  1. This is one of those shows that I keep seeing every time I go on Netflix and think "damn, that actually looks really good", before remembering I have a bazillion other things I need to watch and moving off it Would I be right in assuming this is sort of a dystopian fiction show? That was the vibe I got from the adverts and I might move it up the list if that's the case.
  2. There's an exoplanet by the name Gliese 436 b which has a surface pressure so great that despite temperatures well in excess of boiling point, water is forced into a solid state ("Hot ice"). I'd say this is more fascinating than anything seen in fantasy
  3. Animekisa.tv has every episode of Shin Chan (Sub & Dub), Kochikame and 2 seasons of Doraemon dubbed. Ninja Rantaro isn't there at all and it could be the whole thing wasn't dubbed. Try searching for "Ninja Boy Rantaro" as that seems to be dub name. Hope that helps
  4. Really great, I love this kind of gritty style. The only downside is it reminds me how terrible I am at drawing and how I should probably stick to writing
  5. Welcome If you're into philosophical/action shows you should check out Casshern Sins which combines the two quite uniquely.
  6. I really need to watch Perfect Blue. I bought the DVD along with Paranoia Agent about a year ago and it's just been sitting on my shelf all this time. I think it's because I think of them as quite heavy anime that I need to be in a certain mood for. There's also this obscure piece from Darker than Black, the theme for November 11. It's a Yoko Kanno track but didn't appear on any OST's. This is the only full version I can find of it and it's been edited and re-mixed out of the original episode. 1:41 onwards is just superb:
  7. My brain says no. My heart says YES YES YES. My brain reminds my heart that in such a world I would probably die an agonizing death in the first 10 seconds, so it's a nope from me lol.
  8. A song as fitting in 2020 as it was in 1980
  9. An OK anime (the plot doesn't begin until Episode 15 lol) but a very good portfolio of music. The intro song 'Shell' by Bana is awesome too and probably more appreciated than the outro track which is just as good: Then there's this from Inuyasha. Everytime this started playing it was pure excitement
  10. I'm a big fan of the PBS Space Time channel which deals with all sorts of different astrophysics and cosmological stuff - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC7_gcs09iThXybpVgjHZ_7g
  11. World Without Logos is grimey, fits Hellsing well. It reminds me of the alternative intro to Speed Grapher which they used for the American DVD releases when they couldn't get the rights to Girls on Film by Duran Duran. That's a nice little piece. I've not even heard of Ookami Kakushi so I'll have to add that one to my list
  12. It's a pretty obvious point that music is important in any visual medium for creating atmosphere. To me at least, it seems to have even more of a bearing in anime, as I often pick the shows I'm going to watch depending on how much I like the intro/outro tracks (not always a great idea :D). Music is also the deciding factor in whether I think something is good or great, or indeed a masterpiece. 'Blue' from the end of Cowboy Bebop, or 'Kom Susser Tod' from End of Eva are iconic. Does anybody else feel this strongly about music in visual media? What's some of your favorite musical pieces from anime?
  13. I don't go back too far I'm afraid. I think the oldest I've seen was the 1986 movie Hokuto no Ken. From my plan to watch list, I still need to watch Nausicca (1984) and Gundam (1979), so they will likely be the oldest at some point. There may be one I saw as a kid that was before any of these that I've simply forgotten about though
  14. My go-to are dubs, but some shows don't have dubbed versions (e.g. Pandora Hearts, Zetsuen no Tempest, etc) so I'm forced to watch in sub. I'm very tolerant with dubs and poor voice acting or off-putting dialogue doesn't really phase me. There are some occasions where I have chosen sub over dub because the dub really was THAT bad (e.g. I will never watch the Netflix dub of NGE again, and the Revolutionary Girl Utena dub isn't even properly synced with the animation). There's also probably a lot of terrible subbed shows out there too that we simply don't pick up on because we're not Japanese speakers.
  15. Seven Deadly Bins Bitch Hunter Robin
  16. My favorite would be either Evangelion (but I can only watch it in a certain mindset) or Darker than Black. I also really like Inuyasha, though because of its length I don't have time to rewatch as often as the others lol
  17. Thank you for reminding me that I still haven't finished Texhnolyze Here my shelf at uni + other non-anime shows I like :
  18. What ticks me off the most about this so called "panic" buying is that none of it is really out of "panic". If you're panicking in anticipation of an apocalypse then surely you'll go for whatever you can get your hands on. People are still choosy though. My local supermarket is completely sold out of milk chocolate biscuits, but the less popular dark chocolate ones are plentiful. All the expensive, highly quality cheeses have gone, but the cheaper ones are still in stock. It's nothing but pure greed. Hopefully they spend themselves into oblivion.
  19. Ergo Proxy, Ghost in the Shell, Gunmm, Mardock Scramble, Psycho-Pass, Cashern Sins - some of my favorite cyberpunks. Legend of the Galactic Heroes or Kurau Phantom Memory - If we're talking pure Sci-Fi. Full Metal Panic, Neon-Genesis Evangelion, Soukyuu no Fafner, Aldnoah.Zero - if you're in mechas. Hope that helps
  20. On their own I take on side off, eat the side without filling, then the side with filling. I've recently discovered the art of crushing them up and sprinkling them on ice cream though so perhaps that's my prefered method
  21. Legend of the Galactic Heroes 100+ episodes in 7 days, that sounds like a challenge to me!
  22. Speak all languages as that'd guarantee me employment as a teacher/translator and I'd be able to watch all the animes that don't have English subs Would you rather be a bird that can't fly or a fish that can't swim?
  23. Here in the UK it seems to be that people are either going completely nuts and clearing the shelves of ibuprofen, paracetamol and toilet roll (for some reason), or they're not giving it anywhere near the concern required and are complaining because the football might be canceled. There is no in-between
