I'd appreciate any feedback on this one now its finished! Also, if you like this kind of map then please check out my Fiverr . I can also create topographical maps and maps displaying the worlds climate (According to the Koppen climate classification system)
  13. I think it's supposed to be funny. I must admit I've occasionally chuckled when MC's have started being pervy in a "oh, should've known" kinda way. But hey, anime has been hijacked by the omnipresent tenticles of international capitalism, just like every other artistic medium. As long as it sells they'll keep making characters like this.
  14. It's really great if you just want to play something chilled out with friends (I used to spend time raging at games like COD and FIFA so it was a nice change lol). I used to have a lot of friends I would play with and we had a huge city on survival but sadly we're no longer friends anymore. If you ever fancy starting a world though I'm down to join As a true weeb I have a habbit of building japanese style houses lol
  15. Neon-Genesis Evangelion and any of the Mobile Suit Gundam series are a good shout. They can be a little more serious and heavy (especially Evangelion) but they have strong characters and great plots
  16. Probably the weirdest song on this thread, but I've been listening to this Ottoman battle song. Now I know why the Byzantines fell to the Ottomans in 1453 lol
  17. All the music from DTB's first season is brilliant. I especially like November 11's theme. Shame it eems to be really hard to find sadly. This guy seems to have done a relatively good job ripping it from the show though
  18. Rurouni Kenshin has a good in-depth history to it. I would regard it as historical fantasy that leans heavily on the historical side. The story is also superb. InuYasha, Erementar Gerad, Otogizoshi, Moribito, Shinsekai Yori and Wolfs Rain - All fantasy anime of varying flavors. Nothing quite as historically immersive as Rurouni Kenshin or FMA but good stories nevertheless
  19. It's very fulfilling but very time consuming and this one was one of the rare occasions where I actually finished lol Me and a group of old friends I used to play with had a survival world where we built all sorts of different things. There was about 5-6 of us on regularly and ended up creating a huge town
  20. Almost at the end of the first season of Gensoumaden Saiyuki. When I'm done with that I'll be moving on to Otogizoshi and Claymore. Also need to finish up a few shows I started ages ago like Yashahime and Black Clover
  21. Finished building this japanese castle on survival (yes I tortured myself)
  22. I know this is an old post but felt sad your artwork didn't get a whole lot of praise. Amazing drawing especially on that rifle that looks mean! Hope you're still writing and planning your story too. Looked to have some very good foundations here. As a writer I'm sure you mind changes every 5 seconds
  23. Hi everyone! Not sure if I need to reintroduce myself but I haven't been on here in roughly a year (life has been crazy and not in a good way lol) and noticed there's a lot of new people. If you want to get a feel for the sort of anime I'm into (it varies greatly) my MAL is linked here. Let me know if theres anything there you share a liking for! I've also got a discord at RZ#5673 so add me there if you want to chat about anything, same goes for MAL. I may post exerts from a fantasy series I'm writing if I ever actually finish them too. I'm really into science (especially cosmology), worldbuilding, geography and history which I study at university. I'm also into politics but I'll not be bringing it onto this forum because it's a touchy subject right now If anyone plays Minecraft I have it on PC and Xbox, though mainly play on the latter. Feel free to ask for my gamertag if you fancy playing anything Hope to meet some nice people, that everyone is doing well and hope to stick around for a little while!
