1. Evangelion Another Impact is a stand-alone CG short, rather than a part of the Evangelion remake. Last I heard, the final remake movie (Evangelion 3.0 + 1.0) still doesn't have a release date, despite originally being planned for a 2015 release.
2. You may think that you're following me, but in reality it is I that am following you.

3. Like I said elsewhere, it really looks to be par for the course as far as most American adaptations of Japanese franchises go - it isn't going to be a one-to-one port of the original story with the original characters, and a lot of things are going to be changed to make sense to and to appeal to Western audiences. It's going to be its own thing, similar in many regards to the original, but with its own spin on everything. Nobody on this site is this movie's target audience - in fact, I dare say that nobody who has seen or heard of the original source material is the target audience. So who is it being made for? The same people who went out and watched The Ring in theaters, despite having never seen or heard of the Japanese movie, Ringu. It's for the folks who went out and saw Shutter, despite having never seen or heard of the Thai original. It's for the people who went out and saw Let Me In, without knowing that it was based off a Swedish novel/movie called Let the Right One In. And... personally, that doesn't actually bother me. I've enjoyed American adaptations of foreign film plenty of times in the past (though I almost always prefer the original material), and am often amused at the various tweaks that are made to make the story more approachable for Westerners. It can be mildly amusing to see what makes the cut and what doesn't. So... if they were doing a more direct adaptation, like is the case with Ghost in the Shell (which is honestly a true rarity, for better or worse), I'd be inclined to agree, but in this case given the scope of the changes being made, I don't think it's all that unreasonable to expect that all of the characters are going to be shuffled up a bit. Even if the end result of said shuffling is that everyone ends up being Edgelord Supremes. As for myself, I'll probably watch it at some point with extremely low expectations. I figure if it turns out poorly, it'll probably at least make a good (if unintentional) goofy comedy. No matter how bad it ends up being, however, I'm sure it'll be a better movie than Chappie was. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
4. Crunchyroll, for the most part. It manages to cover most of the bases or me, with the remainder being filled in with good, old fashioned downloads. I've watched a couple shows on Netflix and/or Hulu as well, but I more or less never actually go to those places looking for anime.
5. See also: Ghost in the Shell, Ju-On, The Ring, Dark Water, Dragon Ball, One Missed Call, Himitsu, A Tale of Two Sisters, Shutter, aaannnd... whew. Actually, I think that's enough for the purposess of this post. American adaptations of foreign film/etc is fairly common, to be honest. In many cases the setting is moved from Japan/etc to America, and the cast replaced with American alternatives. Take The Ring, for example - Sadako became Samara, the setting was moved to America, etc. This is a fairly common occurrence when it comes to popular properties, so it shouldn't really come as any great surprise. If anything, I'd take this news as a sign of just how popular Death Note is - not to mention, a chance for the American version to draw people in and expose them to the material, potentially leading them toward the anime as a result. Extra exposure is always good, right? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ So yeah, it'll probably suck in the eyes of those folks who are already familiar with and fond of the show, but eh. It's not the end of the world, or anything.
6. Heya hiya, welcome to AF! What sort of shows have you been jumping into since your triumphant return to Animeland?
7. According to Amazon I bought it on March first, 2008. And... I see what you mean. Looks like it's just plain unavailable most places... $25ish on Amazon, $30ish on ebay. That's a little disconcerting, to be honest... makes me want to buy up every volume of Spice and Wolf currently available, out of fear that they may end up similarly hard to find.
8. That's fair enough, though I think the game is so completely and utterly perfect (well, for the most part), that I'm extremely happy I decided not to wait. Your will power is superior to mine in this particular area, I think.
9. Might be worth a thread in the feedback board, if it's something that is bothering you?
10. I need to get back to reading Spice and Wolf. Life events conspired to stall me out around volume five, had been greatly enjoying it up to that point. Beyond that, I'm an irregular reader (and also extremely behind) of the Haruhi Suzumiya novels, and have previously enjoyed Welcome to NHK, Twelve Kingdoms, and Full Metal Panic. I was reading the Scrapped Princess novels until - if I'm not mistaken - the publisher stopped localizing them.
11. Toasted a muffin, fried some ham, sliced some cheese, and cooked an egg for an extremely pleasant breakfast sandwich.
12. No disappointment - it definitely isn't for everyone! It doesn't go anywhere but up, imo.
13. I'm okay with waiting a few months on the Switch, given that its big release (Breath of the Wild) performs perfectly adequately on the WiiU, tbh.
14. Are you talking about the original F/SN anime, or the more recent F/SN: Unlimited Blade Works? I really enjoyed the latter, while I've never felt at all compelled to even spend time watching the former. Best. Shit. Ever. My wife and I are already wholly committed to buying as much merch for this show as humanly possible.
