  1. The only thing that immediately comes to mind is Hakase from Nichijou. I ended up dropping Nichijou due to finding her segments to be exceptionally frustrating.
  2. I can definitely agree with that. The gameplay and graphical style both really call out to me, to say the least. From a purely visual perspective it reminds me a great deal of Sublevel Zero, which was another retro styled roguelike-like game, this time modeled after the classic Descent titles. If I enjoy Strafe even half as much as I enjoyed Sublevel I'll be highly impressed. I think it'd be worth doing, to be honest. Anything to help sp
  3. Letzee... Mostly, I'm looking forward to Breath of the Wild though it'll be a few moments until I'm actually able to pick up a Switch, sadly. Mass Effect: Andromeda is another thing I'm interested in, and something I'll actually be able to pick up and enjoy fairly quickly. I'm also going to be giving Strafe a look, since I love quasi-roguelike first person shooters.
  4. If you want an easier option, you can just opt to go to Sakura-Con in Seattle. Take a Bolt Bus from Portland straight to Seattle downtown, or the Amtrak cascades line from Oregon into Seattle - they both drop off right next to light rail that will drop you right next to the convention center and surrounding hotels. Both options also have wifi, and at least in Bolt Bus' case, electrical outlets. Might be a more reliable / safer option than trying to solicit rides from people that you've never met before, to be honest.
  5. I can agree with that. I went into it blind, only knowing that it had zombies. I'm a bit of a zombie fan, which is unfortunate because 95% of all zombie movies/games/shows are terrible, so I was fairly eager to give Highschool of the Dead a try. The opening sequence dashed all of my hopes, but for some fool reason I kept going, hoping that it would have some sort of redeeming quality. ... It... didn't. :'(
  6. Zoe was always my main go-to, with Francis being the second choice, by virtue of his nonstop stream of silly voice lines. I mostly played survival mode with some friends I had at the time, some years ago. We got fairly decent at achieving some pretty decent times... 16:58 on the warehouse was our high point. Good for semi-casuals like us, though tons of HARDCORE GAMERZ have done much better. Most of my campaigns were done on expert, mainly because the folks I played with liked to pretend that they were better at the game than they really were, so my campaign stats aren't really the greatest around.
  7. I think I ended up dropping that one. x.x As for myself, I'm currently watching... Gabriel Dropout Koboyashi's Dragon Maid Little Witch Academia Chuunibyou demo Koi ga Shitai! K-on
  8. Good morning! I hope everyone is doing at least somewhat relatively half-way near decently on this perfectly adequate day. \o/

Xenforo's cover image system is incredibly cantankerous. I'll have to rework that later. And naw, I was talking about the Information tab.

And my information tab is still a joke.

