  1. Welcome. I was born in '98 so I think you might have a few years on me lol
  2. I'm about 20 episodes in and it's one of those things that I know is garbage but I like it anyway for some reason lol. I feel the same about RWBY, not that the two are similar.
  3. I probably will as well years down the line. Right now I just have a thing about having physical copies of stuff. I'm the same with books.
  4. Found this bundle of DVD's on Ebay with: - Ghost in the Shell: SAC (All 7 Volumes) - Speed Grapher (All 6 Volumes) - Erementar Gerad (All 6 Volumes) - Moribito Full Series - Air (Full Series) Plus a bunch of movies: Vampire Hunter D (Special Edition), Patlabor, Blue Gender, etc. I'm an absolute sucker for DVD's and 2000-2007 animes. Only issue was that they're R1 imports and don't play in my portable player but oh well.
  5. Usually have golden syrup porridge with raisins followed by veggie sausages, egg and beans. Sometimes I just opt for toast though

Hello there and welcome. I had a similar experience to yours (though not as extreme) when I watched Neon Genesis Evangelion (I really don't recommend this show if you're having a tough time with your mental health. It is possibly the most traumatic thing I have or will ever watch and it's not something to watch in the wrong state of mind). It was actually the show that got me into the anime and it sent me into a serious existential crisis and depression for about a month. I almost failed my work experience module at university because of it and it seriously changed my outlook on life. Mine was more a sudden realisation of nihilism - which wasn't nice, and would've been quite disturbing if I didn't find these sorts of things fascinating. Nevertheless, I did eventually get through it. It sounds to me like your depression is connected to an immediate loneliness, mainly from the fact you say that getting attached to characters and wanting an "anime relationship" are primary contributing factors. Believe me, I understand this all too well. It was something I experienced a lot when I was your age (I'm nearly 22 now) as a below-average looking, socially anxious teenager. I remember always wanting to have a relationship similar to characters from my favorite shows, anime or otherwise. It caused me to take actions in pursuit of that goal which were totally unrealistic. This is stating the obvious somewhat, bjt imagine if Tsundere's, for example, really existed - it would go very differently to how it does in anime. I'd like to say that it's easy to break out of, but it isn't. All I can say is what helps/helped me - focusing on that which I had in the present, not placing too much importance on the perceived NEED of a relationship (especially one similar to that shown in anime), but also a general acceptance of myself for who I am. Hope this may help you a little bit. If you want to discuss further please send me a PM. My name is Michael

The thought that a CCP lacky somewhere in Guangdong province has all of my anime memes saved to a government computer fills me with joy

Huawei P30. Had it about a year and it's pretty solid. Previously had HTC's and Samsungs and seems to run a lot smoother.
  9. Wolf's Rain is such an under appreciated masterpiece. The ending is awesomely gut wrenching. Casshern Sins is a pretty depressing one as well with the whole show basically being about death, or the value of it. The twins arc from Black Lagoon was tragic but also flat out disturbing as well.
  10. I think anime has gone the way of most other artistic mediums, music especially. The increased production of different shows, movies, OVA's, etc means that the field gets saturated with crap. That doesn't mean that there's any less GOOD anime out there (in fact, there's probably more), it just seems like there isn't because it's part of an even bigger pool. We also only tend to remember the good shows from the past, and there were definitely shows back in the 80s and 90s that were as garbage as any fan service-filled, dilluted isekai harem from today.
  11. Miroku and Sango (Inuyasha) Sousuke and Kaname (Full Metal Panic) And if I'm in the mood for tragedy and depression, Hige and Blue (Wolfs Rain)
  12. Welcome! Have you ever worked on any fan subs? Anybody who can speak multiple languages is fascinating to me as I've known for sometime that my brain is not wired to languages at all (except English, obviously).
  13. Hello, fellow Brit! I too am a fan of cats. We only have 3 now but at one point had 6 This is Guinness and Biscuit. Hope to see you around!
  14. Thank you, I shall defintiely check them out! I'm more of a watcher/listener than a reader so my literary knowledge isn't great. The only book series I've ever read in its entirety was the Alex Rider series by Anthony Horowicz. Taking up writing probably wasn't the smartest move, all things considered, but I don't care
  15. I've just started reading Brandon Sanderson's 'Mistborn: The Final Empire' as well. I hope to read Shad Brook's 'Shadows of the Conquerer' as well, as I'm a big fan of his YouTube channel (Shadiversity is it's name. If you like medieval stuff, especially swords, he's your man. He's also into his fantasy and is a confirmed weeb). Shameless plug - I'm actually trying to read more fantasy books with heavy worldbuilding so I can improve my own writing for a science/space fantasy series I'm working on. Ah yes, I've also read about 100 different books and journal articles for my MA research project, but I won't list them as I'm frankly sick of the sight of them lol.
  16. Somebody told me that I looked like the kid with glasses from Big Mouth, which I know isn't an anime but it's the closest I could get. I hate that comparison because I don't lol. Wait, what am I talking about? My anime look alike is the Fist of the North Star himself, Kenshiro (a man can dream *sobs in Japanese*).
  17. Erementar Gerad and Revolutionary Girl Utena (it's becoming increasingly difficult to resist the urge to say "the absolute destiny apocalypse" to people I meet in real life completely out of context)

I recently stumbled across a show from the (early?) 90s called Jibaku-kun (Bucky the Incredible Kid). I love the intro track. It sounds like the sort of thing you hear on urban radio stations at 3am here in the UK. Unfortunately, it seems like the show was only big in Latin America and so there's no English subs, only Spanish and Portuguese. I was just wondering on the off chance if anybody knew of it, or of an English sub (even a fan sub)?
  19. I'd like to see Bones finish Darker than Black as the second season was so obviously left with the intention of further continuation. I doubt it will ever happen mind you, what with it being 10+ years old now. It's one of those things that if I ever win the lottery, I'll be shooting a cheque their way to finish it

    Hello 🙂

I've been meaning to check out the other GWG series since I watched El Cazador so thank you for the reminder!
  21. Hello! I'm from the UK and am approaching the big 100 animes (probably a lot less than most here). Thought it might be a good idea to branch out a little as there's not many people into the same shows as me where I live. I have a MAL you can check if like to spy as I do :p https://myanimelist.net/profile/R-Z