15. Not if your significant other has the same interests that you do. My spouse and I tend to be interested in exactly the same shows with extremely minimal variation, though our toplists vary a bit. She liked Black Lagoon more than I did, I like the Fate series more than she did, but in neither instance was it a massive disparity. Our tastes in video games tends to be a bit less similar, however - to date, the only games we've played and enjoyed together to any large degree have been World of Tanks (we both got sick of it after spending entirely too much time on it), Tribes Ascend (fun, but abandoned by the developers), Overwatch (which we're both totally over at this point), Company of Heroes (we give it a go now and then, still), Mario Kart, and... ... ... that's about it. Most of our shared gaming interests tend to be single player affairs, which is fine, and somewhat amusing when we're both totally absorbed in something new... like this week, in which I've been neck-deep in Zelda, and she in Tales of Berseria, to such a point that some evenings we've barely even spoken much. Basically, as long as you find someone that shares your interests, you should be fine
16. Look, I'll be the one to say it. You're not going to have any luck. You aren't going to have any luck here, and you aren't likely to have any luck anywhere else you ask this. You live in Oregon, approximately 2,000 miles away from Chicago, give or take a few hundred depending on specific location within the state and the driving route taken. Most people driving to an anime convention in Oregon will probably be going to... Sakura-con in Seattle (max of 500 miles from Oregon), 9th largest anime convention in America by 2015 attendance. Anime Expo in LA (max of 1,000 miles from Oregon), number one largest anime convention in America by 2015 attendance. Anime Expo is three times the size of Acen - why would someone drive twice the distance, in the thousands of miles for that, when they have a good chance of having a superior experience quasi-locally? It doesn't make any sense. Given that you purchased your ticket without having travel plans solidified, I hope you're ready for extreme disappointment.
17. Yup! I've been looking forward to having the chance to do so for a while now, and have specifically held off from seeing the movie thus far as a result. I've had the chance to see a few anime movies in theaters in the past, which is (almost) always a treat!
18. Still a PC gamer by trade, but the Switch - despite its flaws, all of which I am well aware of - is forcing me to invest in a new console release for the first time since ... uh ... well ... I guess I got a Super Nintendo the same year it came out.
19. Letzeee... First off is probably Sunless Skies, a Kickstarter funded project by Failbetter Games that I personally tossed a decent bit of money at. It's a sequel (more specifically, a 'possible future') to one of my favorite games, Sunless Sea, which is itself a very painfully (and delightfully) niche title that is very much a love it or hate it sort of thing. Both games are set in the same universe, shared with the company's narrative driven browser game, Fallen London (the thread that I created regarding which was totally and not entirely surprisingly ignored :'(), and focus on exploration, quirky story telling, and all sorts of sinister silliness. Second would be Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night, another Kickstarter game that I've backed for an amount of money that I would prefer not to divulge. It's being produced by the bloke behind Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, and several other highly enjoyable Metroidvania titles. I love his work, and love the direction he's been taking this new project. Mm... those are the two big ones, the ones that really get my blood flowing and my hype exploding, and cause me to go completely nutty in anticipation. Beyond that, to a far lesser but still significant degree, would be things like... Strafe, a throwback rogue-like-like FPS with a 90's vibe. Overload, a spiritual successor to the classic Descent games, created by members of the original development team who have put out a couple of highly enjoyable demos thus far. 20xx, a Megaman X style roguelike platformer currently in early access that I've had to ban myself from playing, so as to keep myself from being totally burned out on it before it's even fully released. Mass Effect Andromeda, because why not? The Tsukihime remake, because I still have faith. Soul Calibur 6, because it will come out someday, won't be a Pachinko machine, and will be better than five. Also, they'll bring back Seung Mina, and I'll be happy. ... ... I can dream, right? Anyway, that's all that comes to mind at the moment.
20. Restricting it down to anime style art really limits your choices, tbh. If you're okay with expanding beyond that, give Tribes Ascend a look if you're interested in something extremely skill driven and different, it can be fairly difficult to get into though.
21. I don't care if she's a fish person, Mipha is #1 waifu.
22. Well, to be a bit more specific, I think it's sometimes the case that it isn't even something that they think about. It's surprisingly easy to drop the ball in terms of communication when you're working on something that people are eagerly anticipating, and to not even notice it if you're in the midst of a focused crunch period... moreso if it's a relatively inexperienced team, or at least a team working on their first project. With my silly and entirely unnecessary nitpicking (sorry!) out of the way, I agree that it is nice to get those sorts of explanations. I'd apologize for going off topic, but I have a sneaking suspicion that we may be the only two on the board interested in this particular game, so it probably doesn't much matter.
23. Sadly, talking at length about my favorite character(s) would result in unforgivable spoilers, given that you've not yet gone beyond season one - season two is where my favorites were all decided, and where the show (imo) ramps up in intensity. Ya ain't seen noffin' yet, basically.
24. I'd probably go the same direction. I mean, eating the same thing every day would probably drive me crazy regardless, but I think I'd have an easier time of it with burgers than pizza, which is something that I only eat on fairly rare occasion. You're offered a choice between ... This boat. or this RV. All associated fees paid for in full, of course, forever. If you attempt to sell whatever you've selected, you'll be dragged into an alley and shot dead, so take that into consideration.
25. That's reasonable enough, though I think with smaller studios (iirc Strafe is being worked on by a team of ten) it's understandable that such things may not be communicated, if only because everyone is busy working away and are focused intently on the tasks at hand. For larger studios that have dedicated PR staff, community managers, etc, on the other hand... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