  10. Welcome to the NHK! I've been adding fine print to my forum posts for years, ya goof.
  11. The amount of posts they've got in the Last post to win! thread is truly deserving of respect and admiration.
  12. Skullgirls, eh? I can approve of that - the game itself isn't quite to my taste, but I love the art direction.
  13. Oh wow, that's quite a variety! I've been meaning to branch into Asian dishes more myself, but have been a bit slow to do so. I mostly do standard American fare myself, with a fair deal of tex-mex and Americanized Italian stuff. Nothing super fancy for the most part, though people don't always seem to realize that. I'd love to try my hand with barbecue and the like, but am always lamenting the fact that apartment living doesn't afford many opportunities for charcoal cooking. Sadly my steaks are limited to pan searing. :'( I definitely agree with you about eggs - I always have several dozen in my fridge that get used up for all manner of things. My sister in law sometimes has to come over and help use them up before they start to go bad. Oh definitely! I just like to tease her about it a little since she's extremely risk averse when it comes to outdoors stuff, whereas I've been out and about camping, hiking, swimming, boating, etc, since I was a tiny little thing, and sometimes tend to be a little overconfident at times as a result. According to her, anyway. (that said, I do appreciate being pulled back to reality when my head gets too far into the clouds) I'd actually forgotten about climbing gyms and things like that... might have to give that a shot someday, if nothing else.
  14. Hullo, and welcome to AF! I'm not much for rock climbing, myself (my significant other is fond of reminding me that I have an obligation to not get myself killed whenever I do anything that has some degree of danger), but I greatly enjoy things like hiking and camping. Cooking as well, though I'm definitely an amateur in that area. What sort of things do you prepare?
  15. On top, definitely! I'm not much for water skiing, but water tubing is one of the most enjoyable things I've ever done - being dragged along in an innertube by a speed boat driven by someone that is doing their best to throw you out of it is extremely fun. The ability to travel forward in time, or the ability to travel backward in time?
  16. Curry! Though, unlike yesterday's less than impressive attempt at homemade Thai curry, this is just a packaged mix from Singapore with some chicken and potato thrown in... better than expected!
  17. Utawarerumono. (preferably the visual novel, rather than the okay-but-not-awesome anime)
  18. Aha. I'm a big fan of the Fate series myself (though I don't keep up with the spin-offs), and consumed the original visual novel quite voraciously as it was being translated years back. I thought Chaos;Head was okay, albeit a little underwhelming, but bloody well loved Steins;Gate. Meanwhile, in Katawa Shoujo, Hanako is my waifu. Haven't actually played Clannad, but I recently watched the anime and was quite taken with it, so I'll probably have to correct that before too long. In addition to those mentioned above, I'm also very fond of Planetarian and Utawarerumono, though my absolute favorite by far is Saya No Uta. I absolutely adore writhing flesh-things and similar abominations of all shapes and sizes. I found it to be very touching, heart warming, and inspiring. Beyond that, I've gone through a fair swath of random visual novels of all shapes and sizes, though I've found most of them to be fairly forgettable in the end.
  19. Ooo. New member. Welcome to AF! A bright, shining place filled with rainbows, unicorns, happiness, cosmic horrors and eldritch abominations, friendship, love, and sincere desires for world peace and harmony. You are welcome here, in this endless swirling abyss of Japanese media fandom. You'll love it here. If you don't, you will in time.
  20. First attempt at making Kaeng Kari was ... ... ... unimpressive. :'(

Thai Yellow curry, yeah. I'm not really a fan of most other curries, so I thought it worth while to be specific. XD And you can take it whichever way you like, Wodahs. ^^

  21. Would I join? Prroobably not - while I adore a bit of silliness here and there, I don't think that a group of that sort is something that I'd find anything other than awkward to be in. Maybe better to just start a general anime group and invite people into y'all's shenanigans as you get to know them, and if they seem like they'd be interested?
  22. Let's see... More a top four, for me. Most 2016 anime didn't do much for me - it was basically the year of scrounging up things to watch from an increasingly dry pool of existing anime. Erased Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans Mobile Suit Gundam: Unicorn RE:0096 Gate I found the concept of Relife to be weird enough in an entirely unflattering way that I dropped it fairly quickly. Meanwhile, Re:Zero was dropped midway through due to what had been a steadily increasing level of disdain for the main characters. Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress received some acclaim from a few acquaintances of mine, but I found it to be, frankly, poor man's Attack on Titan with a main character who's hair was so visually offensive that I couldn't stand to look at him. Magical Girl Raising Project looked promising at the start, but seemed to constantly steer itself down the dullest possible story paths. 91 Days looked like it was going to be awesome, until mid way through when it began to drop the ball on every possible aspect of the story from then onward, reaching a wholly unsatisfying and obnoxious ending. Lost Village had a premise that I found irresistible until it veered off into goofy-land. While I loved the first season of Arslan Senki, the second season was so potently boring that I couldn't make it beyond the second episode, despite the (extremely goofy) 'big twist'. Izetta looked promising until the writers gave up all effort and became obnoxiously lazy. Blagh. No offense meant to anyone that likes the shows listed, I'm just picky as heck.
  23. It's worth a look, imo. The stories run the gauntlet from folklore and myths to things like urban legends and the like. The animation takes a little getting used to, but in my opinion actually helps contribute to the atmosphere, which is in my opinion the show's greatest strength.
